Great job, it took two days, but the fireplace went from being a focal point to fabulous. Especially like the fact that Nick is willling to work with my design ideas, and not just with the typical.
Description of Work: Wanted Nick to retile the front of a fireplace that had been covered in red brick variously painted with white and ( on the ground) black think paint. He, at first, was not happy about my choice of tile, since it was one inch squares of metal coated tile, but agreed, and in the end we both loved it. I suspect he had wanted to avoid the hassle of making sure so many small tiles were evenly spaced on our old brownstone, in which everything is somewhat off plumb.

Work went smoothly and was completed on time. Nick gave me great advice regarding the type of tiles to use in the kitchen and that helped me save money in labor and materials. The installers, Joe and Jerry, were fast workers and did their jobs very well with minimal mess. They also cleaned up after themselves so I had minor clean up to do when they left. Jerry also gave very helpful advise about not adding trim to my tiles and he was right! The backsplash tiles look great without it. Nick is a rare contractor who is honest and strives to provide excellent service. I am very happy with their work and will use them again when I am ready to start another project in my apartment.

Nick and his team did a great job over two days. They not only filled the hole and replaced the tiles, they re-grouted the bathroom and polished the existing tiles to a new sheen. It looked like new, better than it had when we bought the place. I was so impressed that I showed Nick the tile work on the other shower and will hire him again in the new year, after that shower plumbing is replaced.

Nick and his crew were the prefect men to do work in your home. They are on time, very neat, and knowledgeable. They made my old floor look amazing . They finished early and the charge was less than he originally quoted. Basically he's a really nice and honest guy. I will call Nick for any other tile work that i need and would highly recommend him to my friends.

On time, on budget, a good attitude, and given the process, relatively clean. Overall an excellent outcome, but two issues lead me to grade Professionalism at B... 1) Initial underestimation of tile needed, requiring unnecessary trips to supply house. 2) I had to intervene on the rail trim and cut them myself. In all fairness, my expectations were heightened by the efforts I had put in preparing the room for tiling, and initially it was a job I was going to do myself until some sanity intervened. Going in, I knew this installation was a bit out of the norm given the overall design, with 8 niches, one glass block window, and a pocket door — all requiring trim rails. However, Nick's efforts at cutting the trim rails with a plastic mitre box was not achieving the quality I wanted, leading me to cut the trim myself with a chop saw. Unfortunately requiring another trip to the supply house for replacements. Proper credit to Nick and his crew to being openminded as to my concerns and integrating my methods with theirs. Additionally, Nick expressed his intent to use my methods in his future installations. One item of note on the plus side... Nick caught one box of mosaics that were slightly darker (a necessary trip)... a manufacturing glitch that would have been easy to overlook, and very noticeable when complete. Overall, a beautiful job by pros that know their trade.
Description of Work: Complete bathroom makeover. Mosaic floor & 12x24 (vertically) floor-to-ceiling tiles. Additionally there were 8 inset niches (requiring some tricky cutting), 1 window and a pocket door that needed to be framed in trim rail (see photos).

Everything was wonderful from start to finish. Nick was very prompt about returning my phone call after I reached out to him via Angie's List on Friday 10/21/16. He gave me an accurate estimate over the phone without even seeing the job and said that he would try and get one of the guys that he works with to come over either on a Saturday or an evening. He said he would get back to me on Monday with a plan - which he did. Nick was able to send his grandson, Joe, over to me that very night to get the job completed. After chasing my original contractor for months to finish this work, this was music to my ears! Joe was great; very friendly, professional, neat, and quick. The job was done in about 1.5 - 2 hrs and it looks fantastic! Thank you Nick and Joe....I now have a fully completed kitchen, thanks to the both of you!

Nick was extremely responsive and came to estimate the job quickly. He came to do the job exactly when it was set up for. he and his crew were on the job for 3 days, and they were very polite, clean and a pleasure to work with. There were a couple of hitches with the tiles I had to complete the job and he went out of his way to help and resolve the problems. He really knows the tiling business! We're very happy with the final work.

