Island Homecraft

As an Electrician for 30 years, I am not used to having contractors perform work on my home. However, I was doing a major renovation including the complete remodel of my kitchen, dining room, living room, and new stairs/hallway that was more than I would be handle. Dan was the first contractor I met with and I knew right away he was the guy. At our first meeting, he brought his Kitchen designer from Gallo-Rossi (Dominick) and went over everything in detail. Come project time, Dan and his crew were punctual and showed up as scheduled. Dan’s Crew are true craftsmen and all of his subs/trades are licensed professionals. Their quality workmanship was evident in both the things you can see, as well as the things you can’t. I have already recommended Dan to family and friends and they are just as happy as I am.

Overall five stars. 3 Stars for incompetent job supervisor. Owner Dan Bolger was great, a tad pushy. Runs a well oiled machine utilizing an excellent skill set. However, outright refused to install Schluter Ditra beneath Tile floors, Now I've got squeaks, no cracking yet. Entire crew (except supervisor) were exceptional. Challenging 1950's home with Challenging 1950's Homeowners. We waited a long time to review. Never review anything new as only time will tell ;-) Island Homecraft was a great hire for us.

Dan Bolger and his team from Island Homecraft provided a very high quality product at a fair price. We were impressed with Dan from the time we met with him, and could tell that that he was highly experienced in his work and straightforward. Dan and his team were highly reliable, appropriately efficient, quite responsive and they communicated well. Their craftsmanship was very strong. Keith the Carpenter was just amazing from framing and leveling, to vent duct installation, cabinet installation and completing final touches to make it all look perfect. Dan also has a great group of subcontractors he works with. Shamus the electrician did an amazing job installing our new lighting. There were so many pieces to juggle, and Steve the project manager kept the project moving along, always keeping us informed as to what to expect. They were also clean, cleaning up each day before leaving. Overall, we have only positive things to say and have no hesitation recommending Island Homecraft.

This was an amazing transformation. Dan is an absolute delight to work with. I am so fortunate to have had him come to my house to go over my project. His crew was very likeable and awesome to work with. Anyone who was at my house on any given day was awesome. On first day of my project was demo day and I was so happy when I came home and my rooms were down to studs and yet my home was clean, with NO DUMPSTERS EVER IN MY DRIVEWAY. Dan's designer listened to exactly what I wanted and with my ideas and his expertise I had my dream kitchen on paper. In two months time I had my dream kitchen. Any vendor I worked with had such nice things to say about Dan. His crew is so talented and when I threw extras as the job went along, it was met with yes, we can do that and they did. I cannot say enough nice things about my experience. I walk around and I am still in awe. The woodwork and moldings are gorgeous. ahhh I had a bathroom done upstairs while my kitchen was being done and they are both gorgeous. So happy!

True craftsmen. Would highly recommend and hire again. From initial meeting to final completion, Dan, Steve, Keith and subs contracted by Island Homecraft were true professionals, respectful to my family and my home. Work was impeccable and in accordance with drawings and specifications. Milestone payments were uncomplicated and only requested after agreed to scope and phases were complete per contract. Minimal punchlist, completed in timely manner. Contractor went above and beyond to minimize change orders to bring project to completion within budget, and really helped us out with unforeseen field conditions. Schedule was maintained and Island Homecraft sequenced work to accommodate long lead items by others. Can't say enough about how refreshing it was to work and collaborate with Dan and his team.

Dan, Steve and the rest of the crew completely gutted and remodeled two bathrooms in our home. They were professional, courteous, reliable and all in all a pleasure work with throughout the entire project. We love the new bathrooms which are beautiful and so much more functional. We can't wait for them to start another project for us!

From our initial meeting with Dan Bolger, of Island Homecraft, I knew he was the contractor we would choose for our project. I have heard horror stories from friends and so I had some trepidation about hiring a contractor. Dan is extremely trustworthy and dedicated and very pleasant to deal with. His responsiveness is a characteristic your hope for, but seldom find. His team of professionals were fantastic - from demo day to completion. The carpenters are true craftsmen. The electrician and plumber and tile installers were also great. Everyone was pleasant and on time. Dan has the best communication with us throughout the project. His cabinet contact, Dominick, was outstanding. He listened and was creative. Thank you Dan for your expedience, so I had a functioning kitchen for Thanksgiving! We greatly appreciated that. I highly recommend Island Homecraft for any project - they would be my first and only call in the future. I now have the kitchen of my dreams!! Thanks again, Dan. Oh and I love my new lightlng!!

