PRO-BUILDERS CONSTRUCTION CO

We contracted Pro-Builders to remodel a bathroom, add a stairway to our basement and to be the general contractor to add air conditioning. The bathroom and stairway job was estimated to cost $33,575 (the AC was a separate contract with the installers). The final bill brought the total for the bathroom and stair to $56,533, $29,958 over estimate with minimal additions (install a seat in the shower, extra electrical work in the basement). The work was estimated to take 30 work days but took 5 month to complete. Pro-Builders said they had a lot of experience rehabbing old houses, but obviously had no idea how much the work would cost or how long it would take. At no time was I told there would be an extra charge for something or that something was not in the original estimate. The work done is fine, not exceptional; certainly not the quality of work I would expect for the cost of the job. The tile work is below average, with uneven tile heights, awkward joints and grout lines that look like they used a dirty bucket to mix the grout.
