Awful service. Awful company. Customer service has no connection to actual company. They just field calls and keep irate callers from asking for their money back. Broken promise after broken promise. Half-effort jobs. A “technician” came to my property for a mosquito spray. He never came into my backyard. I would have never known had I not had cameras set up in the back. I called to complain, and the company had the nerve to blame it on a computer issue, stating that the square footage on my property was wrong. So… the guy came and sprayed my front landscaping and left. Three weeks and a dozen calls later, my lawn has still not been serviced. AVOID this company. There are better options. If you have already paid, ask for your refund now to save the headache. I promise you, you’re asking for one by hiring this incompetent excuse for a landscaping company.

Once you get past the awful customer service department they offer a very good product. Our lawn was an embarrassment three years ago with weeds and dead spots. After a couple of years of treatment we have a beautiful lawn. Their prices are reasonable and you can negotiate. We got a free lime treatment this year. They do stand behind their work. They fixed one area of lawn that did not react properly to their treatment at their cost and it now looks beautiful. The technicians that come out to do the work are very nice and they use Scotts products of course, which are very good.

They are very reliable, I never have any problem with them and my grass always looks good.

It went excellent. They are the best company you could ask for, knowledgeable, friendly, a good quality service, and prompt. They always call when they say they will and their workers are so good especially George I wold highly recommend them.

They did the spraying which is I don’t know but the man is very good. They start at spring and then they end just before the winter time has come and they put a fertilizer before the winter fertilizer down. They gave me discount. When the man was still here, he explained everything to me and he gave me papers as to what he did.

He sends English speaking guys and sometimes the owner comes himself. He is very friendly. I've talked to him multiple times. He is a local guy. It's cool, easy and laid back. They actually always come. We leave a check under the door mat. It is a piece of cake. He does an amazing job. It is a lot of work for not much money. We have half an acre so it is pretty cheap. They undercut everybody; others wanted $35 to $40. We've only used them this summer so it's been about 4 months.

I dropped because I had really poor service. They didn’t explain everything thoroughly. They actually looked on Goople Maps to see the size of my lawn. They didn’t offer me things that I actually wanted. I had them come and treat my lawn but I had more weeds on my lawn that I picked myself than what I had before they started.

Very disappointing experience with Scotts Lawn Service. I had booked a fall lawn aeration and seeding via their website. While costing around $200 seemed pricey, it seemed like it would be easier than trying to do it all myself. After purchasing the service and paying in full right away I awaited their call to let me know when they would be coming by to complete the service. After I got the initial invoice, I didnt hear anything from them over the next couple of days. I tried to set up a profile on their website but kept getting an error message, so I called them to see if I could find out when they were going to come to my house. The person I spoke to on the phone said that the order had not been processed for some reason but that he would push it through then. I asked when they would be coming by the house and he said probably in the next week or so. At this point I was under the assumption that someone would be calling me back to let me know when they would be coming by and that is where I was wrong. I was out of town the following weekend and when I got home Sunday night I discovered that they had come by to aerate and seed the lawn while I was gone on Thursday afternoon. No heads up, no nothing. Since the grass seed had already sat unwatered for 4 days at that point, by the time I was able to water it on Monday afternoon, it was too late and the seed never took. The actual aeration and seeding they did was fine, but by not telling me when they were coming so I could make sure to water it, the seeding portion of it was a total waste of money.

Worst Lawn Service in NY- Sales Reps provide deceptive and inaccurate information regarding services, prices and type of seed used. Customer Service team is unprofessional, rude and extremely unhelpful or able to assist. Since using Scotts Lawn Service, our lawn has more weeds than ever before and what little grass did grow in, came in very patchy/spotty. This is a franchise and I am shocked that the corporation allows them to maintain their license continue to use the Scott's name. Unfortunately, my neighbor had a very similar experience- BEWARE!

Just a money sucking business and not local

I had been using them for three or four years and they really are not very professional like they were in the first year. I put a deck on the back and I told them twice to blow off the deck after they come out and twice they forgot. I don't even really blame the workers because I think they have eight minutes per house to do the job. I would probably have to blame the owners for having them over-worked and they can't get jobs done the right way. I will be changing over to someone else this year. I also think the price is a little high for the amount of property I have.