I cannot say enough good things about Dan Bolger and Island Homecraft. Dan is a fantastic project manager who brought in a great team of talented professionals. Everyone came on time and did a wonderful job, quickly, and each was pleasant, patient, and great to work with. Everyone cleaned up at the end of each day and did their best to minimize the inconvenience to our daughter. My husband and I were traveling from New Jersey to help our daughter. Dan did an amazing job in scheduling the crew and subcontractors to make it easy for us to manage our travel and to minimize the time that our daughter was unable to use her space. (I should note that we helped by having all decisions made and all materials ready – this is very important, we know.) The project required a new glass slider, which Kevin and Steve managed to fit into a very tight rough opening (another contractor had been gun-shy to attempt this). It also involved tile work, plumbing, electrical work, and installation of a large amount of cabinets, as well as all new appliances. The cabinets required finished tops since these are visible from the stairs. Kevin completed these beautifully, along with the crown moldings, baseboard trim, and special raised panels on the peninsula. Dan recommended finished under surfaces for the cabinets with LED light strips. These provided a beautiful, sleek look, and we were glad we took his advice. This was not our first rodeo, so with such a big project, we expected a few glitches. Dan and his people took these in their stride and quickly figured out the work arounds, even when it meant extra time and work for them. For instance, when the bookcase above one base cabinet turned out to be too short to quite reach the granite counter, Larry used scraps of trim left from other parts of the kitchen to craft a bottom molding that covers the gap and makes the bookcase look like a piece of fine furniture. Dan also recommended Gary Epstein and his business, 1-800-Paint-Job of Long Island, to paint the rooms when the construction was completed. Gary and his crew did a wonderful job, and we are grateful for the recommendation. Please see my separate review of Gary’s business for details and photos. We have worked with a number of contractors over the years, and Dan is up there in lights. Our daughter’s friend said the pictures do not do justice, and she is right. Many thanks to Dan’s crew, Kevin, Steve, and Larry, for the fine work they did and their courteous, considerate attitude. We look forward to working with Island Homecraft for the additional remodeling still needed at this home. We also want to thank Dan’s subcontractors for their outstanding work: • Gabco Demo arrived early the first morning and had the kitchen stripped in a couple of hours. They moved the old fridge to the living room for temporary use, were careful moving discards and debris out through the living room, and were able to get all the old linoleum tile up from the floor, even the parts stuck on especially tight. They took everything away. • Two Brothers Ceramic Tile arrived very early each day, completed their work super fast with no mistakes, and did not waste one single piece of tile. For the kitchen backsplash, they were able to stretch the marble pencil moldings to substitute for the too-thin edge pieces we’d bought, saving time and money. The tile floors are perfectly level. • Rob Beck of Biagio Plumbing lives locally and was wonderfully available and responsive. He had our daughter’s gas stove and her fridge hooked up and ready to use less than two weeks after demo began so that she could cook while she waited for her counters and other finishes. He also came back to reverse her new front load washer and dryer when we realized the doors banged into each other. Please see my separate review of Biaggio Plumbing. • Shamus, George, and their apprentice, Frank, from Sure Line Electric did a super job installing under cabinet LEDs, relocating switches, outlets, and a security sensor, replacing the porch light and a ceiling light, installing a new larger electrical box and electric for the pump for the new basement slop sink, and trouble-shooting and activating several outlets that didn’t work since the home was built. George saved a good deal of money by assuring us that the electrical panel did not require upgrading to 200 amps (as another contractor had said). He advised us instead to install a larger panel box with more outlets, eliminating the existing crowding and allowing space for the slop sink pump.

Dan and All of his guys were great! From start to finish - Dan walked us through the process, explained every detail, and presented us with very reasonable prices. During the whole job - Dan was always available to answer any question or concern that we had, and he always made sure that we were comfortable and happy throughout the job - even when some unexpected issues came up with the extra pipes in our ceiling. He is very trustworthy, knowledgeable, and transparent - which made the process of not having our kitchen available that much easier to deal with. Even with some of the unexpected issues that came up - Dan managed to keep the job within the time limit that he promised us. I would definitely hire Dan again in a heart beat!

Longer than expected because the vanity I purchased from Wayfair was damaged. Dan and his crew were great. Always left my house clean and tidy and they did the job required for the day. Dan was always responsive, even while he was on vacation. I would use Island Homecraft again.

