+ -1 moreWORST moving experience!! My girlfriend and I hired them for a long-distance move from PA to NY. The salesperson promised us that the shell will be delivered to our apartment and be unloaded from there, however, after they already charged us the second payment, they said they would have to do a “loose unload” where they unload the shell (while cutting open our lock that we put on the shell) and load it into a truck and then unload the truck again at our apartment. We hired Zippyshell to decrease the amount of unloads we do so our belongings do not break. Zippyshell gave us multiple excuses as to why they had to do the “loose unload” (which was not in the contract we signed) but they did not care. Also, we woke up at 7am to go to the warehouse in LI to unlock the shell for the movers. If that wasn’t frustrating enough, they took over a week to get us our COI correctly and delivered it on the morning of the move. And as a warning, the customer service department is absolutely useless and will tell you that they put an “urgent” request and still take time to get back to you. The company has been an absolute nightmare while moving and highly recommended that people look elsewhere for long-distance movers.

+ -1 moreIt went fantastic. Look no further than this company. They accommodated all of my requests. I rented two shells for my move. They were dropped off clean and in good shape. I filled them, they stored them and shipped them to my new address. Ron was a pleasure to deal with.

+ -1 moreThey were great. They did everything that they said they were going to do. It was a good experience. There were no hiccups or anything like that. They came when they said they were going to come. They charged how much they said they were going to charge. When I wanted them to pick it up, they came right away. It was kind of seamless.
Description of Work: They dropped off a portable storage device. We had the home renovation done and when the renovation was complete, then we called them back and they took their pod. It was a storage container.

+ 0 moreIt was absolutely phenomenal and I would recommend 100 times over. They delivered when they are say they were going to and they pick up the next day I called. Everything was fine. I had the maximize size unit and it was clean. The way he set it up on the grass he did not leave any damage. They did a good job.

Description of Work: Zippy Shell dropped off a brand new self storage unit on the agreed upon date. Friendly, professional, courteous. No problems at all with the unit. We had work done at the house and need quite a bit of furniture stored. The unit fit everything we needed to fit. The pickup was also flawless. We would definitely use them again. Great price, great people.

+ -1 moreIt went pretty good. The price was better than the competitors. We had it for 3-4 months. Anytime I had a problem, I was able to get a hold of the guy who runs the site. He's a good guy. Good customer service. The Zippy Shell is on wheels so I could move it around. I had a license to park it on the street. You could hook power up to it.

+ 0 moreI bought a big deal for this service. I researched a number of companies and Zippy Shell was one of them. I ended up no going with them, not because the local guy was not good or anything, but we decided to hire a mover and put our furniture in storage. We were afraid we would not be a able to fit everything in the pod that Zippy Shell offered.
Description of Work: I packed my furniture into their pod-like thing. They either take it away or put it in my driveway while I am doing renovation or something.

Description of Work: Zippy Shell delivered a self-pack storage unit. We packed it and had a verbal agreement that it would be picked up from the property the next day (though technically the contract did provide for a 3-day window). Well, Zippy Shell LI appears to be a one-man show. The unit was not picked up the next day, as agreed. In our case, this was a problem since we'd just sold the house and no longer had the right to leave a storage unit on the property. Called Zippy Shell and the owner/operator, Ron said "oh yeah. sorry I had a dental emergency" But when I asked if there was any other staff that could pick up the unit as scheduled, and explained the situation it put us in - being in breach of the terms of the house sale - he got really unpleasant in his tone of voice and basically just said "no, there's only me. And that's just too bad." |He did pick it up early the next morning. The unit was then in storage with Zippy Shell for several months. No problem there. Delivered to new residence in December. We unloaded. Again, had a verbal agreement that the shell would be picked up the next day but instead it was 2 days later. | |So main thing is - don't expect great customer care. And be aware - pick up of the unit really may happen anywhere in a three day window. No guarantees. One thing though - price was very, very reasonable.
