My elderly widowed mother who lives alone mentioned she was getting yet another oil delivery which I found odd since she just had one less than a month prior. She had also been away for 2 weeks not using any oil. I suspected an oil leak and since it was only in the teens that week, I told her to have her contracted oil burner company who was coming later that day to check for an oil leak since they did Plumbing and Heating. That technician told her she needed to find the leak and a plumber to fix it. I was so upset being she was alone and it was so cold in her house. After my mother found a few plumbers on her own and got some very delayed responses and estimates, I found Steve Lauschus Plumbing and gave his number to my mother. This plumber dropped everything and put my mother as a priority. He came out immediately, gave my mother an estimate which was $1,000 less than the others, and started the work right away. He was so kind and patient with my mother and treated her like she was his own mother! My mother, who can be nervous, and anxious, was so happy and relaxed. He came out on Monday at 10 a.m., found the leak 3 feet under the living room floor, started drilling and not only stopped and repaired the leak, but did a BEAUTIFUL job! He finished up at around 4 p.m. that day. Then, my mother went to pay him and thought she could use her credit card (she never asked prior) and when he explained they didn't take credit cards, was kind enough to let her POST-DATE a check for $1,200 when she explained she needed to take money out of her annuity and it would take a few days. He didn't get nasty, he was so kind and unbelievably wonderful, compassionate, and professional. He wasn't able to cash that check for almost 5 days after the job was completed. What plumber or any professional in this day and age, would treat someone like my mother with such compassion and respect and still give her the professional work that was given her? Had I known the situation a little sooner, I would have helped my mother financially so this Plumber wouldn't have had to go through this but just know that I am giving EVERYONE this company's phone number and since I have a remodelling bathroom job coming up, I'm calling him today. I am still in such awe of how wonderful and kind this person was after all he had to deal with and in this day and age, I have yet to come across anyone like him in this proffession. Thank you Steve Lauschus for treating my mother with such dignity and respect and for being so patient and understanding with her! You are truly a blessing!!!

steve went out of his way to see me on a sunday during a busy schedule to complete a dishwasher install that required additional steps that were out of the box and to advise on a water hammer problem i was experiencing. he took the time to explain the process to me and also advised on additional steps that i can take to prevent problems in the future - he completed the job with no issues and with care. steve was backed up with emergency calls when i originally called though he made a point to keep me posted via multiple phone calls on when he would realistically arrive at my house and he arrived right on schedule. i will be using steve lauschus plumbing again for future projects.

Steve is a nice friendly and competent plumber. Quickly dealt with all issues. Explained in very clear understandable language everything he was doing and offered me helpful advice on a problem I have been having.

Steve replaced the valve quickly and efficiently and gave me some good advice along the way. Steve is my plumber from this point on.

Steve responded immediately to my call about a leaking water heater. He explained that the type of leak and the age of the appliance suggested that it likely needed to be replaced. I was given an estimate over the phone of about $850.00. He offered to come the next morning and gave me emergency procedures if the leak were to increase. Steve arrived promptly for the appointment and completed the job expertly. Both my husband and I were pleased with the job. The price was exactly as he estimated so it was a double win! We are already planning our next plumbing job, a bathroom renovation. Thanks Steve.

He came out promptly. He did the work promptly. His price was good. I was happy. Unlike most plumbers he actually smiled. He was good and neat. I had not found a decent plumber yet out here. I think I have found one now.

Went very well. He was on time. Called the night before to confirm. So far I have not had any problems.

I spoke directly to Steve and he said he was on a job. He called back, we discussed the problem and he said he would call back that evening to setup an appointment. Never called back. I went with a different plumber.

I first contacted Steve because of his excellent reports on Angie's List. He answered his phone when I called, and explained he was in the middle of an emergency job, and could I please leave my name and phone number on his voice mail. He promised he would call back in the next few hours. I did as asked. The next day when I hadn't heard from him yet, I called back, thinking that perhaps the message was garbled. Steve apologized for not getting back to me and explained he had many emergencies. We arranged for him to come that Saturday. I explained that I needed to leave the house by a certain time, so he would have to arrive on time. Steve was a half hour late with no phone call. When I called him he said he needed to pick-up supplies for a job and was on his way. Once he was in our home, he was very pleasant to talk to, and struck me as being very knowledgeable (although he did tell us we could not add another heating zone to our home, which I later found is untrue -- but just from one other plumber, so I can't swear to who is correct). He promised an estimate that week. I waited until the end of the week before following-up with him. This time Steve's excuse was that he had come down with the flu, and he was all apologies and he promised that we would have the estimate by the end of the weekend. When we still didn't have the estimate in hand, I decided not to call back. Each time I spoke to Steve he was pleasant and had a great excuse. However, after too many excuses I was done. My feeling is that Steve is currently overworked. However, I would have been much happier if he had simply said, and quot;I'm sorry, but right now I have too many jobs on my plate and will not be able to meet your needs.and quot;

After two or three calls to Steve, he finally called me back. He was very busy with emergencies, which I understood, and he said he would call back the following week. It is now one week after the "following week" and I still have not heard from him. Based on his unresponsiveness, I would not use him. Update 3/12/12: After seeing my report, Steve called me to explain his mother had taken ill and that was the reason he had not called. While I understand there are emergencies in everyone's life, I think a professional would have taken care of business, if only to call and leave a message that there was a family emergency and he would get back to me as soon as possible. While I am sorry about his mother, my evaluation still stands.