This was a job that few tile installers would have taken on because it was kind of small, but I was in a real bind and Nick was sympathetic to that. He had a look at the site and gave me a new estimate based on the additional work he thought he'd have to do. Throughout the process, Nick was very understanding and communicative. He really saved me a huge amount of trouble, and he did an excellent job in a very short amount of time.

Nick did a fantastic job. He was punctual, and was very neat in performing the work described above. Nick cleaned up after all the work was complete and my ceramic tiled wall is now ready for a plumber to install a new pedestal sink. I highly recommend Nick to anyone who required ceramic tile work and caulking bathroom crevices.
Description of Work: Nick removed several cracked ceramic tiles in my bathroom which were damaged when I needed to replace a pedestal sink. My plumber was able to remove the sink but damaged the tiles it was glued to. Nick had to replace part of the plasterboard wall as the tiles that were cracked, when removed, pulled apart the plasterboard wall. Nick replaced the damaged plasterboard wall and installed replacement spare tiles I had kept. Nick also caulked all around this bathroom and a second bathroom as well.

I had this Terra Cotta tile that's been cracked for twenty years and in doing other renovations wanted to replace it in a doorway with a marble saddle. Nick advised it would create three different heights (terra cotta hallway, saddle and kitchen ceramic tile) and to my amazement found extremely similar tile of the same color but slightly different surface type (this tile must be 30-40 years old) He made a trip over to me from Queens to LI with the tile just to show me before even finalizing an agreement on the work. He came over the day of the job with two crew, cut the tiles to match the Terra Cotta pattern in my hall and I couldn't be happier. Nick's a real gentlemen and given the amount of energy he put on this job to get it just right is a very good indication of how he carries out larger jobs.

We have a 50+ year old bathroom that had tiles in the bathtub coming loose. About 1/3 of the wall was loose and we had a couple of tiles that had been broken that needed to be replaced. Nick was very prompt in responding to the inquiry and was quick to visit the house to size up the job and give us a quote. He understood what needed to be done and he was able to supply tiles that matched the color of the existing 50+ year old tile. His price was lower than the other bids and he was able to schedule the repair for the following week. He confirmed in advance that he was coming and showed up on time. Had the whole job done in 2 hours and it looks good. Very pleased with their work and would contact him again if we need a similar service.

Do not know a [Member Name Removed]; I did not work for this person. I worked in Queens NY and Brooklyn NY in October 2015. I believe Ms. [Member Name Removed] is mistaken me for another contractor. I have no record of giving her an estimate. Do I deserve a “D”??? I never did work for this person. I provided her with a free estimate. I paid a bridge toll, and parking. I told her see needs a new bathroom floor. I gave her a price (Not $3000) to replace the tile bathroom floor. She lives in a NY apartment. When her neighbor (below apartment) complains that her ceiling is falling down, don’t call me!

I had a problem with the replacement tiles so the work was delayed. Once the tiles were received and were suitable for the repair, it was a relatively fast repair.
Description of Work: Nick supervised a tile repair in my bathroom. His workers also cleaned and sealed the group in a second bathroom. The repair was tricky because we had to find the cause of the problem first, fix the problem and then replace the damaged tiles. Nick's employee, Jeremiah, did a good job with the repair.

