They did a great job with no mess.

The crew was very professional, prompt and very efficient. They had to jack hammer the cement floor, remove the cement, dig and remove the dirt, install the weeping pipe, bring in gravel and replace the cement. all by hand with large buckets. they were fast and super clean.

I got 3 or 4 estimates. It turned out that the work wasn't necessary so we didn't do it. They were very knowledgeable about the problem.

We called ACM based on the straight-A reviews, and we were not disappointed. Mark McAlpin's explanation of the cause of and solution to water in our basement made the most sense among the other companies we called for evaluations and estimates. It's been bone dry there since his crew's installation of a French drain and pump. This was one of those rare instances of everything going right with a home improvement job, from Mark's first return call through the completion of the job. His foreman and crew showed up as scheduled, were polite and professional, and even finished up early. Their work and cleanup were meticulous. I expected a horrible day of jackhammering and dust, but it was painless, and somehow they managed to keep dust from entering the other rooms. Thinking back, this was probably the happiest I've been with any job done on the house. It was a great day. These people are experts, and know how to run a business. I highly recommend ACM Basement Waterproofing.

Without running a dehumidifier, my basement would have a musty smell. It was obvious that the problem was seepage through one of my basement walls. Even though the wall didn't feel damp, the masonry paint that I applied would flake off after a few months. Leakage by the ties that held the form used when the concrete was poured is probably the problem. Mark explained that he could solve the problem by excavating and sealing the wall from the outside, but he advised me to save my money and to continue to use my dehumidifier instead. I appreciate his honesty and integrity.

Went very well. ACM Basement Waterproofing was clean and neat. He didn't water proof, but did perform a solution to the problem. He was in the neighborhood when we called and was there within an hour to give an estimate. Work was done within two days.

It was a great experience. They showed up on the scheduled 2 days for the job. The quality of the work was first rate and they cleaned up when they left. I would highly recommend this contractor.

The job went extremely well. The owner is very professional and personable individual. His crew were all very nice, friendly, polite and considerate people. The owner came to my house for the estimate. He was also there the day of the job to set up the crew, then he left. One of the crew was left in charge. This was fine, since the crew were very competent. I would highly recommend this company and would use them again.

He was very nice. He really explained what was causing the dampness and explained that we didn't need any work done. He was very honest and I appreciated the service.

I had Mark come to my house to look at some things in our basement. While we didn't have Mark perform any services on this date, he was extremely helpful in answering our questions and gave us recommendations on some things we could do ourselves to take care of some minor issues. He wasn't trying to convince us to have him perform any unnecessary work and even offered to come back to our house another time once the carpet is pulled up in our basement so that he can look at the flooring and make sure there are no leaks before we put special basement flooring in. I would definitely recommend Mark for your basement waterproofing needs!

Mark came within a couple of days for an estimate. We agreed when the work would be done. The workers showed up on time, did exactly what I was told would happen, cleaned up and left. Now I am completely at ease when it rains knowing my basement will stay dry. It can rain all it wants.

Mark McAlpin did an excellent job eliminating a water problem that was there for years. Installed a new sump and pump. Prices very reasonable and the work was done neatly. Would reccommdend ACM to anyone having a leaking basement problem.

We got different estimates from other companies but we went with them. Everything went very well. The one thing was that they were that good with the scheduling because sort of last minute they told that they were coming the night before and we didn't really have time to prepare. They called us the night before around 9 or 10 that because the project would take a little longer than it was earlier anticipated that they would have to come a few days earlier than they had planned to get it done. They did a nice job, were clean and professional. They had warranty on it for 20years and overall they were a good company. They broke an old wooden shelf which was already in poor shape in my basement and we didn't mind that they broke it but they just didn't tell us and that was one thing we didn't like.

Mark McAlpin came over and inspected my basement. He did not try to sell me an expensive solution and suggested some things I could do myself. I will definitely call Mark in the future if I get standing water in my basement and require a professional.

Prior to contacting ACM I met with two other contractors in the same fields who recommended exterior excavation and the application of tar/membranes/bentonite, professional mold remediation, french drains with buried pumps, etc. But when Mark McAlprin, the owner, came out to the property he first made extensive inspection of the basement, noting how the structure had been changed over the decades and what impact that might have on water infiltration. He was exceptionally thorough, and in the end told me that I did not need the work others had recommended (at starting prices of over $8,000). Instead, he explained that with some basic equipment and a powerful fan, I could do get rid of the mold on my walls myself (saving $4,000) - something which my research on the subject had led me to suspect was the case. As for the water, he explained how the exterior waterproofing can simply cause the water to re-route to other entry points, such as along the cove of the wall/foundation. He also pointed out that water infiltrates the formerly excavated area much more readily because backfill is of course not as compacted as soil which has been left untouched for one hundred years. Thus, such treatments are not only expensive but not necessarily a solution to the water problem. Mark said that I could regrade with clay on one side of the house to help alleviate the water infiltration somewhat. Then, if I cleaned of the interior walls to get rid of the mold, I could apply paint which should maintain its integrity for at least a couple years prior to the resumption of seepage. At that point, I could clean and repaint as needed myself. While this advice obviously will not provide a permanent solution to the water problem, it would make it sufficiently livable for my purposes. The other, more intensive techniques offer no guarantee of success, and they come with a big price tag. Mark essentially talked himself out of the job, but nonetheless spent nearly one hour with me making sure I understood my situation and options. I can't remember the last time I have encountered a contractor so blatantly honest and sincere in helping the client, even though he knows he will not get a job out of it. I was so struck by his attention and forthrightness, I felt it only fair to compensate him for his time and advice - I offered him $100. Money very well spent! If my own efforts prove inadequate and I have no choice but to call in professional basement help, I know I will call Mark. I enthusiastically recommend him to friends.

The were extremely neat and professional. The job was completed quickly. There was a minimum of dust in my house and they cleaned up after themselves quite thoroughly.

I called to get an estimate and Mark, the owner, got on the phone right away. I told him the drylock paint on basement walls was starting to peel off and thought it needed replacing. Mark asked me if I ever have water in the basement, how it's being used, do I own a dehumidifier, and what else was happening down there. After a ten minute discussion of all the details of our basement, he felt my basement was in no danger of water issues and recommended I not spend the money replacing the drylock paint. In fact he doesn't recommend drylock for any basement as all it does it keep the water in the cinder block. Nice to meet an honest contractor.

Provided an estimate for a french drain to be installed.

We decided that we're getting so much conflict from these waterproofing companies that we're doing some homework on our own before using anybody. The initial contact with ACM was good, but as I said, everybody wants to do something else, so we don't feel comfortable because it costs a lot of money. He was prompt, very polite, and professional. He had all of his recommendations and references right there that we could have called.

I spent about $500 on that work. I had gotten another quote from someone else that was $1500. They were very good.

He suggested I dig a hole and save myself a lot of money. He was overloaded with work, so he got in and out of here within five minutes. However, he did save me money, so it was good.

Our experience with ACM was excellent from start to finish. We interviewed 4 basement waterproofing firms - ACM was the most knowledgeable and made no effort to "oversell" us on products and projects we did not need. Professional, timely, clean and price in line with others.

He did excellent work. The people he had were excellent as well. He was great in follow up and his service was outstanding. He was on time, reliable and was a pleasure to work with. I would give him my highest recommendation.
