Please see below for reasons why we can only give Sand J an and quot;Fand quot; on all metrics above Our tile is discolored due to use of a product that was inappropriate for the application according to manufacturer's instructions. Sand J made an attempt to make an easy fix after much pushing on our part. Once it was clear that there was no simple resolution, we were left to deal with the problem ourselves and sent a message telling us to and quot;enjoy our new space.and quot; Note: Sand J did use a subcontractor to perform this work, but the defective product was used after much urging by Dan Strawbridge. During the investigation of the problem, our custom-built shower began to have standing water on the floor. Once again, Sand J made an attempt to find an easy source of the problem. Once it became apparent that the shower needed to come out to identify the source of the problem, Sand J insisted that standing water in the shower was and quot;normal.and quot; We then conducted a thorough review of the project, including review by a structural engineer, only to discover that Sand J had caused a structural problem in our home while rerouting pipes. Once again, Sand J is totally absent despite our request that they help us and fix the problem. Before we had problems in our bathroom we had enjoyed working with Sand J and their crew. However, if this is how they handle defective workmanship -- problems that now go far beyond what was in the scope of the renovation -- then we can not recommend that anyone work with them. This is truly a sad state of affairs.

We are just nearing the end of our bathroom renovation, and I can't speak highly enough about Dan Strawbridge, his workers, and our total experience. Dan is a straightforward guy who doesn't try to pull one over on the customer. We first met with Dan to get an estimate for our bathroom remodel. Unlike a previous contractor we almost used and who was extremely reluctant to share how things were being priced out, Dan was very upfront about his costs, what he would charge us and what his markup would be. Honesty goes a long way! We started the bathroom and quot;gutand quot; in late October. The house was prepped with plastic dust protective sheeting at key points in the hallways, protective floor covering for heavy traffic areas up the stairs and around the area outside of the bathroom. The first weeks involved a lot of messy work, but every day the house was cleaned up and we didn't experience any inconvenience. Even the dust was kept to a minimum. Now that we are almost finished, we are just thrilled with the high quality of the work. Every little hiccup along the way (and they always happen no matter what project you are doing!) was met with rapid response. Dan was always checking in. When something didn't go quite right or when we needed to run something by him, he was there to troubleshoot and/or advise. It's pretty obvious he has a good reputation around Ithaca--he can move mountains! When it looked like our project was going to be held up because the building inspector was going to be away for a week, Dan arranged for the inspection to happen BEFORE the gentleman left town. Every step along the way, we've been happy with how things have gone. We are in the process of the finishing touches right now. The bathroom is beautiful! Our next project will be renovating our basement laundry room, and we will definitely have Strawbridge and Jahn back to do the work.

They coordinated the whole job an other services that had to be done including lead, capsulation and roofing work. They also arranged for someone to paint the trim and the entire inside of our home. We weren't living here at the time so he was able to communicate and coordinate all the work that had to be done. Also, when I visited I noticed there was an old tree and I was nervous about it because of one of the branches. He then contacted a tree specialist and they were able to get the tree down. They did a ton of work! I would recommend them to anyone. They were very knowledgeable. He went above and beyond!