Although his tile work was good, his grout work is not. He cannot 'color within the lines'. I still have grout stuck all over. He also had to come back, because the first time around he did the wrong work. Then once he was here, he said it would cost more than he thought but could keep to the price if I sealed the tile myself. Felt uncomfortable as I was home alone with his worker. At times one of the workers was his very young grandson. Nick and his staff are not professionals. Paid them to leave. Would not recommend. It look me a long time to determine whether to write this review or not, as this is shared with Nick, however seeing that others have had a similar experience, I thought I should. This was my first substantial purchase on Angie's List. Not sure I trust the reviews because they share member details and members are probably hesitant to write honest reviews, knowing the vendor can come back to harass those who write honest reviews. I know I was and debated long and hard before writing this review. It has been sitting as a draft for months. I suspect there are many others out there with a bad experience but are hesitant to speak up. Why would anyone, what is the upside? In response to the providers comments, Nick failed to mention we had a contract for him to grout in gray and he grouted in white, his error and he admitted it. Yes it was extremely unfortunate that I was in a very serious car accident, however had the done the work correctly and as contracted to begin with, there would not have been an issue. He is correct, he did not come back for 2 months but that was because he was not available for a couple of months. We had to live with an undone bathroom. Our bathroom DOES NOT look much better. In fact we are still attempting to clean up all the grout that did not 'stay between the lines'. If he was not up for the job he should have declined not sent a contract. In fact, when he sent the contract, I offered him a deposit, he declined saying his work was so exceptional that he is always paid and never requires a deposit. Nick does not have a good memory or is able to keep the facts straight, luckily he sent me a contract, else I would have been stuck with the wrong color. We are no looking to bring someone else in to fix his work!

Her first line is the truth; we performed an excellent tile repair job. We remove a marble shelf that was crack. In order to remove, we had to replace 10 marble tiles 12” x 12”. We had to be careful not to disturb the remaining good tiles which we did. The tile repair job required skills and know-how which as a professional we have the ability. She did say our tile work was good. That is professionalism. I made an honest mistake using the incorrect color of grout. All she had to do was call me and I would go back at no charge and correct her complaints. I stand by my work! She did not call me back; otherwise I would have scheduled her and corrected the situation. She thinks others would write the truth about my work by trying to demean me. Well other have wrote. That is why I have over 30 “A” ratings and two superior achievement awards one for 2014 and one for 2015. In spite of her harsh words about me and my crew, I feel sorry for her. I even call her to tell her how sorry I was that she was hospitalized for the car accident she was involved in.

The bathtub tile job was approximately $1000 and the toilet floor preparation was $500...Each job was done to our satisfaction... Working with Nick was a pleasant experience as he willingly answered our questions and eased our concerns about the work.
Description of Work: During the Spring of 2015, Nick replaced a portion of the bathroom tub wall with new cement wallboard and new tile around our bathtub because of the old tile's loose and porous condition...He was thorough and courteous... We were satisfied and later asked him to come back in the fall to prepare the bathroom flooring for a new toilet.... Once again we found him and his assistants helpful and skilled... Nick clearly wants to please his Angie's list clients and I am happy to recommend him to others.

Nick and his workers retiled our shower walls and floor after installing a new pan. We were in the middle of major kitchen renovations when we found that our lead shower pan was leaking in our bathroom above. Nick gave us a great price for the repair work he and his workers did. They carefully demolished the loose tile mud job that was 50 + years old. He brought in a plumber he regularly works with to do the pan and trap. They then rebuilt the walls, did the mud for the floor and retiled. Everything went well. We were strapped for money and just needed a good job that would last for at least 10 years until we would be able to afford a complete bathroom renovation. That's exactly what we got. Nick stands behind his work and for a repair like he did for us that's really saying something. We asked our kitchen contractor for a quote and they strung us along for weeks before finally refusing to quote the repair because they couldn't guarantee the work - they would only stand behind it if they did the entire bathroom! Nick is specialized and knows what he's doing. We would highly recommend him to anyone who needs tile work done.

He was on time and worked neartly. However, although I had a firm estimate, Nick claimed it was more work than anticipated, and told us the job would cost more money. He also suggested I buy grout, although the estimate said I was only to provide the tiles. The floor looks great. However, Nick said it would cost extra to seal the grout and was anxious to go to another job, so I ended up doing he sealer myself, which took hours.
