The order and installation went well. But I was told they were no longer affiliated with Angie's List and no discounts, etc. were being offered, so I'm confused that I'm being asked for a review. But the transaction went well.

Scheduling was very easy. They said, when do you want somebody there? I told them and somebody was here within a very short time. I don't remember exactly, it might have been two weeks, they came back to install the closets. The installer was fast and everything was done perfectly. He was respectful of where he was and made sure that everything was cleaned up. He put coverings on the floor so he can put his tools down. It was just a very good experience. I think the price for what I got was really good. Even the person who was doing the measuring, when she came to do all the measuring and stuff, she was very accommodating and very thorough.
Description of Work: They did custom-builds in two large closets.

I would neve recommend CC, nor would I use them again. Both the local franchise and home office (HQ) were UNWILLING TO HELP.
Description of Work: I retained CC to redo all closets in my home. Absolutely the worst experience imaginable. Their workman arrived one day before closet installation and announced he couldn't finish the prep work because he is very busy. Suggest I hire a handyman to finish the job. CC office was of no assistance. They simply said they would pay the handyman $100 to complete rip out, patching and painting. Carpenters came next day and installed closers. NOTE: I paid several hundred dollars for ip out and they paid a handyman $100 to do the job that their guy wouldn't finish. What's wrong withy this picture?

We contracted with them to install custom closets in the master bedroom, build a pantry in our kitchen, install custom closets in our son's room and install shelving in our linen closet, laundry closet and entry closet. They came over and met with us - looked at our space and spent time to understand our needs. They suggested various options to assist in maxmizing space and pointing things out we may not of thought of that would provide added convenience. They worked with us to keep the cost low but provide the best usability. They submitted plans for us to review and adjust and were always punctual. We are very happy with the look and durability of the closets. I would use them again and recommend them. Our design consultant was Stacy and she was great and very responsive.

There was a consultation during which I provided my wants/needs list. Very pleasant and patient as I kept thinking of new things or constraints to add. I was sent the plans in the form of drawings. The Brenda MacLeish, followed up with a call and a note at the end of the work. Work took 2 half days: Day One: rip and paint took down all fixtures and painted; plastering where needed Day Two was the installation which looks great and now I have a specific place for each thing that's in my closet.
Description of Work: Complete renovation of a small walk-in closet. The results were superb. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them or use their services again. You can see my power point slide show in their praise on Facebook. I'm not on Facebook but they asked if they could use it on their Facebook page.

The guys got to my apartment on time, and didnt waste time trying to figure out what to do. The first crew who came and tore down the closet, and painted came in and did what they had to do. I really appreciate when people are punctual and very polite. I forgot that I needed to tip them; but didnt have cash in my house. They didnt think twice about, it. They told me not to worry about it. That to me was very considerate. The second crew that came in and install the closet, was equally as nice and professional. It took them no longer than 2 hours to complete the job. Again, my experience was really positive.
Description of Work: I had my master bedroom walk in closet totally redone. They broke down my closet and rebuild it again. Stipped and repainted the closet as well. It is beautiful. The professionalism of the crew on both days made my experience extremely pleasant. Also, the designer who helped me create the closet was professional and proficient in her work. I would definitely recommend California Closets to anyone who is willing to redo their home.

.Dont think that you can multi task while a project of this nature is being done in your home.. I made the mistake of allowing the installer to work independently while i worked on my office projects in another room. Had i observed while the work was being done, i would have stopped work and terminated the project,, at least until the proper fix was accomplished.
Description of Work: Initial service was poor,- the installer drilled straight through the closet walls creating two holes in one room and then he cracked the exisiting paint and plaster in the walls in other closet. All without advising me,- i didnt notice it until after he had completed the project. He non chalantly stated that he would let his supervisor know and that someone would call me, but no onw did. When i called to complain i was told that i had "super thin walls" . This statement was inaccurate and i was offended and interpreted the statement as an attempt to s the blame, as i have had flat screen TVs, paintings, wall mirrors. wood cabinets and other items installed on the walls throughout my apartment with no problem. After i finally got through to the right people, the company sent a team to repair the holes that were placed in the walls. At first i thought the price was good, the materials they use are stellar,- thus far i can say. However, for the headache i went through for the fix, i think now that i overpaid on the cost of the labor.

