This past week my sister had called our chimney sweep to clean it if needed . She went down to basement with the two workers at which time one of the men noticed that the part of the water heater that was supposed to be replaced, was leaking, and also stated that the part was VERY old. He told my sister that as far as he could see that part had NEVER even been changed!! And now I get why I've Never heard from the company again for payment!! Anne

Couldn't have gone better. Another [unnamed] provider in town told me that I would need to replace my furnace, giving me an estimate of between $5,000.00 and $6,000.00 I could not afford. When I told the unnamed provider I couldn't afford it, and would like a workaround, or a patch, they insisted my furnace needed to be replaced. This was on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, and if a gun wasn't literally to my head, it sure felt like it. As a back-up on Monday, December 2 I rang Hull, and I am incredibly glad that I did. They were out to my home in hours, and had the thing fixed before I got home from work (I'm an attorney and work downtown). $75.00! I had heard mixed things about this company, but you can sure bet I will be using them again, and recommending them to anyone I know. Thanks HULL!!

reinforcedBrad was right on time. Went right to work. Replaced 1 toilet, which we supplied. He worked quickly, and got the job done in less time than we expected. A second toilet had a leak. He removed it and replaced the faulty seal, which he felt will solve the problem. He also replaced the solid metal source pipe with a flexible hose. All done in less then 1-1/2 hours. I haven't gotten the bill yet so I can't comment the cost for the repairs. I plan on calling him again for future plumbing issues.

We have been very pleased with their service, they have always been right there.

I'm going to preface this with: Hull was great with a couple other jobs they've done for me, which is why I gave them the benefit of the doubt for the past 4 months. But... After several unanswered requests to have work done, I finally took matters into my own hands and ordered the sump pump backup apparatus, read the instructions, and determined that running the required water line was still out of my capabilities. I called and scheduled an appointment a week in advance and specified what would need to be done. When they showed up, they looked at the pump apparatus and announced that they would have to order a part. One would have thought that, knowing what they needed to do ahead of time since I told them over the phone (run a water line for a waterline-tied sump pump backup), they would have the parts ready. Even with that aside, they said they would call the next day, and told me to just leave a door open or a key somewhere. I received no call the next day (Tuesday). I called Wednesday and was promised a return call. Friday rolled around and I had still heard nothing. In the meantime, I checked out Lowes and discovered many options for the backflow preventer that they stated I needed. It's not like this thing is hard to come by. 8 days after the original appointment, that following Tuesday, I called them and told them I had found someone else to do the work. They put me in quite a bad situation - I planned ahead so I could make sure this was done before I started something else, and now I was still forced to scramble two weeks later to get this done. The lack of return calls is not a one-time thing, and is not new. I've had to call repeatedly several times in the past to pin them down. The only smooth event was a water heater replacement where they came the next day. I'm done with the company, and it's too bad because I have two sizable projects coming up. I also have a job where I encounter many new-to-ithaca home owners who *regularly* ask me for various recommendations, especially around this time of the year when many new families are moving in. In addition, I manage two rental properties. Hull will no longer be on the list of service providers that I use and recommend. But, when you can pin them down to do work, their pricing is fair and the quality of the work that they actually complete is fair as well.

This company ran a gas line to my new gas fireplace and they did so quickly and efficiently. I did have trouble with the fireplace not lighting after awhile, but I think that is the fault of the particular unit I installed. They did come back for free to readjust it and it worked for awhile, but I did not call back since the person who completed the work was one of those negative personalities....which was kind of humorous, but after awhile I started to question how that negativity affected the information I was getting from that person (questions about what to do, what works, and other opinions I solicited from him about house-related things). This company did a good job on replacing my tub and sink drains several years ago. I have had no problems with that work at all.

On 01/07/2011 our furnace started smelling like something was burning. We called Hull and the answering service person said the repair person would be in contact soon. We are still waiting on the return call.
