I grew up in a circa 1950 split level house. The house has not been updated in at least 20 years [or maintained]. The house needed a complete overhaul - including electrical, plumbing, heating, and A/C, inside cosmetic, and outside. We hired Gene and his son Ryan at the referral of a close friend; to add a two floor addition and gut renovate the original house sections. The gut renovation included turning a one bedroom/garage lower level into a 2 bedroom apartment, with 1.5 baths, and a living room/patio. These guys are fantastic. They show up every day. They are honest. They are happy to explain every detail. They care and it shows. I can't remember a time I called Gene and he did not pick up his phone. If you are planning on building a house or something you want to last for 100 years - these are the guys for the task. It is quality work you can trust. To start, Gene expanded on the architect's plans during the framework creating an even better floor plan. He also recommended built-ins and pop-outs that are amazing. Once that was complete, they installed the plumbing fast/neat. Then electrical, then heating. All wonderfully neat/organized. He took the mess of wires from the side of the house and brought them inside, creating a very neat utility closet. We had old oak floors in parts of the house. He used pieces from various areas to floor the entire upstairs. They then refinished it and it looks amazing. In all other areas, they put down a great looking pine wood. We got rid of the attics and created a vaulted ceiling. He re-framed the entire support structure. The house feels 20 times bigger. They installed all new big windows; including places that did not have windows prior. Honestly, they did so much work - I can't possibly list it. We had had NO problems. I can't stress that enough. This job was not easy. I'm sure of it. The whole house was falling apart and crooked. They somehow took this old house and built it into a solid modern split level. You can only believe it if you see it. It is shocking. The house started as a single family 4 bedroom house with 2.5 baths with a single kitchen. The same house [with not much bigger footprint] now is a mother/daughter home with 6 bedrooms, 3 full baths, two half baths, two full kitchens, vaulted ceilings, all new plumbing, heating, electric, new floors, new Hardy Board siding [outside], new windows, new everything! All flawless. Gene and his son Ryan bring back an old school craftsmanship that is a breathe of fresh air. The have true pride in their work. As a last side note, they are very respectful. My mom was living on-site for most of the renovation. They were very kind and made her as comfortable as possible. I would hire then for any job, big and small. Having a contractor you can trust is priceless.

I do not think he ever read the architect plans before giving me a bid. He argued about many points until we pointed out that what he was opposing was in the architect's plans. He failed one of the building inspectors inspections and my husband wound up doing the insulation over so we passed the inspection! He did not use the materials that the architect described and told us it was "too much money." It was a horrible experience with fights all along the way.
Description of Work: We contracted for remodeling the kitchen and laundry room as well as adding a breakfast room, porch and half bath.

We asked for an estimate, he came and discussed with us what things needed to be done but we have not hear from him since. If Mr. Lazaroff believes the job is too small or any reason that unable to give us an estimate or reject the project due to personal reason, he should give us a call or message and inform us about his estimate or decision should be appropriate way . It has been waiting for 3 weeks and no estimate, no phone call or no mail. We decided to write this review today.

From start to finish it was a wonderful experience. They assessed the stability of the roof and decided it would be safe to brace it with material so the entire roof of the porch would not collapse. From there they suggested making the area larger which has turned out to be the best decision we made. I did not think it was possible with the space, but they were able to make it happen. They used top quality materials, and kept me informed every step of the way. I was very pleased with their workmanship and more importantly their work ethic. Since then, they've come back to do other projects from installing windows, installing new doors as well as closing skylights and installing a new water heater. I recently visited one of their new construction homes, and it was just as I expected, beautiful and built to perfection. I highly recommend Gene Lazaroff and Son to everyone!
Description of Work: Gene and Ryan have done several projects for us, our front deck/porch being the largest. When we first moved into our home, the front porch and roof were on the verge of collapse and I had Gene and Ryan come over to take a look at it. They were very professional and knowledgeable in their field and also suggested making the area larger, which I wasn't even sure was a possibility. But they made it happen and did a wonderful job. The quality of their workmanship is exceptional and I have recommended them to many family and friends.

He was a really nice guy. I'm not making a decision until spring so I don't know yet if I will use him. He came right out within a couple of days, he was on time, and he was professional. There were no problems.

He was great! He and the crew were very personable. At the end of each work day they spent a lot of time cleaning up. They worked in not so good weather, and the results are amazing. I can't say good enough things about him.
Description of Work: He added an extension on our home. He added a full living with a fireplace, a deck, and a carport for a second car.

Gene and Ryans' worth can NOT be captured in words. They are consumate professionals and gentlemen. They are not only experienced in building and its many aspects, they are current in their knowledge. Given their certification and knowledge in all necessary areas of the build they were able to single handedly complete the project (no subcontractors!!). They are not only capable of designing and crafting exactly what you want, they are desiring and able of "thinking outside the box" to build unique and timeless homes using top quality construction. Gene and Ryan did the work EXACTLY as they said they would EVERY day---even when we were not there!! They cleaned up every day leaving our home seemingly untouched....more importantly, they took every effort to keep our home dust free while working. They warned us about up coming "loud days" and made green product and building choices without our needing to ask simply because my partner was pregnant. They spoke openly about building and design choices and the associated costs. They educated us along the way so we could make any decisions that would effect the bottom line. They provided a price and timeline months before they began--had two unexpected events (common with remoding) and STILL finished when they promised!! It can be said that as consumers we expect builders to "know what they are doing" and "do a good job." We expect honesty and fairness and quality but what we remember and what makes us so happy to recommend Gene and Ryan is the fact that they are such quality people who are obviously proud or their craftmanship/knowledge and have every right to be so!
Description of Work: Gene and his son, Ryan, recently designed and built a two story addition to our home (including a bathroom). Prior to this work they have remodeled/fixed/installed numerous items in our home (ie designed and built mini bar under our staircase, dishwasher and island installation, upgrading our electric, repairing and upgrading our well)!!!!
