Description of Work: They completely packed up all of my stuff and moved it to a second floor apartment on a busy street. Everything was placed where I asked them to place it and not one thing was broken in the move. The moving crew was polite, curtious, and respectful of me and all of my belongings. An absolute pleasure!

Description of Work: The owner is disgusting. He lied to me about how much it would cost to move from my one bedroom apartment. He initially told me $200 for 2 men to move locally in NJ for two hours, I was to only pay $400 and they would only drop it off at the doorstep. I was ok with this but when they got to my new place, they were aggressive with my furniture and boxes dropping them and carelessly and hastily leaving my boxes all over the front of my new apt. They finished and I was told I had to pay $1200 to cover the cost of packing (which they did not do, I did) or my things would be kept in storage in NY until I paid the balance AND the storage fees incurred. The owner was nasty and arrogant. I will never use these people again! Stay away from Slattery Moving and Storage!!!

Description of Work: Slattery arrived relatively on time and began moving my furniture, a small 2 bedroom apt. When I originally called them they told me that since the trip would be only about 275 miles and we were not moving all the furniture they would use a small truck. They did not have to pack anything as I had already taken care of that. They used a large tractor trailer and combined my move with one that was going to Florida. As I watched I noticed that the furniture was not handled gently. I was starting to have regrets when they sat a large piece on the ground and a short time later it fell over. They insisted that it was not damaged but I did notice minor damage. At this point I started checking on them but since 4 movers were moving furniture I could not be everywhere at the same time. They finished and left telling me everything was ok. I went back into the apartment to close up and noticed that when they moved the china cabinet that the smashed the ceiling fan in the dining room. A week later the furniture was delivered to my new home. I made it easy on them and told them to just place the furniture in the proper rooms and leave all the boxes in the garage and I would take care of them. 30 minutes into the move they scratches my hardwood floor trying to force the bedding up the stairs. Several pieces of furniture (including the one dropped) had visible marks and scratches, a glass topped coffee table had the glass smashed and I am still touching up smudges and chips in the paint of my new house. The damage to the flooring cost me $394 and the cost to replace the glass in the coffee table would have been $175 but I had one done (not an exact match) by a glass guy for a lot less. The touch up painting I did myself. Slattery sent me a check for less than half that amount. As We continue to settle in we are still finding new marks and damage to the furniture. Moving to a new home is great, sorry I cannot say the same for the moving company. I definitely do not recommend this moving company to anyone. Be safe consider someone else.

+ -1 morePromised everything from having 4 men to do the packing - ony three showed up and since the rate was by the hour it took more time - one hour of travel time was to be charged never mentioned before the actual bill. The date of the move was changed. Was told that the items would be packed on one truck and that was the truck to do the delivering - what actually happened was one truck picked up our goods, then it was loaded on van. Was told an additional fee would be charged for using a credit card 3 % for Mastercard or Visa and 4 % for American Express. When the bill was paid, the actual amount charged was 4% for Mastercard or Visa and 6% for American Express. A second local delivery was made was told the charge would be $ 75- 80 - actual change $ 195.00 Grossly underestimated the weight of the move by 43% after telling mentioning numerous times about his 22 years of experience. He prepared an inventory list - when questioned about it since it contained items that we did have - he became enraged and was told that it was for his use to calculate cubic feet. Several items was broken - a cement outdoor planter!!! - top of a card table ripped, a floor lamp dented and bent, large mirrored double door wardrobe closet was broken Items never delivered - 8 foot ladder and a painters scaffold. When items were delivered the driver minimized the damage. When contacted the company, was talked down to by the owner with a offer for a settlement that would provide " a few nice dinners for us". After trying to speak to him we were told that " I am getting upset and would call back on Monday" and then he hung up. Never heard from him on Monday. Called the office on Tuesday, was told he was not in yet and would be given my message to return my call. Never returned my call!!

Their estimate was slightly higher than other companies but they were a great, reliable company to work with. Would highly recommend.

+ -1 moreWe got the quote from these guys after a visit from a really nice ex-surfer Australian guy, and even though they had very little time to act they were very flexible and managed to fit into our schedule even though the moving date was about two weeks away. They showed up on time on the packing day and whipped though the packing, they would not let us lift a finger to help. The next day was moving day and no complaints at all, we even made a friend from the whole experience. They quoted higher than the actual cost adding in some wiggle room, but came in well within the time quoted. They refunded us a $900 check at the end of it all. The total came to around $4500 which was worth every penny.
Description of Work: These guys were great. We got cheaper quotes from other companies but we went with the more expensive Slattery for the reason that the company employs full time team members, not part time hired help. This made all the difference to us, they were prompt, polite, charming, and professional. The easiest whole house move we have ever done.
