He was great. He told me that the system was in very bad shape, and if it went again,it went for good. I appreciated the honesty. He gave me an estimate for a new system, and provided a name where his company would do the installation. It is rare to find a company so honest and professional. It lasted through the end of the summer, so I can save a bit towards the new system I probably have to get.

They do an excellent work. They were quick and honest. They were good people.

The entire service was excellent: the knowledgeable but humble service provider, the attention to detail and thoroughness, the cleanliness, the willingness to answer question, etc. And they saved the best for last: the charge for the service was exactly what I had been quoted over the phone. Awesome. A welcome and refreshing reminder that decency and good work are alive and well. Call them.

The estimate went really well for this job, out of 4 contractors I had come take a look at the job, Holbrook was the only one who sat down with us and went over the size units available. They even checked the stock of the ideal unit we would need and said it could be installed the very next week if we wanted it done. We had to think on the decision so we didn't opt to have it done that soon, but we did call with a lower price from another contractor and got Holbrook down to beat them. The installation took about a day - the guys showed up earlier than scheduled but that was OK. The contractors were courteous and made sure to take off their boots before coming in to the house. They had to remove some brick to get power to the outside unit and chipped away leaving brick all over my basement storage shelves. They also forgot to check the condensate line on the day of the install so someone had to come back to check that there were no leaks. The unit was checked at a later date and everything was fine. The check took less than 5 minutes.

This is the company you work with when you sign up for a sales call from HD. They are large and expanding rapidly. The salesman was kind of obnoxious, but he showed up on time and did his job. On the day they installed the furnace they did a competent job, though they didn't have much to say about the abysmal ductwork that they were attaching my new furnace to. I've since repaired it myself and now I'm seeing the full savings of having an efficient furnace. They are not bad, and you will not be able to beat the price that they gave me, but it's sort of a slam/bam operation. Get in, get out, get to the next customer and make the boss rich.

I chose Holbrook based on Angie's list reviews and the fact that they are local. Estimator came on time and was knowledgeable; he made a second visit to answer my further questions. We decided on installing a/c and not adding a heat pump (our existing heat is oil). It did take my initiating a few calls and emails to get a final corrected proposal and to confirm the date for installation, but this was at the height of a heat wave and I am sure the office and crews were over-worked. Because the admin had technical problem emailing the document, one of their employees dropped it off personally. All interaction was courteous and accommodating. I had to ask about the Angie's list senior discount, which they did apply and is reflected in the cost of the work seen on this review. Holbrook installed a Rheem air conditioner and connected it to our existing furnace, adapted the electric panel to fit breakers, added four runs. Our house is over 140 years old and had no ducts to the second floor. The job also required new register/return in living room. Holbrook clearly explained that they would not know specifics for running ducts to second floor until they got into the job. As it turned out, running ducts to one of the bedrooms ran into complications between cellar and first floor; the crew explained the situation and options, and I chose to not do that room (ductwork passing through the first floor room would have been more extensive than it was worth for me). Despite it's being late on a Friday afternoon, the crew engaged with me for quite a while in trying to find alternatives for running the ducts, and also described other a/c alternatives for that second floor bedroom. They cleaned up inside and outside around the compressor. I recently had Holbrook do annual maintenance on a/c at my other house. I was equally satisfied with the work done at that time.

They had good reviews and were the best when they came out to do the estimate. They were very nice.

Mr Holbrook came himself to do the estimate and he was very friendly and professional. He was quick and efficient in his inspection of the equipment and duct work we currently have and was great in answering all my questions. They did the install in one day and everything worked perfectly. I would definitely recommend them to anyone!

This company should be number one on this list, and I fail to understand why it is not. The first company I called on the list said in order to come tomorrow, I would have to pay an "emergency fee" of over one hundred dollars. I called Holbrook late Thursday afternoon, thet were her early the next morning, they called ahead to tell me who my tech was, and he was here promptly. He only charged for 45 minutes of labor, the parts and the service call charge, all quite reasonable. I would recommend this company to anyone. They are honest, reliable, and work well.

Furnace was not working. The repairman found the problem quickly but did not have the part. He returned two days later and quickly installed the part. He was friendly and professional, explained and answered questions about the problem. I would definitely call them again. They came highly recommended by Home Depot.

We've used Holbrook 3 or 4 times over the past 3 years, for both heating and air conditioning. Their workers have been uniformly punctual, courteous and competent.

I recently moved into a new house and could not get the furnace to turn on. It uses fuel oil for heating, something I was unfamiliar with. I also was unfamiliar with the zoned thermostats (three different types) and wasn't sure I had programmed them correctly. The serviceman from Holbrook immediately determined there was no power to the heating system, and he spent quite a bit of time trying to isolate the cause. It took a call to the seller's real estate agent to locate the emergency shut-off switch to the system (it was hidden in a storage closet), and that turned out to be the source of the problem. For some reason the switch had been turned off, and once it was flipped back on, everything worked fine. The serviceman charged me only for the service call, and offered me a 10% discount on future cleaning of the system. He was sympathetic, systematic in his trouble-shooting approach, and understanding when the problem turned out to be something that didn't require a repair.

