I have a big oil tank and I drain the oil like I use it and they come back and fill the oil tank up so based on how much I use they come back and top up the oil tank. They're great I would give them straight A's across the board because they're very responsive, reliable.

It was a lot of money. They are pretty good. I had everything alarmed, all my windows, and it was more money. They give you a flat fee, and if you add more things it is your choice, and I added a lot. They have offices all over.

I used Slomin's Inc. They were here four or five months ago. It was under my service contract. They're liars and they're manipulators. They say they're on the way and they show up ten to twelve hours later. It's to worst company that anyone would want to associate themselves with. They're a horrible group of people.

It wasn't put in by the company so I don't know what I could say about it. So far it's fine. They're an oil company. We have used them for a number of years. The burner I had was ancient so they had to replace it.

Extremely unprofessional company. When you call for service, they try to schedule you way out. I made a no hot water call, and they told me they could not come for a week. After complaining to them and asking for the manager. I finally got them to come in a day. I paid $151 for the contract, which covers nothing. When I tried to schedule a cleaning in August, they told me they could not come until after October, which was beyond my contract date. Their contract automatically renews, which is illegal in NY state. I sent them a letter telling them that I would not be renewing with them on the contract renewal date. They called me right after and told me they were terminating my service immediately, which violated the terms of the contract. I had just gotten a delivery of oil from them and told them that they were bound to provide service until the termination date. They told me that since I was no longer on automatic delivery, the contract was void. Total BS! They are a really sleazy company. I would never deal with them again. They try to bully the consumer and do not abide by their contract. Good riddance.

For 21 years I had a service contract with Slomins, who by the way was the company that installed my central air unit. I paid my contract every year, on time. For 20 of those years my unit didn't need any repairs. This year in the middle of a NY July, with an elderly mother who has breathing problems in the heat and two aging dogs who also don't do good in the heat, my outside unit stopped working, condenser fan not running and unit making a humming noise. On 7-8-15 I called for service, thinking that since I have been paying them for 20 years, which comes come to around $5000 over that time, that I would get a technician(s) who knew what they were doing. I guess I was wrong. The 1st tech came in changed the run capacitor, which they charged me $60 and I found it on Amazon for $15, said everything was good and left. While at work and my family home in the heat, I mointored the house temp on my phone and found after 6 hours the temp dropped 3 degrees the whole time. When I got home I found the unit not running again and heat coming off of it could be felt from more then 3 feet away. I turned off the disconnect and called for service again. The next day, 7-9-15, a different technician showed up. He checked the capacitor again and found it good. Put his gauges on the unit and said the compressor looks good and pretty much stood there scratching his head while on the phone with his supervisor who seemed to be talking him through what to look for. I told him we should cycle the unit with the thermostat to test the unit. I did the first one through my phone and the unit ran fine. I guess he didn't want to waste time waiting for the unit to cycle through the thermostat and timing relay so he started to cycle the unit using the disconnect blade. Unit kept turning on until one last time when it looked like he didn't put the blade in right and locked up my compressor. He then tells me that my compressor is beginning to fail and I should get a whole new unit. He said the compressor was stopping because the thermal overload. (This actual protects the unit from over heating) He wrote up on the service sheet to replace unit and air handler in attic since they are the same age. He also told me to spray down the compressor with a garden hose to cool it off faster. I got a call from their sale dept a day later and a whole new unit was going to cost me $8100. After I hung up and thinking about the 2nd techs diagnoses that didn't sit right with me, I decided to troubleshoot it myself. I have 20 years experience as an electrician/technician at a large cosmetic company here on Long Island. After going through the schematics and doing my own troubleshooting, I found that the compressor was working fine and that it was the condener fan that was causing the problem all along. The windings were breaking down. I went on Ebay and got the same make and model of the fan motor for $140. I installed it myself and my AC has been running perfectly. I know this is a long review but people need to know Slomins. If I trusted Slomins service guy I be out $8100 and still by sitting in the heat. I also went to their web site on 7-15-15, and clicked on "Contact us" and wrote them a detailed letter of everything that happened with my problem and how displeased I was with their whole service and I never heard one peep out of them. No return email or phone call. I will never have anything to do with Slomins again. It's killing me that I had to send in the $60 for the capacitor that they installed. Beware of Slomins! I wish I did!!!

We are contractually bound for 30-some-odd years with them. They supplied the first thing and they are fine. We have had no problems. If there are any issues they check it and test it yearly. If I have questions they are easy to work with and they are average-priced compared to national companies. I pay $30 monthly plus tax.
Description of Work: For alarms we still use Slomin's. They were here three months ago to do their regular service call and to replace a contact at no charge.

I recently experienced a break-in at my family home which prompted me to call Slomin's. They were extremely understanding of my situation and sent an alarm representative to my house for a consultation that same day. He was very knowledgeable but not pushy. They were able to install the system the next day and the technician programmed everything to my specifications. I love being able to check in on my kids/the sitter from my phone throughout the day. I have been very impressed with the quality of service so far.

My husband and I have been Slomin?s customers for over 15 years and have always received excellent service from them. We use them as our oil company as well as our alarm company. The site survey started with the Rep arriving 20 mins late for the appt. , only after I called her to see if she was still coming. She walked through and gave us a verbal quote for the system and monitoring. She had no physical info (pamphlets, brochures, or visual aides of any kind) to give us. I asked her for a written quote, which she said she would email to me. 2 days later, still having not received it, i emailed her to remind her of the quote. After 2 more days, and still having not received a written quote, I emailed Slomin's Customer Service. They were very apologetic and asked if they could refer my account to another rep. I responded yes. The next day I got a written quote from the original Rep, but was not contacted by a new rep. There are too many Security Cos. out there to have to put up with this. Obviously Slomin's is unfamiliar with Customer Service and Respect.

