When we bought the house 15 years ago, it had the original boiler. The representative looked at it and said it is in very good shape and I can’ tell you that you need a new one, but he prompted us to add the boiler as part of our policy so that if the boiler were to conk out that they would replace it. He said, one day you might come downstairs and find the basement full of water and that happened. They came, replaced the boiler, and we didn’t have to pay a penny. It was done promptly and there was no problem. I call them anytime if I need anything and they come. Their price is reasonable as well.

When you die, Slomin's will hold your heirs responsible for a "termination fee" on your account.I am administering my brother's estate and have just been informed that because he had 19 months left on his contract, I would be responsible for an early termination fee of $978. "Since they were nice," they were willing to reduce this to $489. When I called to express my displeasure at this ridiculous request all I got was "that's our policy ma'am." They routinely charge inflated termination fees to their deceased clients. They are the only service provider that I have dealt with that did not immediately close his account and erase all charges dating back to his date of death. As a company that touts itself as being family owned and run, I am horified at this blatant disrespect of their clients and their grieving families.

Their service was great. I loved them. They were quick and everything came out perfect. They weren't the cheapest or the most expensive.

They install very quickly once I decide to use their service and there is no contract to sign. If my alarm malfunctions or I cannot get to it quickly to turn it off when I come in the house they are on the phone very quickly making sure everything is ok. If they cannot reach me on the phone they immediately call the police. I have had a couple of minor problems with things I did not understand about the control box in the house and when I called them about it they answered immediately without any waiting time. Once I was not sure what they were telling me and as such I took my potable phone with me to the control box and they walked me through it step by step. They are great and I do not have any complaints about them. I would use them again in the future.

They will call if the alarm goes off to make sure it was not an accident. They always verify your password.

They are very nice and responsive. They are good with repairs. They are very easy to deal with.

I have a five year contract with them. I'm happy with their service. My overall experience with them has been excellent.

I have used them in the past and they let me lock in a low price for the oil for the year, so that is why I went back to them. I did not have heat and they didn't come for a week in a half, so I was not happy about that.

I will continue to use them. I pay $70 bi-monthly.

They had their own guys and I possibly will use them again in the future.

We Signed up for a one year oil contract......in August 2010....after 9 months.....they wouldn`t deliver anymore !! They broke the contract....stating we used our allotment of oil....& they would not deliver until the end of October & the prices would now be much higher. Allotment ???.....they never mentioned that when the 2 Salesmen were in our Kitchen closing the deal.They don`t know how many people live here or how much oil we use. They didn`t want to honor that agreementso they Broke It ! Steer Clear !!! Just Another Greasy Crooked Oil Company....big Surprise !Shop Elsewhere.....& save yourself $$$ & Headaches !!!

The salesman, Stan Goodman was a good guy. Honest and down to earth, you can feel comfortable with what he is telling you. The install was amazing. I don't quite remember the installers name (Greg, I believe?). He did a fantastic job. Worked very hard and did the hard wired install very neat! I am happy with the customer service in my experiences of talking to them, and their website is user friendly to manage payment of your accounts with Slomins. I would recommend to anyone. In fact, I already have, and received a 3 month credit to my Alarm bill for doing so!

They arrive on time and they make sure they confirm with you. They are flexible with their installations. They have no hidden charges. I have recommended them to friends. I have a continuous contract with them, and I have used them for years and plan to use them for years in the future. The only thing they would get less than an A in is they don?t always know everything about all their products. They installed infra read censors in my house, and I needed one that would allow my pet to move during the day without going off. They installed one, and said that it would be fine, and my cat was able to walk around, but when she would jump up or move rather quickly, it would set it off, but I got the appropriate adjustments done to allow for the cat?s movement. Other than that, I would highly recommend them

It is a big security company. We have had them for about 25 years now. Every five years, as long as you stay with them, they will do a complete upgrade of the system at no additional charge. My experience with them has been very good. We are very pleased with their service. They keep the equipment up to state of the art. We have never had a break-in. We always use it and they maintain it very well. There have been a couple of times when the alarm went off because the kids didn?t turn it off on time and so, they called to see if there were any problems. They even have a system which is like an alarm monitoring in the phone system wherein if anybody tries to cut the phone line, then it will automatically send them an alarm and they send the police. I would definitely use their services in the future too.

I like them because of their prices. They are a big company in the area. They do home security and heating services. The service was free because I get the oil from them. Once a year, they come out and clean things out. They do the annual cleaning. I like their automatic service. I don?t have to call them for the oil. They seem to be able to predict when I need the oil and they just keep delivering it, without any interruptions. I have a contract with them. They estimate on their own how much I am going to use based on my past usage. I will use them for a couple of years because they have roped me in an alarm contract. They have signed me up for a five-year deal with them. They are not the only company to do that. I will continue to use them in the future.

