I spoke with Christine first and she was very sweet and easy to work with. Daniel came to the house to size up the job and give us the estimate. The workers returned a week later to install the floors. They were very knowledgeable and skilled. The floors look wonderful! I would definitely recommend Shalom to anyone looking to have floors professionally installed.

The hardwood material was delivered a week earlier to have it acclimatized to the current environment. The entire crew was very promt, puntual and efficient. Half of the crew were involved in removal of the existing carpet and padding from the floor while the other half worked on relocating existing furniture, laying the foundation and setting up the new pre-finished hardwood floor. They finished the job in 2 days instead of the original 3 day estimate. Overall it was quite a pleasant experience.

First of all I want to thank all the previous members who wrote reviews for this Company. Based on those reviews I chose to use Shalom Flooring and I am very glad I did!! My initial e-mail to them was promptly returned by a phone call from Christine. She was able to immediately set up an appointment for Daniel to come to my Co-op an give me an estimate. Daniel was able to come early in the morning so I wouldn't be late for work. Both Christine and Daniel were extremely friendly and a real pleasure to work with. After the estimate that Daniel provided me with I decided to have Shalom Flooring do my floors. Daniel and the other men came right on time and began to work immediately. Unfortunately, my Co-op people weren't the easiest people to deal with. Daniel has a great attitude and handle the difficult working situation wonderfully. I am usually a very easy going person and I was at the end of my ropes with the co-op, However, as I mentioned Daniel handled it all in stride and didn't miss a beat. The end result was wonderful gorgeous floors!!!

This job was difficult because the kitchen connects to our den floor which we were not working on. Daniel and his men were able to match the color and finish perfectly. Daniel came when he said he would come. He actually did our floors while we were away. I was a little nervous trusting a total stranger. He did a great job. His secretary Christine always answered my e-mails and kept me posted about the work progress. The whole experience was positive. We will definitely use Shalom Flooring again!

They were prompt in initially returning my phone calls. They were wonderful about answering questions about the product being used which was very important to me because I wanted as least toxic as possible. The owner was willing to research other products for me too. He was so pleasant and easy to work with; a total pleasure! For the work that was done it was very reasonably priced. The quality and how the floors came out was just wonderful. One of the really big things that was really great is that they sealed up everything in the house really, really well. They really kept the dust under control. The men who worked here were really polite and respectful. They also moved the furniture for me. Out of all the people I’ve hired this was one of the best experiences.

Well prepared, helped move heavy furniture, showed up on schedule, completed assignment quickly and very well, helped move heavy furniture back.

Our overall experience with SHALOM FLOORING was wonderful!..The owner came to our home to give an estimate-which was given quickly & accurately...Next the office manager Christine arranged an appointment for us that coordinated with our other contractors...Then the crew came along with the owner to move furniture and begin the job!...they were extremely careful with all of our belongings and made our home as livable as possible during this job!...the crew was hard working, neat and clean..they cleaned up after themselves as much as possible each day of the job and returned on schedule to move the furniture back into place....we are extremely pleased with the work of SHALOM FLOORING and would not hesitate to recommend them to others!

We received four live bids. Of all, Shalom was within $10 of the lowest (other bids were double and triple the final price). Yet, in my notes, of all the people who came to give the estimates, Daniel of Shalom Flooring was most knowledgeable and most accommodating. The foreman and lead carpenter was a craftsman and the work is meticulous and beautiful. They came on time and cleaned up after themselves at the end of each work day. Christine in the main office was charming and delightful and I cannot say anything negative about the experience. There isn't a single thing that the more expensive companies could have or would have done better. And there could me no more pleasant workers out there. Ultimately the wood floors in my 100 year old brownstone look like they were meant to look and that is exactly what we wanted.

All in all - every job that Daniel's company has done for me has turned out perfectly and I would (and do) recommend his company to friends, family and clients.

Really great. The owner came out and looked at my floor and gave me an estimate for both doing the entire thing (which I chose) and just screening and applying a topcoat. He provided me with realistic expectations for both, telling me what would and would not be corrected with each method. Christine in the office answered lots of questions and also shared her opinions on finish with me (and helped me make the right choice). The guys who came were also great...prompt, courteous and did a very good job. They worked very hard and my floor looked great. My floor was very old and I did end up with some marking from the machinery, and it was explained to me that that could only be avoided by replacing the floor, because they could only sand down the floor so far. Turns out it was beside the point. The slight marking is totally unnoticable unless you were looking for it and my floors are absolutely beautiful. I would not hesitate to hire them again and will do so for my next move.

