RELIABLE APPLIANCE

I am never one to write negative stuff about a business but i feel so taken advantage of and have never experienced such awful treatment before. If you are in need of an appliance repair do not use reliable appliance - owner is John. Early this June my garage fridge (only 5 years old) stopped getting cold. I came on here asking for a rec bc Pete the appliance guy no longer services fridges! He was the best! I found a local company and called and receptionist tells me it’s $120 for them to come out and see problem and if I don’t use them then I pay the $120. He comes and says the freezer fan is broken and that’s why fridge isn’t getting cold- he says he has part in the truck. I ask how much to fix issue and he says $386 ( this fridge was only $500 new, but who wants to be stuck with that $120 charge or the trouble of having to buy a new one?!) so i reluctantly say yes, bc I’m between a rock and a hard place. As they’re working i look up the part on Amazon and see that they upcharged astronomically for it. on Amazon it ranged from $14 - 29. I get inflation, but this is insanity. They charged me 386 total ($165 for part, i guess the rest labor). Well they Didn’t fix the problem. My fridge never got cold enough to be food safe. I had a thermometer inside. He had to come back two more times. First time fiddles around says it will get to 63 degrees by next day. It doesn’t. I wait a bit longer and go check to find the fridge is off. It’s plugged in but it’s now dead and everything in my freezer is mush. He comes back and He tries to say it was my outlets that were the problem and to call my electrician. I did and he charged me $50 for the visit to tell me that the gfi outlets were perfect, and that they clicked off every time I was plugging in only the fridge. The fridge was shot. Garbage. Called to tell John this thru his receptionist and she relays message snd calls back and said he would give me half of the money back. I thought that was a horrible deal, because now i am out of money for nothing and i lost food and need a new fridge but I agreed. She says his wife writes the checks. It took his almost one month to send me a check. I called 3x a week to ask where it was! Always got the run around from receptionist, she says it’s in the mail. Lying to me. no one ever calls me back when they say they will do I have to stay on top of it to get my reimbursement. When I received the check it was only for $165 for the price of the part , not the $193 which would be half back like I was promised. Now I am calling daily again to see where the rest of the money is. I know it’s only $28, but it’s the principal! Getting the same run around and no response or call back. Telling me it was in the mail Tuesday, and today saying I’m sure I’ll have it in a week or two. I flipped out. He lives in the same town. No way it will take that long. This is a horrible unprofessional company who upcharges for parts because they know that people will do it because they don’t want to be stuck with the $120 charge if you don’t go ahead with they’re service. I am still dealing with this in august and they came beginning of June! Once they have the money they don’t care. But they say they guarantee they’re work ! It’s all over they’re invoices and truck- they guarantee it!!!! My fridge was put on the curb back in June. And now I have $221 + the $50 charge from my electrician LESS to spend on a new fridge.. don’t let this happen to u. I wish I had done more research because as I look thru different review platforms now I see they’ve don’t this exact thing to other people also. 😩😢

Response, service, and quick response on Christmas Eve was a life saver.

I needed my refrigerator fixed and contacted Reliable. I was told they could be there first thing Monday morning. John and his partner showed up promptly and gave the diagnosis of the fridge in seconds. Instead of paying a large amount for the repair (which they explained)they recommended I purchase a new one. They only charged me $50 for the visit (lower then the price I was given). If an appliance breaks again (hoping not) I will contact Reliable!

After the horrendous experience I had with Planet Appliance, I tried this one because it was the only other recommendation that I received from Angie's list. It turned out to be the same company under another name. Paul was asked to call me and make an appointment. He ignored the request. I found out that was what he decided to do by accident when I called the office back after they called him to find out why he hadn't called me. I have a professional appliance repair service coming tomorrow. I will not pay $600.00 to a repair service that has abusive, disrespectful repairmen. I assume that's the price with this service because that's what the other service charges. I don't know because Paul was too busy being nasty and angry for no reason instead of telling me the price. Thus, I'll never use this service. And I don't recommend them.

Would absolutely hire again. Will use him for all my appliance repair issues and have already passed his business card to two family members. I felt like I was in good hands with John. Its clear that he takes pride in his work and knows the value of good customer service.

This is the second time I've used Reliable Appliance, and the FIRST review I have ever taken the time to write. John is the owner of the company, and he is the one that comes to fix your appliance. It is wonderful to have the same technician every time. He is prompt, efficient, professional and clean. After he has successfully fixed your appliance, he always cleans up (with his own vacuum). John always gives a fair price, even allows you to pay cash. If the office doesn't answer their phone, you leave a message and they call you back, immediately! Most importantly, for me, they come at the agreed time. Sometimes, even a few minutes earlier. I would highly recommend John's Reliable Appliance!
