I had previous experience with BQ on several other items at my home. For my master bedroom/bathroom renovation we reviewed the scope, I received a fair lump-sum price, and when we needed them for both the roughing and finish work they were easy to schedule, and did the work well. It is a pleasure to work with them- Fair, honest, and reliable.

Work was done neatly, promptly, and professionally and at a great price. Will definitely use them again.

This is an update to my review of November 7th 2014. I have used BQ Electric several more time since my November 7th review. The first time I used them I had major work done in my house. The subsequent times were minor jobs. The crew performed the minor jobs the same way they performed the major job. They arrived on time notifying me a half hour before they would be arriving at my house. Bill and his crew were friendly and efficient paying attention to every detail no matter how small the job. Brian, the owner is always helpful giving estimates and scheduling the jobs quickly. Anytime I have an electrical question I call Brian and he takes the time to discuss the different options with me. Just as recently as yesterday he came to my house to give me advice on some electrical work that has to be done in my backyard. He is honest about what "needs" to be done and what would "be nice" to have. I would highly recommend BQ Electric. I would not use any other electric company.

Bill and his crew were prompt, friendly, and at a competent pace. I liked their care to detail by also wearing clean sneakers while on their tarps when working inside my parent's house. The work done looks clean and solid. The final walkthrough of work was careful (marking which rooms to which circuits) and produced no issues. Work was finished early on in the day allowing me to run other errands. Overall I liked the job they did and would recommend them.

It went very well. Everyone on the team is great. They went above and beyond to make sure work was done correct and on time.

Brian was courteous and knowledgeable in regards to his business. His worker was efficient and helpful in explaining the problem. They corrected the issue in a timely manner.

Following the inspection, Brian, the owner followed up with a detailed analysis and list of recommendations. I felt very comfortable because Brian focused on the safety issues and offered a project plan that was customized for my immediate needs and budget. Brian was also flexible and helped me stay within my budget without compromising the critical areas for repair. A week later, Brian's team provided excellent service, they: replaced my entire amp voltage to bring it up to contemporary standards, repaired poor wiring and lighting that had not been professionally done, installed GFI protection and other needed protections to prevent overload. Bill is super knowledgeble and proud of his work, treated my home like his own even took his boots off when entering and used drop clothes throughout. Christian, Tommy, Jamie: the quality of their work surpassed only by their friendliness and respectful manner in which they worked in my home. They cleaned up neatly and stayed late to make sure I understood everything they did and even set my front porch light timer on they way out!

I didn't realize that when they were coming that there were different quality fans. The fan that they installed was one of the less expensive models. I would've gotten something a little bit better for it, but the installation was fine. It was successful and it works. It was setup initially a week or two earlier, but they couldn't show up. They did come a couple of weeks later, brought the fan and installed it. They had to cut a hole in the roof. I would probably have paid for a better fan because the fan that's there doesn't have a protective mesh on the top. If you go into the attic and lift your hands you could potentially lose a finger. It's a storage area. It's not someplace where it would usually go, but I would've probably paid for a better fan. They didn't come out the first time, so I had to call them and setup another appointment. They had made a mistake in their office.

Pros: (1) Team was very professional. examples: showed up promptly (or at least reasonably close to the agreed upon time), Kept my house clean (they laid down drop cloths by front door, always took off their boots and either wore socks or changed to sneakers in the house, vacuumed up all remnants of the work) (2) Work was completed with no corners cut. Even though this ended up taking much longer than anticipated on day 1, they stayed until the work was done. (3) Very friendly guys on the jobsite. Answered all my questions. Cons: (1) A few mistakes were made (but fixed and / or some $$ were taken off the agreed upon price by Brian). For example: while working in the attic, one high-hat was accidentally kicked causing it to come through the ceiling below. (2) Since the work ran over on day 1 (guys were at the house until 10pm friday night), Brian sent another crew out Monday morning to finish things up. This was fine and I appreciate them quickly returning to finish the job - but I had to take off another day of work to meet them. Overall, I had a GOOD experience and would hire again.

First we had the inspection performed. The electricians were very nice and took the time to explain some things to us as well as answer our questions. They labeled our fuse box which was never done before. There was no pressure about any of the areas they checked such as this is bad and needs to be fixed right away,etc. After the inspection, we were contacted by Brian to review the results of the inspection. I must say I was expecting there to be many issues as the house is older and had been somewhat of an expense over the last year or so. Brian, who is the owner, came to my home and reviewed each of their findings. Surprisingly most of the issues were based on the previous owners "upgrades". There was absolutely no pressure to repair items. As a matter of fact there were items that Brian indicated did not have to be done now. Most of the findings were results of not having the proper voltage for what we were using it for - low voltage for appliances, etc. The team came to the house during one of the bad snowstorms, and they stayed all day. They were very neat, and cleaned up after themselves where you wouldn't have known they were there. As I was signing off on the job, I looked out and saw two of the guys shoveling. I would not hesitate to recommend them and I plan on using them in the spring for some outside worth to be done.

