Description of Work: I'm sorry to give this kind of rating to Jim, since we've done business for over a decade...but I wasn't satisfied this time. About 8 years ago, he designed and built front steps, walkway and patio wall for me of Unilock Pavers. Problem is, the construction glue and polymeric sand combo doesn't hold up to winter frost causing the stairs to become loose and uneven. | About 3 years after initial construction, he did a complete rebuild, of the stairs, without charge. Since then, I've done owner maintenance including re-gluing loose stairs and refreshing sand annually. Last winter, when combined with the cumulative effect of the previous several years, caused too much upheaval and the stairs once again needed work. The cost to rebuild, 2 of the 4 stair layers (re-using existing pavers) was $2000. I thought this was excessive for less than a day's work. Considering it is a design flaw that causes the problem, I think actual cash outlay (not business need) for the labor would have been reasonable. It' a shame. I have more work to be done and would gladly have gone to Jim. |

Description of Work: When I was trying to get my driveway resurfaced I attempted to call them several times but there was no one to answer. I then selected the e-mail option. Subsequently I received an e-mail saying they had been to my property and an estimate would be forthcoming within a few days. They said it would be left in my mailbox. After eleven days had passed with no estimate I called the office on a Friday and Marie said they were a little backed up but that it would be in my mailbox on Wednesday. No estimate arrived by Wednesday. On the next Friday I called again and was told it would be delivered by the following Wednesday. Needless to say it never arrived. this was my first experience with Angie's list and obviously not a positive one. Even if they had delivered the estimate the fact they had not actually come and met was for me an issue

Weather [rain] does matter but we planned in a short time frame so there was no problems with weather. I was not home when the job was performed. I did not know how to rate the price as we used them in the past and I did not shop for a different company.

Description of Work: after doing an excellent job repaying my driveway they informed me it was time to seal it. So they did. My driveway now looks like the surface of the moon. Numerous attempts to get them to contact me resulted in promises to call back. It never happened. I would not use these guys again.

Description of Work: Jim's Driveway Sealing and Landscape Design Company repaired and repaved my driveway. They redid the front steps, porch and walkway. The team worked very hard and created a beautiful entryway to my home. They were courteous and friendly. The stairs, fieldstone work and paving are a work of landscape art. The team arrived on time every day. They were extremely neat. I had a few questions from the town building department. Jim and his staff immediately took care of the necessary paperwork. Jim's company also removed some storm residue from the wooded part of my property (a large tree stump the county highway department discarded there.) The town building department insisted I remove it and stated that the other landscape work would be stopped until it was taken away. In every aspect of this project, Jim's Driveway Sealing and Landscape Design Company performed professionally, expertly, economically and courteously.
