I contacted Michael Grimm Services when it became clear that the two large poplars that were encroaching on my roof were likely to cause damage. I had called another company several weeks prior, but that company had failed to provide an estimate within a two-week period and eventually, after being contacted again, had stated that they were not equipped to do the job. My experience with Michael Grimm was completely different beginning with my initial phone conversation with the receptionist. An estimate, as promised during that call, was sent to my email address two days later. Once I agreed to the contract, a representative from the company was in constant contact with me regarding every step of the process: providing a probable time frame during which I could expect the work to be done, determining the actual date that the trees would be removed, inquiring as to whether I had any questions or concerns regarding the completed work. I was home the day the service was provided and was impressed with the diligence and professionalism displayed by everyone involved with the job. I unequivocally recommend Michael Grimm Services.

They called and mailed an estimate, we liked the price and hired them. When they came out, we made sure that what they trim off will never grow back, they confirmed, and we also asked them to make it look good. They did as best they could with what they had to work with considering the town trimmed it already on the street side all funny like so, they could only do so much. But we did wholeheartedly appreciate their honest effort. Thank you. Will hire again!!

They responded promptly to my inquiry, came by to look at the trees within days, sent a quote within days of looking at the trees and completed the work well before the 6-8 weeks they estimated it would be. On their first round they left one tree and took down part of the railing on my deck, but I called and they had taken the last tree and fixed the railing so you'd never know anything happened (I don't even know how they did it) within a day. I was amazed. Just in general, this company is super professional, responsive and their work is high quality and they definitely do not overcharge. I expected to pay much more than I did for those trees coming down. I cannot recommend them enough.

Crew showed up on time and were very skilled and professional. Entire job was completed in 2 hours including stump grinding, raking and cleanup. Very pleased.

I am a returning customer and asked Eric from Michael Grimm services to quote a large hardscape project for me at me residence. I met with Eric for 2 hours and provided him with the requirements/specifications of my project. Eric told me he would provide me with plans and a quote in 2 weeks. I waited three weeks and reached out to Eric for an update, he told me that he was busy and needed another week. I waited 2 more weeks and reached back to Eric after not hearing anything, Eric left me a voicemail response telling me how busy he was and said that they couldn't start any work for me until mid November. I called him back and left him a message stating that I was not concerned about start date I simply wanted the proposal that I have now been waiting on for almost 6 weeks.

Excellent, they are very good. They're actually coming out this Monday to do some more work.The prices are very good they're competitive. They did very good they cleaned up behind themselves. They're really excellent all the way around.

Very professional. Came when they said. Only took 20 minutes so paying over $400 I think it was expensive. Because of how long it took and the $400 price tag I would look elsewhere. When they came to grind the stump the machine left ruts in lawn. Told worker that was not acceptable he said his boss would call me. Still haven't heard from him.

Micheal Grimm Services worked the bucket truck into a tight spot, between (city) houses and removed the tree without a scratch to the deck or house. In fact, this removal is pictured on their website. Highly professional, their team has the knowledge, skills and equipment to do the job. Not the cheapest, but definitely the best! Exceptional and trustworthy.

They were able to move our appointment up sooner than expected. The guys worked together very professionally and efficiently and even took a section off our fence down to get access to our yard and put it back up for us. We were very pleased and plan on hiring them again.

Initial consulting call was very quick and responsive. Price was competitive with other companies and was provided a clear estimate that explained the work to be done. Scheduled the work within a couple weeks after accepting the offer. The work crew was prompt and texted me before they arrived. All work was done professionally and the crew did a great job cleaning up everything afterwards. Would definitely hire them again.

Wonderful! Came when they said - did the work professionally, had an ARMY of men and they were fabulous. Thorough and took care of where branches were falling in respect to my 2 neighbors' properties.

Last September, when the work was finished, we paid the $6,980 called for in Grimm's proposal. The drain went in OK, and seems to be functioning as intended. But the seeded area northwest of the house and in the side yard did not respond well because it was now excessively wet--an area that was dry was now excessively wet. We were told that this condition was just temporary, and that it should dry up. That didn't happen, and it was very wet in the spring, when the Grimm people discovered a broken drain pipe that had apparently been crushed by the heavy backhoe they brought in to excavate the area that received the crushed stone and new drain pipe. To clarify, an area had been dry prior to when Grimm started the project became very wet after an older drain pipe that had been working fine failed because it could not take the weight of Grimm's backhoe. Grimm wanted $860 to fix the problem, but we found someone else who did the job for less. Grimm, as a part of this second ($860) proposal said "Note: Repair lawn installed in 2015 with soil, seed and penn mulch, approximately 160 sq ft, at no charge." That didn't happen, and much of the back and side lawn is not good. Apparently that "at no charge" offer only held if we paid them to fix the problem caused by their backhoe. It is interesting to note that included with the original Grimm proposal was a statement that read, "Hardscape Guarantee - 1 Year Full Guarantee This guarantee will cover any and all problems occurring with new Hardscapes installed by Michael Grimm Services, Inc. as they pertain to workmanship and structure. 1 Year guarantee includes all labor and material costs." An online dictionary defines hardscape as "the nonliving or man-made fixtures of a planned outdoor area." The cobble area presumably qualifies as a hardscape. I would argue that "any and all problems occurring with new Hardscapes" includes the broken pipe and subsequent lawn damage. After all, "any and all problems" seems a rather broad claim, and the Grimm people might reasonably have anticipated this problem and assumed responsibility.

