Shalom Flooring

Daniel came to my house and met my husband & I. He was 100% professional and personable at the same time which we like. He's extremely knowledgeable. We want to have the floor repaired using our original wood flooring from another floor to repair one of the bedrooms that use to have a fireplace chimney run through it. We also wanted to have wood floor installed for our living room, dining room and hallway. The problem we ran into is our floor is extremely unleveled and our 1st floor is all open space with no inside walls. We have to get another contractor to level the floor first before Daniel can install the wood flooring. He sent us a written estimate the next day. We really want to have him do the job but at this time for us we can't afford him. My husband & I would still highly recommend him & use him in the future.

He listened and probed to fully understand my needs and expectations and clearly communicated the range of possibilities and steps to achieve the best outcome. His highly experienced team worked very hard in 100 degree temperatures to deliver a job quickly, efficiently and as neat and clean as possible. The end result was absolutely amazing - my floors are alive again and looking brilliant. Daniel and his team are driven from the spirit, heart, and soul to deliver an exceptional product and create an exceptional client experience and relationship. This is the example of the best that one hopes to encounter when doing any type of business.

We waited a long time for an appointment that they never showed up for. They never called to cancel. He was friendly on the phone making the appointment, so we were surprised and disappointed that they never called to say that something came up or that they were no longer were interested in fixing our floor.

Daniel is a lovely man. It is a pleasure to do business with someone who is very knowledgeable in their field and a kind and considerate person. We were stuck on the train (not a total shock!) when we were to meet Daniel at our house for the first time. He waited for almost 45 minutes for us to show. He gave us an education on wood flooring (I like to know why and how things are done and Daniel knows it all), took measurements and promised an estimate shortly. The estimate arrived a day later. The price was great. Daniel saved us a lot of money by being honest, i.e., he replaced a section of one floor instead of the entire floor (as suggested by another contractor); he fixed one of the steps instead of replacing it, etc. This makes all the difference to me. Who likes to be taken advantage of?! Needless to say, my floors look BEAUTIFUL! We couldn't be happier. Thanks Daniel!

The gentleman, I assume the owner, seemed very nice and professional on the phone and I thought we had a good conversation. However, I took time off of work to meet with him and he never showed up or called to cancel. If he can't keep an appointment for an estimate, there is no telling what his work is like. Maybe I got off lucky.

It was a great experience. Contacted Shalom and spoke with Daniel. He met me at the site, provided an estimate and advised that work could commence work within the next week. This was particular important considering we are coordinating other work being done in the house. They promptly arrived on the day we agreed upon and began to strip and refinish floors. The house in over 50 years old and I doubt that the floors were every done. The results are remarkable. It was a pleasure working with Daniel. Workmanship was first class.

Fantastic. Called for an estimate on Friday afternoon. Daniel came to my house on Sunday. We discussed the job and he gave me various options and his recommendation on whether or not to apply stain. I had a constraint that the job needed to be fully finished by that Wednesday. Not a problem. The men started the next morning. They were punctual and professional. After most of the sanding was done, I noticed that a piece of pine I had stained and installed in an attempt to repair the floors had charred and did not match the other wood. I called Dan, and as luck would have it, he was near a lumber store and was able to pick up a piece of wood that would match. Assured that my floors were in good hands, I went out for the remainder of the day. When I returned, the men had finished sanding, but the house was dark--the men had left their cords plugged into my breaker. I called Daniel, and explained. He was horrified and embarassed. He was in Long Island, but within an hour, he drove to my house and rectified the situation. He brought the piece of wood with him and was ever so apologetic. Next day, I went to work and the men let themselves in. When I came home, I was pretty sure I was in someone else's house. The floors are absolutely beautiful. The floors were in horrid shape, but they really came to life. I really couldn't be happier and will definately call them to do my dining room,

Daniel is very professional and explained what he needed to do and how long it would take to complete the job. I made a mistake and thought when he was done we could replace furniture within 24 hours. He explained that the floors needed to season before the furniture was replaced. So be aware when his work is done there is still time when the floor can only be walked on. All of the workers were polite. The crew helped us move the big furniture in and out, this cost was calculated in the bid.

