Our job was a nightmare, I am reluctant to deal with ANY contractors as a result of my dealings with primarily CV plumbing. Please think twice before you deal with this company.................

Description of Work: we have used this service since 2006/7 for various plumbing problems/fixes [annual a/c and heating check-ups; installation of new faucets in bathroom, kitchen and laundry rooms; new furnace, new hot water heater and removal of old water softener and a new toilet unit].

Description of Work: I called Chris because my furnace wasn't turning on. He did show up an hour later which I appreciated. But, after 30 minutes of work, he charged me $425 which he explained was to clean the burners and to replace a coupling. Considering that I paid less than $200 the year before with a different company which wasn't available this year, I felt ripped off. It was the second time I used CV Plumbing. The first time was for a leak in the water line. While Chris did save me money by not replacing a pipe, he charged me $150 to reseal a joint with plumber's tape. In both cases, I was grateful to have the problem resolved but I also felt he price-gouged the customer. Now, I have a serious leak in the wall, and I absolutely won't call him for fear that the price for the repair will sink us.

Description of Work: CV Plumbing and Heating was called in for and air conditioner not working properly and for a dripping shower. When Mr Christopher Valvo the owner arrived I explained that the air conditioner overnight had started working properly but showed him a video recording so he could understand the problem. Before we were even totally in the laundry room he exclaim I needed a whole new system which he would give me a price for. I explained I had just put on a new roof and new windows and as much as I realize I have an older system I was really just looking for bandaids to keep everything working. He didn't physically touch anything but then proceeded around the air conditioner to our water heater and told me how I needed a new water heater because it was from 1998. We hadn't even lived in the house until 2000 and we were the ones who put in the water heater which has never given us a problem and was working fine. I then got a lecture that it was his duty to tell me everything that he felt needed replacing or repaired so in months down the road if I had problem I couldn't blame him for not telling me about a future risk. I questioned him on the water heater if I never called you in for a repair how could I expect him to be responsible. He did go outside and put 2 1/2 pounds of freon in the air conditioner. He then came in to address the leaking shower which I was looking for a washer to be replaced to stop the dripping shower head. He then gave me another lecture on how replacing the washer wouldn't last too long because of the hard water in Rockland County again I expalined I understood since I had it replace before but I was looking for again a bandaid. Instead of replacing the washer he gave me a price of $625 for a whole new nozzle apparatus which would entail cutting through tile and replacing the whole structure. By the time he left I had a bill for a new airconditioner/furnace for $8900 but if I purchased the hot water heater he would knock it down to $8200 and only charge me $1045 for the heater which again is working fine and has never given us a problem. He then charged $84 for the freon and $165 for a service call. I questioned why he wasn't fixing anything for the price of the service call and he tried to appease me and told me to talk to my husband who he was sure would agree to replacing everything instead of throwing away good money. If my husband decided not to listen to his advice it would be another $165 service call to replace the washers.I was so furious that he was trying to belittle me I paid him and asked him to leave. After I calmed down I called his office and explained how I never made an appointmnet with a SALESMAN to try to replace everything in my home I asked for a PLUMBER to replace a washer. The girl was very polite and told me she would discuss with her boss at the end of the day and was sure we could get the shower issue resolved. I called 4 times and my husband called twice NO ONE had the courtesy to return our phone call. I did however call give them the courtesy to let them know I was writing this review and agian no reponse. I would never recommend their services and I actually tell everyone I can about my horrible experience.

Description of Work: They came to our home this past February on a Sunday. It was six degrees and our heater went. They charged us $175 to come on a Sunday for the service call. Then we paid an additional $145 for them to replace the thermostat, which by the way, they had just replaced in October.