Initially, my husband and I set out remove a row of hedges that separated my yard from my neighbor's yard independently. We spent 2 hours working and managed to get 1-2 of the bushes out! That's when we said no more we need help! I did a quick google search and found Michael Grimm's webpage and saw that they offered the landscaping services we needed. The initial call was simple enough; the scheduler was very nice and it was a relief to know that the company was flexible enough to come and assess the job without us being home since we both worked during the times/dates that were available. I promptly received a quote for the job (less than $400) both by email and by mail which I appreciated. Accepting the bid and setting up a day/time to do the work was also as simple as getting the quote. The day before the work was to be done, the company reached out and let us know that the work would be done the next day and to call with any questions/concerns. The next day, I came home from work and the job was done! They did exactly what we had asked for and even left the area neater than it was when they came! We were so happy with the work that we had done, that we reached out again to get a quote for a retaining wall. I was contacted by Fred Cross (the landscaping manager) and discussed in length what we wanted and what our options were. Again, they were able to come out and assess the area without my husband and I being present which is so helpful when working full time. I received an emailed quote within a few days and was impressed with what I saw. The quote not only included a description of the job but a computer graphic of what we could expect. But honestly the best part was Fred; he was so amazing and patient as I emailed him back and forth for a few days to make adjustments to the job. He even went as far as sending me pictures of what our rock choices were and examples of what the work could look like once it was completed. It wasn't difficult for my husband and I to accept the bid and move forward due to the fact that we were already so impressed with their work and appreciated that Fred really took the time to understand what we wanted and to ensure that the job fit within our budget. This time, when the work was in progress, my husband was lucky enough to be home to witness the transformation. The crew that day brought everything they needed and got to work quickly demolishing our old retaining wall and grading the slope to match the planned retaining wall. My husband reported that the crew was professional and efficient throughout the time that they were at our home. It was nice to see how the crew was familiar with the layout that had been decided on between myself, my husband and Fred. The retaining wall was rebuilt quickly and not only met but exceeded our expectations. Not to mention, it was nice that they cleaned up after themselves and didn't leave a mess for us to clean up once the work was done. I should mention that the crew worked around the challenge of a semi-completed deck that we were in the process of building which I am sure made the job more difficult. I am so glad we went with Michael Grimm for both jobs. We are actually looking forward to using them again this season for some landscape work!

Right from the start Michael Grimm Services were great. They promptly came and gave us a written estimate - the estimator - Daniel was great - gave us the estimate before he left. The other estimate we got was 3 times higher!!! Based on Angie's List reviews we decided to use Michael Grimm. They booked us immediately and arrived exactly as promised. The crew was professional, polite and very good. When they left our yard was back to how it looked before the tree fell. We highly recommend Michael Grimm.

Called Michael Grimm and requested an estimate. It was scheduled for the next day. The estimator came out promptly on the day and time that we had arranged. He asked me what work I wanted done and then gave me suggestions about the best way to doit. The visit was less than 15 minutes. The estimator was very pleasant and professional. He called back with an estimate later that day. The estimate was very competitive, but I went with another company that could do the work a little sooner. I would definitely use Michael Grimm Services again.

Great contractor experience. Showed up as promised and performed all the work extremely well. While a lot was needed, they did not oversell. Everything was cleaned up at the end of the work day. They did a few little extra cuts without charge. A stone from a walkway was cracked by a machine during the process, which they replaced promptly. My two neighbors, who are landscapers, were very impressed as well. The workers take obvious pride in their work, which they should. Dan, my main contact, was very knowledgeable and explained the job well...Very easy to work with. Some of the best money I have spent on home improvement projects.

They came when they said they would and did a very nice job. We would hire them again. The crew was very friendly and there was no foul language used, which is always a plus in my book. The job supervisor was very friendly and helpful.
