K.N. Heating and Cooling

Got matched with K.N. through Home Advisor. They contacted be promptly and we discussed the repair work that needed to be done. We arranged for a time to meet later that same day, which got pushed back a few hours, but it is what it is. Kevin arrived and was polite and knowledgeable. He quickly diagnoses the problem with my AC unit and repaired it quickly. Did not try to upsell me and was fair with price. Would hire again.

So my central air stopped working. Turns out my lines were frozen. K&N tells me nothing I can do now. Turn off the unit so it can defrost fully and we will see you the next day at 8:00. Next day I call K&N @ 9:10, they tell me he's just leaving to come to me now but shows up at 10:30. Diagnosed the system and tells me your low on freon and adds 1lb, which isn't alot for a 2003 unit. Unit stops working 2 hours after he leaves, call him back and due to conflicting schedules he was unable to come back for 2 days. It is now 2 weeks and I still haven't heard from him.

On the hottest day of the year our Central A/C went out. The interior temperature in the house was over 90 degrees.... I called one of the better known companies in the area and they came out looked at the unit for just a few minutes, said the condenser was shot and could not be repaired - they then sent somebody over to give me an estimate for a new A/C system and gave a quote of thousands of dollars. Despite the heat, before jumping into such a big purchase, I wanted a second opinion.... I went to HomeAdvisor for a referral. Within 10 minutes of my HomeAdvisor inquiry I received a call from Kevin of KN. I explained the situation and he said he’d be over in a couple of hours. When he arrived he took the entire u it apart, I told him what the tech from the better known company told/showed me and Kevin began to diagnose the issue. He said the condenser could in fact be shot but he also suggested that the issue could simply have to do with the wiring to the condenser and started to look at that. Ultimately he was right about the wiring. The wire contact to the condenser had come off and that was why there was no power to the 7nitl. He went to his truck, got a new wire, installed it along with a new capacitor, reconnected the system and presto, with these relatively inexpensive parts the unit was up and running once again and as I write this the temperature in my house is a comfortable 73 degrees. The moral to this story is to stick with the small business owner — Kevin knows his trade, took the time to diagnose the issue, did not give up, is reasonably priced and did not try to up sell like the better known company did. I would gladly refer Kevin/KN to anybody who needs HVAC repair.