Two Holbrook Heating employees arrived as scheduled. They informed me of the day's agenda and went about there work in a professional manner. When they encountered installation issues, they always worked through the situation with patience and professionalism. I was very impressed with their personal restraint to refrain from use of any language that could have been deemed as unprofessional. Each day they cleaned the work site and informed when they would arrive the following day. Both of the Holbrook Heating employees worked together well demonstrating respect for one another and collaborated well when work situations required such. When they completed the installation and tested the system, they were very informative of what I may expect in terms of performance and maintenance as the seasons progress. I had some concern initially as both employees were in their mid twenties. However, their maturity exceeded their age. The entire experience was refreshing as I was pleased with the competence and professionalism from these two young men. Good job Team Holbrook:-)

We are very pleased with their work. On time, cleaned up everything. Neat installation, everything was sealed, tied down and totally out of the way.

Home Depot sent Holbrook Heating & Air Conditioning Inc. to do the job. The company was absolutely fantastic. It was done in November. The company was A plus. They showed up on time everyday. The picked up after themselves. We spent about $10,000. They were pretty good. I called them a couple times about filling out the rebate. I had no problem. They also let me know that some of it was tax deductable. They were just great. The service was great. They try to help you out if you call them. I was definitely recommend them.

We've only used them for less than a year. So far, we have found them quite responsive and very friendly. Their price is kind of average for the area.

Phill & Kevin arrived on schedule & worked diligently for a day and a half. They were able to incorporate two of my suggestions. Yes, the floors and rugs were protected with mats.

I saw water pooling near the furance and tried to get the company that installed it to fix or replace the water pump (they have already replaced it once-so these things were only lasting about one year) When that company didn't show up I tried another company in Ithaca who is usually great about showing up. But they didn't return my call or show up either. So I called Holbrook and planned to meet him at the rental apts at 3 PM. I was a few minutes late and he had already arrived and replaced the water pump. I will be calling them from now on and save the frustration of waiting for other Heating/Plumbing companies to return my calls. It's intersting to note that now 2 months or more has gone by and I still have not had a return call from the first two companies I called.

Began at Home Depot and Eric from Holbrook came out for the estimate. He was prompt and professional. Clearly explained our options and the costs. I got 2 other estimates but Eric's proposal was by far the best and I felt confident in the choice. Installation was smooth, both guys knew what they were doing and went over everything with me when completed. Very pleased with the overall service and our home is much more comfortable.

This project was handled by the Scotia branch office. Everything was professionally done from the estimate to the final startup. A couple of days after the system was installed it lost some pressure so I called and they sent a technician out right away (temperatures were in the high 80's so the quick response was great). Appears that some of the initial charge escaped from a line that had very minor leak at a factory fitting. This was repaired and the system was recharged within hours. I have waited to do this review to see if there would be any problems during the rest of the summer and during the initial use of the heating mode. Everything is working fine. I highly recommend Holbrook and would contract with them again without hesitation.

After calling Cooney Heating and Air on OCT 11 for an appointment on OCT 16, they called and canceled one hour before our appointment and rescheduled. We immediately called Holbrook at 3:00 pm. The dispatcher told me they could be there by 5:00pm that day. The technician arrived and quickly diagnosed our problem. The pressure release valve had gone bad and needed replaced. He also diagnosed and fixed a zone that was not working to our master bedroom. He tried to purge our system even though we did not have a valve for it, trying to save us money. The air in the lines proved too much and we called the next day to schedule another appointment to purge the air from the system. The technician came that evening and installed a valve to purge the system. Now it works great. The company and technician were fast, courteous, and responsive to our needs. I highly recommend them.

They used wrong size circuit breaker for the gauge of wire they were using. 14/2 wire put on a spare 30 amp breaker i had in box. All they had to do was put in a new $5.00 15 amp breaker, but they tried to save themselves $5.00 and cut corners. I caught them as I knew about proper breakers to proper wire gauge. They way they did it my house could have caught fire from wire overload before breaker would trip. They also screwed up my AC. After letting them try to fix it 3 times, I called a different company. It was fixed and worked better than it every did when it was new. They also did a furnace at my dads house and installed it wrong. My dad's C.O. detector keep going off. Niagara Mohawk came and RED TAGGED the furnace. They said the exhaust was not installed properly, the heat exchanger had rusted out and yes, there was CO (Deadly Gas) coming into the house. I would never use them again for anything.

Very Professional installation by Cole and Tom. They arrived on time introduced themselves and got to work. They did all I asked , worked straight through, finished and cleaned up sooner then expected. They tested my AC unit to see that it was working correctly and Left me in a blissfully cool house. Overall a Great Experience.