I am very happy with the closets and with the professionalism and responsiveness of the team. I first went to California Closets well over a year ago to gauge the the cost and the process for organizing my 3 closets. I was immediately seen by a designer who took my rough measurements and provided ballpark estimates with 3-D images. I wasn't ready to begin a serious discussion until this past July 2010. This time I met with a designer with my architect's plans in hand. She interviewed me extensively and took me around the showroom to determine the correct heights for my long and short hang options. She prepared an estimate on the spot with the caveat that an in-home visit to confirm the measurements would be required. My renovation took longer than expected and when I returned in October to book an in-home visit, I learned that the designer no longer worked there and the plans had not been filed in their system. They did not have to recreate the wheel however, because the designer had emailed the schematics to me. I booked an in-home visit and an installation date at the same time with the required down-payment. A lovely designer met me at my home, confirmed the measurements, made the necessary adjustments and kept the pricing stable. She even went the extra mile for me when I was concerned my closets wouldn't be prepped for the installation date previously set. She worked it out at no additional cost or inconvenience to me. The installer arrived early on the installation date. He was organized, neat, respectful and worked well around my renovation crew. He was finished in approximately 2 hours. Throughout the process I was impressed with their flexibility, professional demeanor and integrity. Over the course of my experience, all three estimates I received were close, actually almost the same cost for each. I'm not sure what happened with the designer I met with in July, but I was pleased that their focus was on meeting my needs and not disparaging their ex-employee. The price is high, but it is competitive.
Description of Work: California Closets designed and installed 3 closet systems in my co-op apartment. This included: (1) a master bedroom small walk-in closet with long and short hang poles, storage shelves, drawers, a hamper and a valet rod; (2) a very narrow and tall linen closet with shelves and a vertical space for vacuum, broom, etc, and (3) a wide reach-in coat closet with long hang poles and storage shelves.

I went to California Closets the owner of a large walk in closet that was a disaster and only had single hanging bar along 3 of 4 walls. Designer walked through my needs, came to my house and assessed the situation, taking measurements, designed a closet which we then tweaked together to meet my needs. I took responsibility for cleaning out the existing closet, removing all existing shelving, repairing walls and painting. Installer came soon after and quickly and accurately installed a beautiful closet/shelving system. A year later and we're still thrilled with the results.

I have used California Closets many times before - and they do NOT disappoint! Liz Sleeman (the designer that I used for all of my work) was wonderful once again - everything from the mulitple options of a "closed closet" treatment, to an "open closet" hanging area - to the visual renderings sent by e-mail, and even down to the electronic signature to complete the contract - everything is efficient, clean, well presented, and worth the extra money you pay for a California Closet!

They did the work and we are planning for them to come back to make a few changes. When they put in the closet doors they didn't have any handles. So someone had to come back out to put handles on it. Then, we had a hamper put it and the metal frame tends to come un-done. There is also another set of doors that needs to be reversed. Initially, one person did the whole job and did it in 4 hours - which to me is remarkable. Despite having a few issues, I would use them again in the future if needed.

Everyone showed up on time, California Closets took care of all the required building paperwork, everyone was neat and professional. Nothing was left to chance, these are people who know what they are doing! Clean up was great. I had used California Closets 8 years ago in a prior home. Six years after install they came back free of charge when one of my rods broke to repair it. That is why they initially got my business, after this install I can recommend them without reservation.
Description of Work: Redid four closets. Crew came in the first day, tore everything out, fixed and painted the walls. Next day one man installed the closets from the design specs. Not only was the design great, the workmanship was great. Cara, my designer did a good job configuring the space to get the most storage. She also was correct in upgrading to the better color laminate.

Well, to be honest the price seemed to a little high. I found another company that was willing to do the same work for $1,000 less than California. They were very nice and professional though. I have seen their work and they do a great job, but it was just as good as the other company. I chose another company because of the price being cheaper.

SHE CAME TO MY HOUSE MEASURED ME, ASSESSED MY CLOTHING AND SHOES AND THEN CUSTOM DESIGNED A CLOSET FOR ME. THE CLOSET IS AMAZING AND I ALWAYS TELL PEOPLE IT WAS THE BEST $2200 I EVER SPENT. ALSO, SOON AFTER THEY INSTALLED THE CLOSET ONE OF THE JEWELRY DRAWERS BROKE AND I CALLED THEM TO TELL THEM WITHIN 24 HOURS. THEY HAD THE JEWELRY DRAWER REPLACED. CAN'T BEAT THAT SERVICE. A++++
