+ 0 moreTiming was right for a new roof. I knew Triple S had been a local company for many years. I appreciated being able to find out more on their website, as well as Angie's List. Jeff, one of the partner owners, got back to me the same morning that I called. We were able to meet latter that same day. I find Jeff to be very polite, professional and knowledgable. He emailed the estimate to me the very next day. I felt that with a reputable company, I would get the right price for the right job. I opted for a complete re-roof with GAF architectural asphalt shingles, seamless gutters and the Rhino Gutter Guard. Jeff put me on the schedule and stayed true to that. The four man crew were also very polite and all business. They were very organized bringing material and equipment in and removing demo debris, and excellent at clean up. Overall, the experience was very positive and the finished job looks beautiful.

+ 0 moreContractor came round in person to provide an estimate, arrived on time and was extremely business-like - not pushy or aggressive. The estimate wasn't the cheapest but chose this contractor because highly rated on Angie's List. Wasn't around while they did the work but it was completed within 2 weeks of my giving the go-ahead to proceed and the finished result was of a very high standard - the replacement of the rotted soffit was particularly well done. Writing this review over 1 year after the service was provided and I have had no problems with the roof.
Description of Work: Stripped off the existing roof which was already leaking in places (and included a flat roof) and installed a new one with gutters and replaced rotted fascia and soffit on the flat roof.

+ -1 moreWe did not hire Triple S to tear off shingles and put down a layer of plywood and new shingles given that the current shingles are only 10-12 years old. Cost of a new roof will be about $20,000. We will try to get a few more years with current shingles before starting over, but now we know why we may lose shingles after a storm with heavy winds and what will have to be done the next time we re-shingle this roof.
Description of Work: We needed to get an expert opinion and explanation of why we were continuing to lose shingles on a roof of an older, late-1920s built summer house that was "re-shingled" just 10 years ago. We hired Triple S to do a diagnostic examination of the current roof and find out why we were continuing to lose shingles on a relatively new re-roofing job. Triple S did look at the roof, including taking off (and later putting back) some of the existing shingles and going under the eaves/attic spaces to get a close look at the existing roof boards. What they found was that there are gaps between the original roof boards, consequently, when the new shingles were installed (using a powered coil nailer), many of the coil nails ended up going into the gaps between the roof boards, not the wood of the roof boards. The roofing company who was hired to re-shingle the roof should have installed a layer of plywood on top of the old roof boards before installing the new shingles. This was not done, which led to roofing nails going into the cracks between the original roof boards. Lesson we learned: hire a roofer with experience working on older houses, not just newer construction.

They were flexible with the date of the job - willing to work around another contractor doing work. Jeff was honest, helpful, and trustworthy. They did exactly what he said they would do. They were able to install all the gutters in one day on a big house. The crew was quiet and professional. The placement and installation of gutters compliments the house wonderfully. One neighbor said it looks like a new house. Very happy from estimate to installation. Would definitely recommend them.

Description of Work: Persistent leaks in a section of the roof on my house led me to decide that the roof needed a total replacement. Other partial efforts did not work. Triple S had worked for me before and done a terrific job. They were not the cheapest but the price they offered was fair and the work excellent. They removed the old roof, did a thorough job of repair (they retarred the roof) and laid down a new white gravel surface. They also cooperated with the contractor who did wood work on the door and siding to prevent leaks. I do not know yet whether the leak problem is solved but they have guaranteed their work and that's as far as one can go. The roof looks beautiful, they cleaned up afterward and the work they did is excellent to look at. Both Jeff and Bernie are responsive and helpful. PLEASE DO NOT USE MY NAME. + -1 moreI'd forgotten how good it can be to work with a construction firm which does what it says it will do, does it competently, is on time, and keeps in touch. Bernie was eager to be helpful, let me know when the work would be done, what was involved and gave me a price which was almost exactly the same as the other prices I got. (I assume there is a formula that is used to calculate the costs of reroofing+) But with the Angie's discount, their price was lower, their dividing the bill into 3 equal parts allowed me to keep track of the work accomplished before paying, and with the fact that Triple S had gotten such good reports, I decided to have them do the job. Definitely the right thing to do. they even provided a report for my insurance company indicating that the work was done which saved me a lot of backing and forthing with the insurance man. I will never have a roofing job done without consulting Triple S.
Description of Work: Triple S removed old wood split shingle roofing on part of my house and replaced it with new split shingles. We discussed using less expensive materials and we also discussed using more modern shingles and finally agreed it would be better to do the job in the same shingles as before. I liked having the chance to go over these matters. We also discussed using other cheaper roofing on a part of the roof which is invisible but decided that would not be the right way to do the job. I was assured that if roof turned out to need further work, that it would be done at a rate determined in advance. I was reluctant to go ahead on the possibility that I would be stuck with a much bigger job than originally anticipated and for which I got a quote. Triple S workmen arrived on time. Did the work promptly. They went a day over which seemed to me to be for an acceptable reason. They did a good job of cleaning up after themselves. When I saw some discarded shingles in my compost, Bernie -- one of the owners -- immediately came by and removed them. I live in an area where everything is hugely expensive, where workmen do not do what they say they will do, where roofers have a terrible reputation and often never show up at all. This was not like that at all.

Description of Work: We originally hired this company in Nov., 2004 to shingle the sunroom extension on our home. Altho' is was a "little job," it was treated as an important job. They came and gave us an estimate, ordered the product, scheduled a date, and completed the work in a more than reasonable time-frame. That is why we called them in Nov., 2010 after getting an astronomical estimate for some chimeny repair, cap replacement, and surrounding roof sealing. Again, they came to evaluate the problem and the followup materials/labor were well below our other quotes. At that time, they also power-washed the roof to remove mold that was spreading on the shingles. Triple S has been back a third time in April, 2011 to clean our gutters and unclog our leaders. They did it during a rainstorm because our gutters were overflowing and the downpour was causing leakage around our basement windows.

What he had to do only took him 5 minutes, he explained that since the tree that was causing it has been removed, he said I didn't need to worry about having it power washed. He wouldn't even charge me for the service call. It's due to his honesty, that when I do have problems with my roof, I will call him.

The repair was performed about four weeks later, I had them wait due to my schedule. They dropped off roof samples for us to choose from and the work was completed in one day. It looks great!
Description of Work: Three tasks were performed. 1 Spot roof repair of delaminated plywood due to lack of ventillation. Roof sheathing was replaced, a mushroom vent was installed and the area was re-shingled to match. 2 A 16ft trim section replaced and the area underneath inspected for leakage. 3 Roof on a large shed sheathing repaired and re shingled.

It turns out that Triple S completely reroofed this house (with the exceptions of the seven small roof sections described above) about 25 years ago (when my parents owned it) and that roofing is still holding up quite well. If you want a quality job, this is a good firm to engage.
Description of Work: Installed modified bitumen reinforced (SBS) roofing over five small existing flat metal roofs, installed 3 tab asphalt shingles on two additional sloped roof areas, relined all my Yankee gutters with tar and fabric, and fixed a longstanding leak on a south side enclosed porch.

Upon determining that my roof needed replacing, the offered me an immediate estimate covering all costs associated with the job. They repaired the leak for me while I was talking over the estimate for a nominal fee. I shopped around other contractors for price, but most others didnt respond, or were way out of the ballpark. I contracted Jeff (owner) and within two days they were at my house working, and completed two days later! They worked cleanly and efficiently and the only thing noticeable when they were done was that I had a beautiful new roof! Would love to have all contractors act with such professionalism and punctuality as this! I am going to have them replace my gutters and put in a skylight this year as well.