I call myself trying to save some money by doing the job myself, then when I finally realized I couldn't,I tried to hire some Central American men but didn't work either, because they didn't have any tools to do the job correctly. I decided to cut my losses, and called Shalom Flooring which I found on Angies List. After leaving a message on their voice mail, they called me back right away. We set the date and time for the job, they arrived on time. They finished the job the same day, they did an excellent job, and they cleaned up after themselves. I am very pleased, and will surely use them again.

I had asked Daniel to try and match the wood stain to a laminate in the kitchen; also I had a water stain from a large floor sitting flower pot that he would have to try and sand out. Both situations were addressed satisfactorally!

They did an amazing job. We needed their services right away, and they were came right a way and were very professional. My floors look beautiful.

Don't assume thier plastic will keep out the sand and close all possible doors. I've had others do this work for less in the past without leaving so much to clean up so not sure I would use this company again but maybe wasn't an option.

Overall, the experience was very good. We've bought an early 20th C house, and the floors on the ground floor had been stained almost black, which made the rooms very dark. After having them stripped and redone, they are now a beautiful light oak, with mahogany trim. The stairs were covered with carpeting that had been down at least 40 years; the padding underneath was stapled down about every two or three inches, plus it was glued down and had kind of melted or disintegrated into the wood underneath. It took a very long time for them to remove it and scrape all the backing up -- and then they had to scrape paint off the steps around all the balusters. Daniel was thorough in his initial inspection, and willing to explain all aspects of the process in as much detail as I wanted. His crew was diligent, hard-working and talented. They came on time, protected everything that couldn't be removed with plastic, cleaned up everything, and were very professional. When they discovered something unexpected when they removed the carpet (a damaged area), they pointed it out and dealt with it. They were also pleasant! The job took three full days. I'm very happy with our floors now. They matched the wood so well you cannot tell the little corners they replaced from the surrounding wood, and the filler they put into cracks is pretty inconspicuous. (I've had bad experiences with patching and repairs done by other floor companies; these guys did a really lovely job.)

I am quite happy with the overall work and love my old "new" apartment. His employees are extremely polite, they call prior to their arrival and kept in contact with me during the entire time. I needed to be out of the apartment during the sanding and Daniel kept me me informed of everything. When I needed to return to lock up the apartment and when it was okay for me to walk on the floors. They use water base materials and I was able to stay in the apartment as the odor was quite bearable. i would most certainly use them again and do not hesitate to let others know of their good work. Called to make an appointment for estimate. Daniel called back and he came to give me the estimate. He was extremely knowledgeable and gave me a quote and I was pleased. I called Christine and we set up the time. Worker was prompt, neat and did a great job. Would definitely use again. Highly recommended

We sourced the vendor from this service. We coordinated dates with our availability and his subject to condo board approvals. Once approvals gained work proceeded and was done within a few days. The new hardwood flooring looks and feels exceptional.

Daniel came by as scheduled and gave a fast and professional assessment of the floors. He was the third vendor I saw that day and I knew shortly after speaking with him that he was a no nonsense, venerable guy that I could trust to do this. I knew that I was going out of town for the job, so trust was important. Christine took up the scheduling and account maintenance. She was a joy to work with. Always pleasant, always on top of things. As an extra, they also wood putty'd some cracks in the floor for a marginal cost. At the end of the day, my floors, which are over 150 years old, looked contemporary and stylish.

I interviewed three companies listed with mostly "A" ratings on Angies List. All were somewhat similar in what they would do so I had no true guide to help me make a choice. I therefore chose by price, Shalom Flooring being the least expensive. The other difference in the three companies was that two of them would supply the wood and Shalom Flooring suggested that I make the purchase myself. As I had no idea which hardwood I wanted I chose to do the shopping for it myself so as to see all the possible choices. Everything went well from start to finish.