The crew did an excellent job, they were always on time, they kept the job site clean and they showed a high level of craftsmanship. There were a lot of miter cuts on the crown molding above the cabinets and everyone was perfect. All of the subcontractors that they use were all professional and reasonable priced. I would highly recommend them to my friends and family.

Dan is professional and easy to talk to. He also made very good suggestions during our kitchen remodel and the results turned out better than we expected. The workmanship of his crew is very good. They also cleaned up nicely. Works were finished as scheduled.

Fantastic! Dan was upfront and honest. He had great ideas and really listened to our needs. We can not say enough about the craftsmanship of all the guys that did the work. We hired Island Homecraft to renovate our kitchen after a flood and were so impressed with the the work and the integrity of both Dan and his guys that we hired them again to renovate our bathroom and hallway. The process went smoothly and everyone was a pleasure to work with!

I have had conversations with friends and family over the years who are also homeowners, and we all agreed finding a reliable contractor is not the easiest task to accomplish. Dan from Island Homecraft is the exception to the rule. We hired Dan and his wonderful crew to renovate our 30 year old bathroom. Personally, I do not like the inconvenience associated with home renovation work. This was not the case with Island Homecraft. From start to finish Dan's crew did their utmost to make sure there was as minimal amount of the usual debris and mess associated with this type of work. Dan made it clear during our first meeting that he coordinates the work with his crew, would come by each day and review the previous days work, and let us know what to expect the following day. Dan made suggestions on changes we should make and listened to our suggestions on what we were looking for. We have some other projects down the road that need to be accomplished, Dan and his Island Homecraft crew will be the only ones we call. No need to look any further. Thanks again to Dan, John, Keith, and the rest of the crew for a great job.

Dan and his team were a pleasure to deal with. We had the entire kitchen and bathroom gutted and replaced. From the beginning of the job to the end they were always neat, courteous and did exactly what they said. They kept to the schedule which was completely explained to us before the job began. There were no surprises with the cost as that too was completely explained to us. Keith was the contractor who was here the most. Keith was always on time and did an unbelievable job. He had wonderful ideas and contributions to the job which truly made this a dream kitchen. We really felt that they treated this job as if it was their own. I would highly recommend Island Homecraft to anyone considering doing their kitchen and bath.

My wife and i decided to remodel our kitchen and started our search for a contractor on some of the home improvement websites. Our search lead us to Dan Bolger of Island HomeCraft. What first struck me as different during my initial call with Dan, was he wasn't just concerned with winning our business, he wanted to educate us on what to look for in any contractor we hired. We interviewed a few contractors and Island Home Craft kept outshining them all. As Dan had said in our first conversation, he wasn't going to be the most expensive or the cheapest, but the work would be of the highest quality. We hired Dan and met his carpenter Keith, who is one of the most impressive carpenters i have even met. From framing, to finish work, this man was a craftsman. His tile man Rubin, is amazing. The entire crew was professional, courteous and friendly. They kept the work area and house as clean as they could throughout the job. I saw Keith vacuuming the work area on multiple occasions at the end of the day So, if your looking for a quality contracting crew, that are both craftsman in their field and really nice guys, contact Island Home Craft and ask for Dan. I promise you'll be glad you did.

My husband and I met with Dan Bolger and his colleague Dominick several times to discuss and plan what we wanted to accomplish for our kitchen. They assisted us with a design to maximize our small space. Their expertise and patience made this entire planning and selection process very rewarding for us. We selected our flooring, cabinets, lighting, tile, and counter top. The carpenters, electrician, plumber, and work crews were prompt and worked carefully to accomplish the goals for each day. These men were skilled, knowledgeable and polite. At the end of each day, they cleaned up and reviewed with us what they had done and what was planned next. Dan Bolger, who was in charge of the project, checked on progress, addressed any and all of our concerns or questions all along the way, and let us know what work was to be done for the week and when it would occur. Dan is a wonderful professional remodeler who takes great pride in his work, the work of his team, and in his customer?s complete satisfaction. He is easy to work with, honest and fair. We highly recommend him. The final result of our renovation was a beautiful, functional and easy-to-care-for kitchen which we love!

The project went extremely well and we couldn't be happier with Dan's work. He started when he said he would and he and his guys worked steadily and neatly. He was always responsive to any concerns we expressed and he was clear from the start that his main concern was that we be satisfied with the outcome. From our first meeting he impressed us as honest, highly capable, and professional- someone who takes pride and pleasure in his work and craftsmanship and in satisfying his clients. Cost was important to us - Dan's price, we felt, was fair for the work performed and its quality. He was also very easy to deal with.
