Farro's Tree Farm

Been going there for years ... great fresh trees and wreaths. Great service.

I've been going to Farro's for over 20 years, mostly due to a sense of loyalty to the property (my Uncle used to own the farm years ago, prior to the Farros). This year I bought a tree for my mother, who was unable to get out of the house herself due to health issues. I got the tree to her home, put it up, and watered it. I came back 2-3 days later to put up lights, and every branch I touched just rained needles! I called Farro's, and arranged to come back in a couple days when I was able to. I took videos of the tree shedding copious amounts of needles, and of the tree stand littered with needles after having removed the tree from the house. Seeing as I have a small car (Subaru Impreza), and transporting a tree without a baler or a bag would prove difficult and very messy, I thought this would be sufficient evidence of the poor quality of the tree to any reasonable person. Boy was I wrong. After arriving at the Farro's, they insisted that I get back in my car and drive back the 15-20 minutes it takes to get to my mother's, get the tree and bring it back--despite having videos of showing how awful the tree was! They accused me--albeit indirectly--of trying to scam them and steal a tree. I explained to them about my loyalty to their farm (despite charging $50+ for trees when other farms have better quality trees for $25) and the fact that I had been bringing others and building business for them for longer than I can remember, but it all fell on deaf ears. I finally did bring the tree back and got my money back, but the Farros took a usually pleasurable experience--getting a Christmas tree and putting it up--and turned it into a giant hassle spreading over several days. It seems to me a small family business is not only selling their product, they're selling themselves: with the Farro's, I'm not buying. My expectations of a business is that after the initial difficulty, they'd apologize and do whatever they could to rectify the situation. A loyal customer of 20 years is not going to try to pull a scam, and they are in the business of making people happy. Even on a pure business level, they've taken someone who brought others to their farm and built their business every year and turned me into someone who will tell everyone about my negative experience. I simply cannot fathom why they decided to be so obstinate, and I have absolutely no respect for the people or whatever business model they're running. I will never be back to Farro's, and while this whole experience has been a real damper on my Christmas spirit, I suppose the positive thing is that my money will no longer be supporting these rude and unreasonable people; I'll be happy to spend my money elsewhere.