I spent $43 on that service. It is a monthly service and they are a general service provider. I wouldn’t call them local and it is a standard program they do nationwide. Their prices are reasonable.

I received a postcard in the mail advertising Scotts LawnService. I don't remember if I returned the card or replied on the web, but I was intrigued by the free soil analysis they were offering. Anyway, I did get a phone call back from Scotts rather quickly after responding. There were set prices on the post card that came in the mail, but I found them to be useless because the salesman at the other end of my phone was making up prices as he went. I said I wanted the soil analysis before any work was done or agreement was made, but he talked me out of it, stating that they do a soil analysis every time they come. I should have just hung up the phone then, but I got suckered into agreeing to their service - a custom version. A contract came in the mail, which I signed and returned. Their first and second services were done, and for both some fertilizer and allegedly some weed killer were applied, but the only results I saw were that the weeds were getting fertilized and growing really well. In fact, after they started servicing my lawn, it never looked worse. I was totally disgusted with their service and I sent them an email instructing them to cancel my account, which they did. Then a week or so later I got a phone call from them, begging me to give them a second chance. I agreed to, but told them that I wanted the weeds taken care of before they did any billable service. About ten days later, after hearing nothing from Scotts, I sent another email restating that I wanted the weeds taken care of before they did any billable work. At this point I was really ready to cancel again, as my lawn was so full of weeds it was embarrassing. Two days after I sent that email, I get home and find a bill in my mailbox. It was for applying weed killer and a lime application, which I never ordered. Now get this - two days later they show up again, but this time my family was home. My son said they guy was there no longer than two minutes, and he left a bill for applying grub protection (which they talked me in to signing up for over the phone a while ago) and more fertilizer. There is no way he could have done all this work in two minutes or less. My wife called the main office and was told that we authorized the treatments and it was too bad. They said if we don't see results they would come back and redo it. How do you see results for grub protection? Any why are they fertilizing in the middle of the summer? I put my account on hold so they wouldn’t rush over again and perform more services while I was disputing their last service. My wife called the main office, but you always get the same story from them: if you don’t see results, they’ll redo the service. Sure, they’ll come back and spend another two minutes on my lawn when they’re in the neighborhood. The bill for these two back-to-back services was $148.00. After a long argument with the main office, Denise from Scotts agreed to apply a credit of $45.00 to my account. Well over a week went by since they said they would apply the credit, and as expected it isn’t applied. I just paid the balance of my bill, less the $45, and canceled my account. In my opinion, all Scotts is interested in is billing. No effort or care is given in their service. I will never do business with them again. They are the sleaziest company I’ve ever dealt with.

I chose to discontinue due to poor service. I had used them regularly for 5-6 years. I had ongoing issues with my lawn that they were never able to successfully address (IE crab grass, weeds, etc). The prices were also quite high.

I never really had a great lawn. They always had a different excuse for why things weren't working out. I never had the lawn I thought I should have for all the work they were doing. They charged me each time they came and for each individual service. Finally, I discontinued the service and went to someone else who is making my lawn look much better now.