Terrible experience on the first delivery. I should have read all of the complaints about this company online before biting at a cheap price. I called the company and asked them to delay my first delivery for a month because I was still in contract with my old oil company. After speaking with a supervisor I was told that this would be ok. A week later they delivered oil. When I called, I was told that a supervisor would call me back that day which didn't happen. When I called the next day they said that a supervisor would call me back. I got a call from Doug who said that "it happens". My old oil company has informed me that I am still in contract with them for one more delivery to which Doug said "let them come and deliver 10 gallons", to which my old oil company strongly disagreed with. In any event, I am a man of my word, and I told Doug that I would tell everyone who would listed what a terrible experience I had, and how poor and unresponsive there customer service is

One week later the system is dead. No call from security people saying they lost the signal. not great since we were on vacation. When calling for service the representative was rude and didn't have a service technician available for weeks after it was just installed.

The day before we called to find out what time the installation was scheduled since none was provided. This being a home security system where the install might take some time we figured this was a pretty normal request. Unfortunately, not only could they not provide a time, they said they wouldn't know until the day of if it was going to be a 5 hour window from 8am-1pm or 1-6pm. At this stage we said we needed to know and not have such a long window on a long term service contract of a fairly expensive home security system. They continued to insist it wasn't possible and that is not how they work. We then asked to cancel our service and contract which they said we couldn't do because no one was available in the cancellation department and that if we refused our install we would still be charged for the deposit. This has to be the worst run business I have encountered in a long time and I've seen some bad ones. How do you have a customer with a deposit and a scheduled install date and lose them because you can't do something as simple as let them know when you are coming so they don't have to lose an entire day waiting around.

Terribly, they will lock you into the contract with absolute 0 flexibility. Spouse lost job in summer of 2012, all other service providers were willing to work with me around contracts (and I've stayed with them all since my spouse has returned to work). Slomins' was absolutely inflexible. The only Slomin's shield is their contract with you that they will throw in your face. After selling the residence in July of 2013 and moving, I had to again deal with them which finally resulted in a cancellation of the agreement. I would never use this company in the future.

We buy fuel, security and a/c maintenance and most recently used Slomin's for a quote to relocate our central a/c condenser. They were ok on price, but our past experience has made us wary of them. Past work on our boiler and hot water systems have been mediocre at best. We've been customers for a long while but over the past 10 years or so they have just gotten too big. We are going with another Angie's List local a/c contractor.

Description of Work: Well same as other persons complaint. salesman came to my house to sell me oil for the heating season. Being that they were higher priced than what I was paying I refused but before he would leave my house he basically scared me into a "free" alarm system. Made me sign and pay for three months monitoring and certificate for the police so I basically paid 200.00 and didn't see them until April when they could install. Well as they were installing this "free" alarm I was asking questions. tURNS OUT MY HOUSE COULD NOT BE ALARMED FOR FREE, I HAVE A SPLIT LEVEL AND IT WOULD COST ME 800-900.00 IF I WANTED MY HOUSE COMPLETELY ALARMED. WELL YOU TELL ME WHATS THE POINT OF A HALF ALARMED HOUSE? MANAGER WAS HORRIBLE AND THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING, THEY WOULDNT MEET ME HALF WAY/ THEY WERE ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!! THIS IS MY THIRD HOUSE AND I HAD THE OTHER TWO HOUSES ALARMED AND THEY WERE UPFRONT AND HONEST, SLOMINS WAS NOT!! THEY WERE JUST LOOKING FOR A SALE FROM A SINGLE MOM.

Well I refused the oil services, prices were higher and financially I didn't know if I could afford them. Then he proceeded as I was showing him to my door so he can leave, to say to me, "you don't have an alarm system, a single mother of four boys? That's not safe" So he discussed with me the "FREE" alarm absolutely free nothing to lose, all I had to pay was the monitoring, which I believe was 29.00 a month. " I said I could afford that". I signed some contracts, gave him a check for I believe 191.00 3 months monitoring and I believe 100.00 for the permit (certificate). He left stating someone will contact me for an appointment to install the system. They came in April 2011 As he was installing the system I asked him what was happening? He explained, I stopped him and said not to continue this alarm is no good for my home it will not work. He called his manager. I spoke to his manager who was rude and obnoxious and stated basically too bad. If you want the alarm to suit your home it will cost you 800-900.00 extra. There was a major problem here and they were to get back to me. I told them take the alarm I DO NOT WANT IT!!! I wanted a FREE alarm that alarmed MY home and this does NOT. We went back and forth on the phone someone came out to my house. Bottom line was this alarm was not going to protect my family unless I paid the extra 900.00 which I was not able to nor willing to pay. I asked them over and over to remove the alarm system it has NEVER BEEN USED, ever!!! They hired attorneys whom I sent letters to and they also NEVER responded or made any arrangements to work with me. Now they have had the NERVE to put negative notices to my credit and I am being denied.
Description of Work: I was called to have a gentlemen come to my house to discuss "oil" prices, it was February and heating season. I refused the services so the salesman was not leaving till he had me hooked some how. He convinced me I certainly couldn't be raising children without an alarm system. Ps this "FREE" alarm system did not alarm MY home so in order for it to actually PROTECT my home it would cost me another 900.00. I then asked them to take their alarm I DO NOT WANT IT!!! they did nothing and actually had the nerve to sue me for 2000.00 STAY AWAY FROM THEM, THEY ARE LEGAL CROOKS!!!

The sales guy was good; he left out a little information but we had done our research about them and knew we were going to go with them. He told us we could get wireless but when the installer came he told us there was no such thing.