On Wednesday evening February 22, 2012 my necklace clasp opened and my favorite gold charm fell down the bathroom sink drain. It joined many other items that had fallen down that open drain. This convinced me that the time had come for me to have all the broken bathroom fixtures repaired or replaced. I had been living with broken fixtures for too long. My fiance is a member of Angies List. I learned of Steve Lauschus Plumbing and Heating Inc. from Angies List by using the map function. I called Steve at 8PM Wednesday night Feb 22, 2012, expecting that I would leave a message and he would return my call the next day. To my delight, Steve answered the phone and we set up an appointment for Friday, February 24. Steve arrived at the arranged time and was very professional and patient as I explained all the plumbing problems that have needed repair and replacement for a long time. He carefully examined all the fixtures. Steve took the time to explain the options of repairing 24 year old fixtures or replacing them with high quality new fixtures. I now have total confidence in Steve's skill, advice, and workmanship. Steve took apart the bathroom faucet and the under sink pipes and found my gold charm! Then he installed a new faucet. He also repaired 2 leaking bathtub faucets. I love the new faucet that Steve installed and I have wanted just this one for a long time. He had this high quality faucet on his truck and was able to install it immediately. He is very neat and left the bathrooms clean. Steve will be installing new faucets in the 2 other bathrooms. He will also be installing 2 new sinks, 3 new toilets, and a hand held shower head. He knows which brands and fixtures are the best in quality and function. My house has needed this work for several years, but I didn't know who to call. None of my friends or relatives could recommend anyone. Now, I feel so fortunate that, through Angies List, I have found the best plumber.

I called Steve about 2 one afternoon in regard to a classroom sink that was not draining, and he arrived shortly before 10 the next morning. He diagnosed the problem as a malfunctioning sink pump . He determined that the pump needed to be replaced since he had previously taken it apart and cleaned it, and it was years old. He went and bought a new pump and then replaced the old pump. He had to work in. Tight quarters because the children were in the room. He sent up a barricade so the children would be safe and have as little distraction as possible. He finished around 2 pm. I felt the price was reasonable since half was for the pump and some cost was for previous work performed. 2 days later Steve did work at my home which was also done very well. Steve is always a pleasure to work with and he. Has a great sense of humor.

Steve Lauschus is a professional, talented plumber, who learned his craft from his father. He is the only plumber in his business but sometimes works with a helper. So if you call Steve, you can be sure he is the plumber that will be doing the work.We had a major leak in the main waste line, in a very difficult place, behind a tiled wall in a finished basement. When I called Steve he asked me first if it was an emergency. When I told him it could wait a couple of days, he ball parked (quite accurately) how long it would take to finish up his previous commitments. He would try to come sooner if he could. He did come a day earlier than we expected. He sized up the situation and offered two possible solutions. The least expensive repair was actually more difficult as the work had to be done in a very cramped position. He initially thought that it might not even work. However after considerable thought, he figured out a way to accomplish repairing the problem with the less costly approach!He fixed the problem and gave me excellent advice on how to prevent a bigger problem with my pump and even let me use some of his equipment while he solved the present crisis. On top of all of these qualities, he was very personable and I would definitely hire him again!

Valve supplier sent damaged part. Steve went out of his way to find something that would work and completed a very professional re-installation.

Called this contractor on Friday, Sept 30th to fix my leaking toilet drain pipe. He was very polite but said he was backed up with emergencies and could not get to me until Tuesday, Oct 4th. He suggested that I put a temporary fix on the drain pipe that was leaking, which I did successfully. Spoke with him again on Monday, Oct 3rd and agin he said he was busy but would get to me by Wednesday. Have not heard from him and now it is Saturday, Oct 8th. Thankfully, my temp fix is still holding or I would have toilet water filling my basement. How unprofessional not to call. How unprofessional not to say and quot;I just can't get to you due to my schedule. I would suggest calling someone else.and quot; Don't use this guy!

Steve was very pleasant,polite and efficient.

We had a fairly serious leak coming from our out door spigot. We were concerned that the leak would damage the house or foundation. The other issues were not as serious but annoyed us for a while. Steve kept us posted as to when he would be able to make it. When he arrived he got right to business and had made all repairs in about an hour. He also advised us on a water main which concerned us, telling us that it did not need to be replaced at this time. We were happy with the service and quality of the work and would consult him again.

He was very professional. Nice personality and friendly. He was very neat.

It went very well. He was here at the time he said and was in contact throughout. He called a number of parts stores and found a part that he originally didnt think was available. He fixed the problem but also gave us an immediate temporary fix so we could shower

He was such a pleasant person to deal with. He showed me the problem and was done in no time. You can tell he honestly enjoys his work and he's a great people person. I will recommend him in a second to my friends.

Overall, he was very responsive. Arrived on time and completed the job. He showed me where the pipes needed replacing and took care of that. Very personable. A note: I called him a second time later in the year for a leak that I had with a new dishwasher that had been installed by the store installers. He was much less responsive. I'm not sure if he didn't want to get involved with someone else's work. Fortunately the leak stopped on it's own.

Everything was fine. He came and did the work. Everything is great. I had no problems at all. I don't know how much plumbers generally charge, so I can't comment too much on the price. The quality of his work is excellent. I would use his services again in the future.

I called Steve at about 8:30p.m. with an emergency call - we had water leaking through the ceiling into buckets and pots in our basement. After ascertaining it couldn't wait until morning, Steve told me he was on a call and would come over right after. He showed up around 9:30 and worked until almost 1:00 a.m. He had to drain the entire heating system, cut out the leaking section of pipe (which was in a tight spot), weld in a new section of pipe and elbow, refill the heating system, check for leaks, and then he bled the radiators around the house to get the system pressure back to normal. All the time he was professional and did neat work (even though the pipes were inside a wall and wouldn't be seen). I thought the price was a little high, but to be fair it was a holiday and it was 10p.m. so the price was probably fair. I would definitely call Steve again if I have a need to in the future.