I HAD A GOOD LAWN AND I DECIDED ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO TO HAVE A LAWN SERVICE DO MY LAWN SO THAT I COULD EVEN HAVE A BETTER LAWN. I DECIDED ON SCOTT'S LAWN SERVICE BECAUSE I FIGURED THAT THEY WERE WELL TRAINED AND AFTER A YEAR I WOULD EVEN HAVE A BETTER LAWN. WELL I WAS WRONG. IT DID NOT TAKE LONG BEFORE MY LAWN WENT DOWN HILL. EACH YEAR WAS THE SAME, I WOULD BE TOLD THAT NEXT YEAR MY LAWN WOULD BE MUCH BETTER. THIS WENT ON FOR 4 YEARS. TOTAL PAID OVER 4 YEARS ABOUT $4,000. I WOULD SEND FAXES TO THE LAWN SERVICE WITH MY PROBLEMS AND SOMETIMES THEY WOULD CALL. MY FAX THAT WAS SENT SEVERAL DAYS AGO WAS NEVER ANSWERED. I SENT A FAX TO THE CEO OF SCOTT'S MR. JIM HAGEDORN IN OHIO OUTLINING ALL MY PROBLEMS. I CALLED TODAY AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY RECEIVED MY FAX AND I WOULD BE CONTACTED NEXT WEEK. IN THE MEANTIME SCOTT'S CAME TO MY HOUSE FOR AERATION AND PUT SEED DOWN. A TOTAL OF 10 MINUTES WAS SPENT HERE. YOU CANNOT DO THIS JOB IN THIS SHORT TIME. THIS IS NOT THE TIME OF THE YEAR TO PUT DOWN SEED. IT WAS DONE IN THE PAST AND NEVER WORKED OUT. NOW THEY TELL ME I HAVE BENT GRASS. WELL THEY PUT DOWN THIS SEED OVER THE LAST 4 YEARS. I PAID FOR IT. IN THE LAST WEEK I GOT BILLS FOR $140 FROM SCOTTS. I HAVE DIGITAL PICTURES OF MY LAWN FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS. SORRY THIS IS SO LONG. DON'T USE THEM. IRWIN IRWINHAM@VERIZON.NET

We have used this company for a few years and in the beginning, they complied with our request to call us a day ahead of a treatment. Last year and this year, they ignored that request and just showed up. We were having the fertilizer go straight into the grass catcher when the landscaper mowed our lawn the next day.

They do a good job and there are never any problems with them. I am always pleased with the service and I would recommended them to other people any time. They are professional and the prices are always great. They have a courteous and professional service.

The Scott's satisfaction guarantee says that you must be fully satisfied with every treatment or they will make things right. I advised Scotts that I was not satisfied on several occasions, stating that I had better results the year before when I did it myself. They made a couple of service calls, but the lawn continued to have weeds, brown spots, and bare areas. I had been advised to select the Complete Care program which includes core aeration. When it was time to do the aeration, I was told that they were unable to use the equipment on my property. I then asked to be billed on the less costly Custom Care program for the services provided. When speaking to the rep, I was made to feel that I was at fault. When I repeated my dissatisfaction with the results, I was told that it sometimes takes several years. I will not renew the service, knowing that Scotts results are not as good as what I can do.

There was no work performed. After having the Rep come and give an estimate we called to have them begin the work. We called for an entire two weeks leaving messages constantly, and even calling directly to the headquarters 800 number for Scott's and we received no call back. Finally after two additional weeks we received phone calls and I told them there is no way I would consider hiring a company that treated customers ready to hire in this fashion. This franchise owner should be aware of the behavior of the reps that he employs. Additionally, we hired the competition and no longer use Scott's products which we were using for over 30 years. This will go nowhere I am sure, but it feels good to have an opportunity to vent....absolutely disappointed in Scott's.

THEY ARE A VERY FINE COMPANY. I COULD NOT EVEN TELL THEY CAME OUT AND FERTILIZED THE LAWN BECAUSE THEY CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES. THEY WERE VERY FAST.

I HAVE ONLY USED THIS COMPANY TWICE. THEY HAVE DONE A GOOD JOB SO FAR. THEY COME WHEN THEY ARE SCHEDULED TO COME. I HAVE NOT YET SEEN A DIFFERENCE IN MY LAWN.

I WAS PLEASED, BECAUSE THE RESULTS OF THE FERTILIZATION WERE GOOD. THE MAN WHO CAME TO FERTILIZE MY LAWN SEEMED TO BE KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT WHAT HE WAS DOING.

SCOTT'S LAWN SERVICE ALWAYS COMES WHEN WE NEED THEM. THEY WORK PUNCTUALLY, I AM HAPPY WITH THEIR WORK. THE LAWN IS ALWAYS GREEN AND LOOKS NICE. WE HAVE BEEN WITH THEM FOR FIVE YEARS.

SCOTT'S IS VERY GOOD AND MY YARD LOOKS BETTER THAN EVER. I LIKE BEING ABLE TO PAY IN ADVANCE FOR THEIR SERVICE. THEY ARE GOOD ABOUT CALLING TO LET ME KNOW WHEN TO EXPECT THEM. THEY ALWAYS COME AS THEY HAVE SAID THEY WOULD.