Terrific Daniel the owner came to my Apt to show me a range of stains. Then since I wasn't sure of which to choos after they sanded the floors back to their base natural wood he put down three different stains that we thought we might like. We made a choice and the next morning before the crew was going to complete the job we had second thoughts about the stain we picked relayed this to Christine ( who my the way is also terrific) and she said no problem Daniel we swing my your place and put down some more choces of stains for you to look at. After that we picked the stain and was delighted with the work and the color is outstanding. Because my painter is coming in after the floors were done Daniel came back yet again and left a roll of paper so as i could cover the floors. Wonderful company and i got what I paid for plus PLUS Happy

I was looking for a company that could do both jobs. When Daniel came down to give a estimate I immediately knew he was experienced in both installing laminate, and also in refinishing oak floors. I could not have been happier with the job. They did a meticulous job with the laminate install, from leveling the floors to cutting and fitting. They were very neat & clean craftsmen, always prompt and work was done in the time frame given. When we did the 2nd phase, which was done a week later (after Christmas) again very prompt, put samples down for us to pick the color we wanted, gave us time to decide. Took care to cover up light fixtures and anything else that was not removed from the rooms so the dust would not go all over, put paper down the steps to the door and kept vacuuming as not to get the dust all over. They handled unexpected issues very professional. I realized too late that I needed to remove the molding and replace it, even though they had already stained the floors, they were very accommodating, they cut and installed the moldings in all 3 rooms for a very nominal fee, even though it required them to come back another day. Their pricing for the laminate was the "going rate" but the work was far superior. The pricing for the refinishing was also competitve with other prices that I received, but again the workmanship was excellent. In addition to the work, I received a call from the office (Christine) every couple of days making sure I was satisfied with everything that was being done, and if I had any questions she made sure I received a response promptly. I cannot remember the last time I had work done in my house that I was so happy with everything. I would highly recommend Shalom Flooring to anyone that needs this work in their home or business, you will not be disappointed.

They were terrific. They matched flooring we had from 1946, and that was an accomplishment. Then I messed up some of the work while doing window trim. They then gave me the small quantity of the polyurethane that they used which saved me $100. They also matched the wood and filled in the place with only sub-flooring.

It went great - they were pricier than the other two quotes but the owner seemed much more knowledgeable, friendly, patient, responsive, flexible; they were ready to do the job when we needed them and worked with us to inform us and help us work out timing of the job with other contractors and our move date; when I wasn't sure whether to go with oil or water poly, they helped us decided and importantly, they are definitely GREEN oriented so while we chose oil based, he was planning on water based and explained why and helped us choose; they also worked with us a little on pricing, sent a written estimate etc. - very professional - my only gripe was that one of the workers left the windows closed when one layer of poly was done and our tenant was upstairs and we weren't living there yet so didn't realize, and the place really smelled that night - but that was a miscommunication, nothing more

New floors look great! Christine, the secretary, returned all calls promptly and answered all questions we had. Mess was minimal as crew was very thorough in taping off openings to rooms and sealing off hallway area. They removed all furniture from working areas and returned everything where it belonged after finishing the floors. We were very satisfied with the job.

the estimate is very good, price is fair.

They were really great and punctual. They were also courteous and completed the project within the said time.

They gave me a good estimate and then repaired some holes that had been drilled through my floor. They gave me an estimate based the pictures. I was very satisfied with the end result. The quality was solid. They cleaned up everything.

Our initial call was returned within the day I placed it. This company was the only one (out of 6 other companies I called) that actually came to our house to look at the work to be done before giving an estimate (others preferred to give an estimate over the phone). A date was set up for the work, and the crew arrived a few minutes early! Day one was spent removing the old carpet, prepping the floors, sanding and applying the first 2 coats of sealer. I was amazed that the sanding produced such little dust! After day one, the crew cleaned up and sealed the room to prevent dust from settling into the floor. On day 2 the crew arrived on time (again!), the last coat of sealer was applied to give the floor a rich, warm glow.
