+ -1 moreThis is the second time I used Harry Harvey as the structural inspector for a new house purchase. The first time, Harry saved me approximately $30,000 in major and minor repairs. Without his incredibly professional and detailed review and analysis I would not only have overpaid but would have been saddled with the $30k. His report allowed me to get out of the contract. I found another house recently. Harry's keen eye and expertise identified a couple of larger issues and a myriad of smaller ones. Not enough to get out of the contract but gave me a sense of what I needed to do. I have friends who have used other inspectors and have wound up with hidden 5 figure repairs. Harry is just the best.

+ -1 moreHarry did a thorough investigation of our 1850 home. He was very helpful in pointing out any more significant issues as he went. The report that he provided that same evening via email detailed both recommendations for any purchasers and suggestions for things we my want to address now. Within a couple days we had in our possession a hard copy of his report. Harry was very prompt, actually arriving 10 minutes early. He worked steadily and yet took the time to tell me about things he discovered. I thought that his services would be very helpful to anyone who was trying to make decisions about what projects should be addressed first in taking care of the home, even if a sale wasn't being considered.
Description of Work: Harry Harvey did an extensive inspection of our home in preparation for putting it on the market.

+ 0 moreI have worked with Adam in the past as a real estate broker. Adam does a thorough job and I was able to trust him to do this not present and living in another state at the time. The turn-around time for his evaluation report was prompt. There was great communication and responses. It is understandable that his prices are higher because this is a franchise but we felt it was worth the money to get the job done right.
Description of Work: Full House Home inspection of a two story, single family, 3 beds, 1.5 bath, full basement and attic, 1.5 car garage.

Description of Work: Harry Harvey is an excellent home inspector, we would gladly use him again. We hired Pillar to Post about a week before we needed the inspection by requesting an appointment through the website. His website was easy to navigate and request an appointment. They called us the next day and followed up with an email to confirm our appointment. Harry arrived early, was patient with our questions and straight away went through his process with us and showed us the book he left with us. He had completed the radon test when he arrived, so he also covered those results with us. Because we live in an area with high radon, he suggested a long-term test method to test the radon in the bottom story of the house if we buy it and intend to use it frequently or as a bedroom. He climbed into every crevice and took my us anywhere we wanted to follow him: into the crawl space, onto the roof, etc. Harry explained his findings at the home and gave honest assessments. He took lots of photos. The following morning, we received a complete write-up, including the photos, that was easy to understand. It was very useful in our continued negotiations on the house. Harry was very professional and seemed to be well-respected in the area.

+ -1 moreHarry Harvey is a fantastic home inspector. This guy will crawl into the depth of your crawl space, basement, attic and beyond. Harry literally climbed into a small roof crawl space for us in the heat of August to make sure he could check every nook and cranny of the house. He leaves no stone unturned, he is very professional and is honest with his assessment. He doesn't gloss anything over, he tells it like it is and that is exactly what you want from a home inspection. He takes detailed notes on his computer as he goes, and prints out a binder for each customer with his assessment, as well as photo's of the inspection. We have used these binders to maintain several rental properties over the years, they are a fantastic resource for any home owner. I have used Pillar to Post numerous times and have never had a bad experience. If I could, I would take Harry with me when I buy other things. ;0)
Description of Work: Pillar to Post has done several home inspections for me over the last five years. Each time we use them our experience is fantastic. They have saved us thousands of dollars as real estate investors with their extensive home inspection reports. I would never buy any home without first have Pillar to Post inspect the property.

Suggested improvements to be made. He got dirty looking through this house for us. promptly emailed and posted our documents to us.
Description of Work: He immediately found several structural problems with a house that the seller tried to hide. He saved us from buying a money pit. So glad I called him. Gives military discounts. Very knowledgeable and professional. He doesn't miss a thing. My real estate agent told me that he is the best in town.

+ 0 moreHarry Harvey runs this Pillar to Post franchise. He performed the structural inspection for our new home, including a radon test. He was on time which is really good if you are on a time crunch or have a busy schedule. He was incredibly thorough and documented everything as he went along on a laptop. He did turn on all the appliances, checked all the receptacles in the house didn't leave a single one, also crawled into the craw space. Our crawl space has a very tiny entry one has to squeze oneself due to the fact that our house is a cape cod style. He did point us certain things that needs to be fixed mainly cosmetics. He has a very good ethics and he did not refer to a contractor.This produced an instant report for us to use. He did email us the hard copy of the report in mail along with report on radon & pest infestation report. We bought the house. I gave him a B for price.

Since then, a number of other specialty contractors have looked at the house and agreed with his assessment of various issues. I gave him a B for price because the price was pretty standard for the area.

Pillar to Post replied within a few hours and though they couldn't do the inspection of this type, they referred me to Warren Engineers which turned out to be a terrific referral. Warren Engineers from Rochester NY, responded within 24 hours and we will soon have our inspection done. I didn't see WE on Angie List but they should be.
Description of Work: the actual service wasn't performed but the contact for Pillar to Post didn't blow me off, they treated me with respect and referred me to someone who could do the job. I appreciated that alot.