Shalom was recommended by a neighobor that used them when bulding a new 10,000 sq ft home. From the begining they were very easy to work with and flexible. We had a tight deadline for renovations prior to moving into a new home and they worked effectively with a difficult painter and to coordinate access to the house and complete the work. They came back and did touch ups as necessary after all the workers left. Would highly recommend this contractor. Not the lowest price but fair and the work was very good.

I am happy with the resurfacing and staining. Only dissappoinment was my floor's wood panels were spaced out and some places the spacing was really big ( see pic ). The workers didn't put any effort to find out a solution to make it look nicer. On addition to that It was to my surprise that after the carpet was remove and wood were exposed there was a distance from the floor to the wall which was not painted since that portion was under the cover of the carpet ( first time wood resurfacer take note ). I was hoping Shalom workers would be able to do something about so that the overall work looks beautiful ( molding ). Spoke to Christine ( very nice and professional ) and David suggested a molding service for additional $100 ( didn't have plan for the extra ). Anyway the workers came and put molding and yet the molding didn't extend to the door area ( so the door stiles/columns are without molding and still exposing unpainted wood ). Happy with overall service and quality, but only disappointment was molding was not done beautifully. I would still work with shalom in future projects.

I contacted Shalom Flooring based on their great reviews here at Angie's List as well. From start to finish it was an excellent, 5 STAR experience working with Daniel and Christine!!! Daniel provided a detailed estimate within 24 hours after our initial consultation appointment, during which he made great suggestions in terms of the installation method, type, color and finish of flooring. His company carries a high quality flooring line which I ended up going with, but I never once felt the pressure to purchase theirs. In fact, Daniel encouraged me to go to flooring showrooms to see other flooring product lines to compare quality and price. He was extremely patient in waiting for my final decision and even after 1 month of waiting for my condo building to approve the flooring installation. Christine has been an absolute pleasure to work with as well! I know I could always reach her by phone or e-mail if I had any questions, and she never let more than a day go by in responding back to me. I always felt I could count on Daniel and Christine for any help and advice during any point of the process. The installation went smoothly and only took 1 week for the new floors and 2 days for the new baseboards. There was a problem with the delivery of the baseboards from this other company I had ordered from, and Daniel was so kind to pick up the baseboards for me the morning of the installation. The team showed up on time every day and were diligent throughout the installation process. They took care and pride in their work and it really showed. My husband and I are in LOVE with our new floors and we have gotten so many compliments since the install. We will be hiring Shalom again in a few months time to refinish the floors at our another home. It is so refreshing to work with a company of such high caliber and ethics. Daniel and Christine are class acts and I am now proud to call them my friends.

From estimate to completion of this job Shalom Flooring was very professional and responsive. The kitchen area and lower level were blocked off with plastic prior to the job beginning to prevent the dust from flying throughout the house. Uncharacteristic of most contractors today Shalom was puctual and even called me to advise that they went to the house to put the second coat of poly on but the stain was still tacky so they would return in the afternoon to continue. Most contractors would not show or even call. I was very impressed with their communication from Daniel the owner to Christine who was always availble to answer questions.

I cant say enough about the good work they did. Christine and Daniel were excellent to deal with and Julio who did the work was a master technician. I would definitely recommend them as it is hard to find peope who not only do good work but have great pride and integrity in their business. This is rare to find.

From the estimate to finish Shalom Flooring has provided professional, courteous, prompt service. They have delivered everything they promised and they did it with a smile. Quality of work was outstanding. Installation is done very professionally and they made sure that work area was always clean and all work was completed as promised. Daniel (owner) was hands on, Julio and Paco (carpenters) were a courteous and their craftsmanship was outstanding, Christina (Customer Service) always returned my calls immediately and provided exceptional service. I had 3 estimates provided prior to making decision(shalom gave me the best price)and i am very happy that i chose Shalom Flooring! Thank you Shalom! You can not ask for more!
