They eye balled the mechanism from the ground - never got on a ladder to look more closely and said the answer was a new $500 door opener ! I expected a closer look and maybe some alternatives before an answer like that

They came over and they were supposed to replaced a certain number of pulleys and the guy tried to sell me a whole bunch of other stuff I don't think I needed, but that is okay It is a loss leader item I suspect and it is what it is. It was alright. He was not the friendliest guy and not the greatest communicator but it was okay. He showed up with another guy in kind of a beat up looking van. He tried to sell me new springs and left kind of a bad taste in my mouth. He was kind of brusk, like a Russian guy or something like that. He just wasn't a nice dude. He was interested in getting more out of that job than I think was really necessary. The door works perfectly now. It was just a few pulleys he replaced. He was looking to upgrade and replace other things by telling me that it would not be resolved unless he did that. I said I thought it would be resolved just fine with what he was going to do. I asked him to just take care of that part and thanked him. He did and it is working fine. He did good work for what he did.

Was fair with the pricing. They were able to provide all the services and equipment that was needed to get the job done right away. Made sure to rest everything and instruct clearly how everything worked Cleaned area and sensors They had to lubricate parts and advised that I lubricate every three or four months and gave me a can of lubricant. Highly recommended!

+ -1 moreI purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for the above mentioned service. An appointment was made for the following week. Chuck and another repairman arrived promptly. Chuck went over all work done with me and had me inspect the completed job. He advised me to lubricate replaced parts every three or four months and gave me a can of lubricant. All work was completed to my satisfaction. Both men were knowledgeable, polite and professional. I would recommend this company and would not hesitate to hire them again in the future.

Description of Work: I had purchased a Angie's deal for H&O. Two days before our appointment, very late in the day, the garage door fell and I couldn't open the door. My car was inside and I had to leave town with it. I called H&O and they were on a job too far away to help me in time, and I had someone else handle my emergency. H&O later called me, as they were sorry they were unable to help then, and wanted to make it up to me. They offered a free service to me, called to set up a time, and arrived promptly. I felt they did not have to do this, but was very pleased with them. They discovered that while I had new springs installed for the garage door (during the emergency mentioned) there was no safety cable threaded thru the center of the springs. This was an important feature as a backup attachment should the spring become unattached and dangerous. I, of course, was very thankful for their service, and would definitely use H&O again. Since I had paid for the deal, they did not charge me for their work. They were more concerned about providing exceptional service...which they did!

+ -1 moreThey came on time and did what I requested. After talking to them I decided to proceed with recommendations. There was NO pressure and their suggestions were actually a big help. There was a major safety issue with the garage door springs and they suggested a quieter roller for the door. I was happy for the work to be done and the price was more than fair. In addition, they touched up some loose parts on the door, tightened various nuts and bolts. The owner also gave me a free can of lubricant. Before they left I noticed another issue, the bottom rubber part was out of line. I ran to the truck and they got out and fixed it for me too! I use my garage all the time and depend on it working, especially in the winter. I now feel safe and secure that it will. I definitely will use H and O garage doors for at least yearly tune-ups. I highly recommend.

+ -1 moreI called this morning at a little after 10 a.m. and was told that they would be by before 2 p.m. I then received a call back that Mr. Dadon would be at my house between 11:30 and noon. At 11:30 he arrived with an assistant, assessed the job, saw what needed to be done, gave me the cost and was finished in about 45 minutes. There were a few things that needed to be done after he started the work but he did not add them to the cost. His charge was probably at the high end of what I had seen from other repair services, but well worth the result.

I was a little disappointed in the how quickly they assessed the garage door....one up and down motion, them sprayed a can a lubricant. They did leave another can of lubricant. I had to ask for the automatic garage door opener and they seemed a little skeptical but they did provide one after seeing the written confirmation. Service cost $59. They did perform as outlined, but I felt it was a little expensive for 5 minutes of work.

H&G suggested how to repair it, gave two different scenarios, and then completed the installation of the new rollers. The whole visit took about 40 minutes. Mordy was professional and went above and beyond the Big Deal that I purchased. The Big Deal was for new garage door rollers. My door had been repeatedly coming off the track. Mordy pointed out that the track was not stable and was moving around. He tightened up the brackets. We have not had any problems since. I would use them again and would recommend them.

They were prompt for the appointment to do the estimate, quick to call when one of the options I wanted was not available (and offer other options), and offered to slot me in earlier once the part was available. The install went smoothly, they dismantled my old door and rails, fixed up some of the DIY mess the previous owner created amd gave me a thorough walkthru on how the new unit works (remotes, safety overrides, etc...). Definitely happy to find them on Angieslist. They were a bit pricier than some of the other estimates we got, but we felt they had better materials and also weren't going to cut corners. Again, overall very happy.
