They were very competitive and much less than the roofing guys. He was very personable and didn’t even want the down payment. He was very polite and it was done in two days. He was referred by a friend of mine. He was very comparative with another company that was on Angie’s List. I just took him because he was little bit more local. He was extremely thorough. He had rooms swept everything up which nobody was doing. He showed me what places and references he had done that and I hadn’t asked him about references that he had done roofs recently.

Mr. Magyar came out to give us an estimate on a small job: patching holes left by the last roofer where squirrels are getting in. His estimate was very reasonable and he said he'd be out on a certain day. But he never showed up. Toward the end of the day I called and he said he'd be out around mid-day the next day. Again, he never showed up. When I called him, he said it was a small job and he didn't want to drive the 20 miles to my house. I told him I understood that perhaps he felt it wasn't worth his time or money, but he never called to let us know he wouldn't be showing up. I gave up an afternoon with my grandson to hang around waiting for this roofer. I would have paid him extra for the time and gas! Additionally, given that I expected him to do the work, I did not call in another roofer who would have done it. Now we have very few decent days left in our snowy climate to get this job done and I don't know if we're going to have squirrels chewing their way through our attic all winter. What this roofer doesn't realize is that I do use Angie's List, I have several other properties where his services for large jobs may have been used, and I have an email group of a couple hundred landlords in the Syracuse area. It's just stupid to treat people poorly, for they do talk. And I will.