It did not work out so well. I had a bad situation with them. There was a mix up with the appointment and things like that. We made an appointment and they said they showed up but didn't ring the bell and said they called my cell but it was so early it was off. They didn't even knock. The service was fine but they were suppose to follow up and didn't based on the report. I needed a bunch of work done and planned on using them but decided not to. The staff here doing the job was good.

I liked the service I was provided and I highly recommend BQ Electric. The Electricians arrived on time. The price I was quoted was the price I paid, no nonsense. The weather was awful (completed the job during the same storm they shutdown the subways in NYC) and they still showed up on time and they were very professional. The electric works great and my panel looks like artwork. When I got my estimate from them they were straight forward and took time to explain things. I only wish every service I dealt with was as straight forward and simple as it was with BQ Electric. You get what you pay for and they show up on time.

Brian coordinated all aspects of the project and stayed in communication with us. All of his crew and subcontractors were polite, prompt and respectful of our house. Brian provided a lower cost alternative to us and although this did not meet our needs, we appreciate being offered the option. I have no hesitation recommending Brian and BQ electric.

Their price was fair. They estimated the electric to be out for ten hours while they worked, but it was more like six hours to finish. I liked their guarantee and they were pretty nice. They came and worked on my schedule. I had no issues with them. They were excellent.

As I write this, I can hear the wind whistling outside my window and I can see the snow and ice left from the storm that hit Long Island hard earlier this week. But now I feel completely confident in the knowledge that my entire house is up to code and is as safe as it can be. Brian's teams left a few hours ago taking with them all my worries about the condition of the electrical system in my old Levittown house. Everything went according to plan: the electricians' work was beyond my power to adequately describe. It was fascinating to watch them move through the process of pulling wires about the house, installing new plugs, receptacles and circuits for every major appliance in the house. Something very unsettling occurred when Bill, BQ's top trouble-shooting electrician, was pulling some wires around our panel box. He needed to pull off the paneling under the box and spotted a wire leading to an air conditioning unit on the second floor that had been wedged into the outer wall of the house - a tremendous fire hazard - the wire was not on its own circuit and not in a receptacle of its own, just hidden beneath the panel box in the actual wood of the house! Had he not pulled the paneling away from around the bottom of the box, this dangerous and improper wire would never have been seen by anyone. In a perfect storm of electrical system failure, this one wire could have caused us to lose our house and potentially our lives. ALL his work stopped until he figured out where this wire was going and how to keep it from causing a disaster in our home! The point is, another electrician might have/could have let it go... not told us... pretended to not notice it. Who would've known? Once that panel was put back in place, No One would've known! Bill simply said, "I couldn't live with my conscience if I didn't do something about that wire. To hide a wire like this in the wall of a house is simply playing with people's lives; it's immoral." The entire house was upgraded in the two days as promised. The men cleaned any debris and put back every item that was displaced. Each appliance in my kitchen, the clothes dryer in my garage and the garage door opener were tested to ensure that everything worked properly. Believe me, the wiring in my house was in a dangerous and shocking state but without that first inspection, we never would've known it. I had a cosmetically lovely kitchen that was internally a complete electrical nightmare but BQ's smart electricians were undaunted by its challenges. I have never seen such creative quick thinking in action in a critical situation. They devised new routes around all the bad work that had been done in the kitchen and in the garage too. They are also personally each and every one of them, a pleasure to know, to laugh with, to learn from and to depend upon.

Did not initially get a write up or report. Bryan has been very quick to respond though and address any questions / issues.

First I got a really good deal for BQ Electric to come out to my house and do a full inspection of the home. It was great! Bill was amazing! Found a ton of issues that needed to be addressed. The main one being my 1950 electrical box and meter. There was water leaking into it. 3 things connected to one 15 breaker break etc. After the inspection Brian came over my house to show me what the issues were and the amount. The price was way less than I expected seeing the scope of work that needed to be done, itemized it and on top of that Brian took off a few hundred bucks that made it even more appealing. I jumped on it immediately. Jimmy and his partner came nice and early. Even gave me a courtesy call when they were leaving to head over. They did an excellent job. Organized everything. Made sure to take care of all the leak. I wish I could post a pictures. All in all I would definitely recommend BQ to do work and I'm going having them come back next month to knock a few other things off the list for me.

We are really happy with Brian and his team. Everyone was very professional, and neat. The price was also very reasonable. Brian also took his time to answer all our questions. We will definitely use them again in the future!

Everything went great, the guys came checked everything and fixed the problem. They were very professional and more importantly nice people. I would definitely use the company again.

All's well that ends well. What started off as something that should have been a quick job turned out to be 6 hours. Through no fault of the guys that came, one of the low-voltage wires they chose to power the new thermostat (the "common" wire) had a problem that resulted in 2 transformers blowing delaying the completion of the job as they had to leave to find a local electrical supply store to buy suitable replacements. It took a great effort by the guys (who by the way, were determined to see this work) to figure out which wire was actually causing the problem. Once they isolated the problem (which was a pain-staking game of elimination one by one of each of the wires) the job went quick and the new thermostat is working great. The guys were patient, diligent and took great pains to make sure everything was working after they got done. I would absolutely use them again if I needed any other electrical work done.

I was very impressed with the amount of time Brian took to discuss a small job with a new customer.
