I have used Certified for a number of years now, and they seem to know what they're doing. Friendly and efficient. I have rated "N/A" on Price only because I haven't used anybody else, so I don't know how their prices compare. They will advise you on additional services or products you may need (read "upsell") but they don't appear to be trying to con, and are willing to negotiate. I would recommend.

Engineers were very professional. I recommend and will be using them again.

NO SHOW. I confirmed to have my chimney swept, reconfirmed and they never showed up during a 3 hour window. I left messages and emailed the contact and no response. The service person called me 3 hours after the appointment was scheduled for and came up with an excuse for why no one showed up or called me. They couldn't make good on coming that day, or the following day and no one from the company got back to me when I asked what happened.

They swept the chimney & then they told me that I needed to resurface the chimney. It was a good experience having them come out and cleaning my chimney, which is good for me and my family. I would say it was a really good bargain. They are very, very professional. They come, get to working right away and get to the point.

Two workers showed up on time. They had called 20 minutes before To let me know they were on their way. They cleaned the wood stove chimney and installed a stainless steel cap on the fireplace chimney. The work was neat, clean, and timely. I would not hesitate to use Certified again.......I am extremely satisfied! Thank you so much.

Well done! Highly recommend. I called for a free estimate and spoke with Jeanette on Monday 8/15/16, she promptly scheduled my appt. for Thursday 8/18 and accommodated my timing needs. The guys arrived on time, & did the inspection. I needed a new Chimney Cap and Collar. Charlie gave me the Estimate, he was very courteous and polite. I had them do the job on the spot. Thank You

showed him boiler and he looked at it fast. It is a 300,000 btus with hot water heater that got vented into the chimney totally 40,000. The boiler is an 8inch vent to the chimney and he gave me a 6inch vent and the t he put on was wrong. Boiler man turned it on and fumes come into the house. It has to match the 8inch boilers with 8inch liners.

It was fine. It went really well. They did some cement work on my steps out front. I have all the brick and everything, they did the cement work. They didn't do chimney. They do other things besides chimney.

Good just an upsell from prepay.

They were competent and good people. I had my chimney rebuilt and that's what the problem is with the roof. They responded and came right out. The experience was good. I have no problems with it at all. They were considerate and on time. They were very professional.

Original schedule crew Leader did not show first day, resulting in an inexperienced Crew leader coming day 2, who rushed, was sloppy and was more concerned with beating a timeline. He did not have enough help or should have been scheduled for 3 days. Team leader was not concerned with protecting surrounding area, to prevent damage. I had to stop work in early stages, climb to roof (40+ ft.) and push for a plan to protect the wooden Yankee gutters. I had to put pressure (hold back full payment) on the team leader to properly seal the new brick a second time, also I had to push to get plaster debris removed from gutter. I had to address issue with office to get project completed. It was a stressful experience, also I did not get credit for my pre-payment $149) to Angies, an oversight on my part.

They started by trying to clean the chimney. It was very dirty and they stopped a few minutes into the process. They sold me on plugging up the chimney with insulation and charged me over $200 for one roll of insulation - plus the $59 I had already paid.

It went fine except they sold me on some other stuff. The pricing on the original deal was great but I paid more because of what they told me.

We paid Angie's list to have CERTIFIED CHIMNEY SERVICE INC come to our easily accessible apartment on the upper West side of Manhattan (in the high 80's streets, close to Central Park) in MID-OCTOBER. The date was finalized and all set, and I took a half day off of work (one of my paid vacation days so I could not use it later of course) to wait for the Certified Chimney Service person to show up to simply do an annual sweep of my chimney which is a short, 1/2 easy process, although they gave me a 3 hour period when they might come. As the third hour neared an end, I got a call from a woman at Certified Chimney Service that unfortunately they were not going to make it that day and she scheduled and confirmed another date with me a week later, so I took off another 1/2 vacation day from work. They were supposed to show up on that date between 9am and 12pm but they didn't arrive again. At 12:30 I when they still had not arrived, I called CERTIFIED CHIMNEY SERVICE and asked what was going on, as I had to be back at work by 1pm or I would lose an entire vacation day. She told me she was sorry but they were running late, and she called the guy and he said he would be there by 3pm! I could not afford to lose the whole day from work as I had an important meeting that afternoon, so we rescheduled - however apparently CERTIFIED CHIMNEY SERVICE was "booked" for the next month! and she said she could only schedule me the first week in JANUARY (this was early November) so we scheduled a 3rd appointment date for January 7th. Then, Another woman from CERTIFIED CHIMNEY SERVICE called last week and said that date was "not available" and the ONLY day she could schedule the work with me before mid-January was Nov. 27th when I am away for Thanksgiving! So after their NEVER SHOWING UP AND 5X RESCHEDULING A SERVICE I PAID FOR 3 1/2 MONTHS EARLIER, I told CERTIFIED CHIMNEY SERVICE to forget it, asked Angie's list for my money back, and have schedule an appointment for next week with another recommended Chimney Company.

Everything went fine. Two people showed up as scheduled. They were very professional and kind. Would use them again!

I originally ordered the cleaning service/inspection service through Angie's list. They recommended a new damper because the old one was the incorrect size as well as caps for both chimneys. They took the time to show me the incorrectly sized damper and how it had been adjusted with cement and also explained why they recommended the caps, so I moved forward with both services. I felt that the price was fair and they weren't trying to upsell me on needless service. They were also very professional, friendly and punctual, and were really good about protecting my floors and not making any mess during the cleaning. Definitely recommend!

Charlie gave us the estimate for the work and we agreed on a price. He came bright and early on Monday, October 19,2015 with Billy and Tommy.. Very neat and clean removing the bricks from my chimney and replacing them with new ones... Charlie, Billy and Tommy worked very professional together and We couldn't have been more satisfied. My contractor who installed my new boiler , water heater and themostats had stopped by as well, and complimented the job . Jeanette in the office was very helpful with the paperwork and warrantees. Charlie lived up to what he promised, and Billy and Tommy followed thru with a great job. Keep up the good work .

Came for estimate and checked my chimney. Told me the clay flue was damaged at the top, which I knew, and the rest of the flue going down was all out of whack. Dropped new stainless steel liner, reconnected all piping, cleaned it up, fixed brick on chimney, and added chimney cap. Joe and Billy were professional and personable.

Great. They recommended installation of a new liner, which I am considering, and offered a discount.

Certified Chimney Service Inc. provided a two-hour window on Saturday, Aug. 22 for which I cleared my schedule. When they still hadn't shown up at the end of that window, I called the main office. I was told that they had been having a bad day?a series of dominos falling, was how the dispatcher described it?and the guy was currently wrapping up a job in Queens, which is an hour from my house. Meaning that they were NEVER going to be able to make the appointment, and in spite of having my phone number handy, they didn't feel it was necessary to let me know. Incredible unprofessionalism aside, I told the dispatcher I would let the guy call me to try to make the appointment work, but I never received a call. I waited a half hour and called the main number again?this time I got a machine and no return call. [UPDATE: Eventually they called me back, an hour later. Too late. The office manager was apologetic but had a hard time understanding that the issue wasn't that they had overbooked and were running behind, but that they failed to communicate anything to me. A simple phone call would have prevented any of this from happening. You can't signal to a client that their time is not valuable like that.] I'm writing this to make sure my fellow homeowners on Angie's List aren't similarly inconvenienced. Also: the so-called deals they offer on Angie's List are a scam?I have a coupon on here from the (free) ValPak junk mail coupons that offers the same chimney cleaning/service for $39.99 that they're offering a "deal" for on here at $59.99.