The salesman who came over was a very hard seller. I ended up signing an oil supply, furnace maintenance, and alarm system contract with them. I was not told, but after careful examination of the contracts noticed that the alarm monitoring contract was for 5 years, would rise on an annual basis, and that the oil contract had a yearly minimum. I know, I shouldn't have signed, but the guy was a very hard closer. Upon further research, I discovered that the price I get was not competetive, so I cancelled the oil supply and furnace maintenance contracts within the legally permitted 3 day period. Talked to 3 different service reps on November 10th who refused to send me email or other written confirmation of my cancellation. One service rep suggested I fax my cancellation notice to a "Customer Retention" department, which I did. Upon attempting to call the "Customer Retention" department to confirm my fax was received, the customer service rep refused to connect me to the department. Was told that I would receive written notification of the cancellation, which I still have not received. I got so nervous from my dealings with customer service that I fedexed my cancellation notice to them to assure that they had a written notice of my cancellation and that I had documented proof.

First, I must mention that we chose Slomin's Shield mainly because we had called two other alarm companies and one didn't show up for the estimate and the other couldn't come for several weeks. The gentleman who came for Slomin's was on time, professional and we felt good about buying the system with him. Everyone we have dealt with there has been very nice, but the service has not been as good as we had hoped it would be. We were told that it may take a couple of weeks for an installation person to come out, but someone would contact us to make the appointment. A couple of weeks passed and no one contacted us. We had to call them to make the appointment. A couple of weeks after that, someone came out and installed the system. He was very nice, but left some wires behind. It wasn't a mess, we just didn't know what to do with a spool of wire. Less than a week after the installation, we're having problems with the battery and have to have someone come out again. And we also got a bill for charges that I did not realize that we had to pay for. They are very clever in not adding up the total cost of the service on the invoice and it makes it very confusing as to how much you are paying. I hope that they will be responsive if the alarm ever goes off, but so far we have not had the best experience with their costumer support.

They are a fuel company that also does alarms. I'm not satisfied with their prices and I think it is standard that you are stuck with them on a contract. I believe I have a four-year alarm. It's very difficult to get a better oil price when you are tied into them with the alarm contract. The oil you can do monthly, but not the alarms. I would prefer that they were more negotiable, so you could get out of the contract if you were not satisfied. They really didn't disclose that fairly to me when I entered into the contract. They were very secretive about how long you were going to be hooked up for. I'm not sure if they are any worse than any of the other alarm companies because I think that is how all of them work. They fill the oil tanks about three times a year. They are slow in terms of responding to service calls. They are not negotiable in terms of their price even when I told them I could get a lower price and I am stuck with them due to the alarm. When I am done with my contract, I will not continue to use their services.

We had repairs done on the house and called them to upgrade our alarm system. We had a contract with them at that time. We scheduled it about 6 weeks in advance. They kept me home waiting and waiting and never came. Every time I called the girl asked for my phone number but no one ever called to say they would be late or not coming or to reschedule. Nothing. Eventually someone came on the fourth date at 7PM and announced he did not know what to do, so he was leaving. Before he left however, he damaged my window and eventually I had to have it replaced because it was leaking in the rain.

It went fine. They were priced as promised.

They were on time and the installation technician was very knowledgable. Everything was done very neatly and it was a good experience. As predicted, the installation took 2 days and on the second day the technician's supervisor even stopped by to make sure that I was happy with everything and see if I had any questions.

They're kind of expensive and a little slow in responsiveness on emergency calls.

Our oil burning furnace/hot water heater died on us, leaving a big puddle of water in the basement and no hot water for us on a Sunday night. After a service call from another company determined that it needed to be replaced, we called around on Monday and got a bunch of estimates. Slomin's responded quickly and was able to quote me over the phone, only having to send a guy out to inspect later on to verify that there was nothing unusual that would bring the cost up. They were able to get the inspector there the next morning, and schedule the installation for the morning after that. Slomin's at $4800 was the most expensive quote, but they were also the only ones to offer a good financing plan. $750 down, the balance paid off monthly for 36 months at 0% interest. They also offered what seemed to be the highest quality equipment (Peerless WBV-03 cast iron boiler, Riello burner.) We got lower quotes from other companies, but they quoted inferior equipment and did not offer their own financing plans. Since I don't just have $5k laying around, the 36-months no interest was a no brainer. They got the old unit out and the new unit in very quickly, and everything seems to be working great now. It's worth it for the 36-months 0% financing alone.

I was very disappointed at the disposition of the salesman (Joe P.). He came into my house with a very uncaring attitude. I had Slomin's come to my house 2 years ago for an estimate, with extras it was $735. This time those same extras (windows, extra motion detector, Key FOB, etc) came to $1163. The rep. didn't even attempt to explain the difference nor offer much of any information... I had to do the talking. Everything from his body language (crossed arms, no eye contact etc.) told me something wasn't right. This happened when I told him I was fielding other offers and that Slomin's has an abysmal Better Business (BBB) record. I really don't know what happened to this company, they used to advertise like crazy, but BBB shows multiple arbitrations etc. They also have a 5-year service contract which is probably the longest in the business. There is no other price option for a smaller contract. True, their base system with a key pad, motion detector, 3 doors, siren, power supply and battery backup is free, but this guy tried taking me in my own home... it's one thing to go to a store, but I'm not gonna be robbed to prevent robberies in my house. Their monitoring is among the cheapest though at $28.45 per month/billed quarterly (but they will increase up to 4% per year). I was really hoping to do business with them, but this representative let me down and his company. He didn't even tell me about their monitoring station location and abilities. So SLO long Slomin's...you only get one shot to make a 1st impression. The only alarm you should be aware of with this company is their sales people.

Very courteous staff. Came on time and finished on time.
