GASCO HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING

This company has overcharged us 3x's already. Shame on us because moving from the city and into our first home, we were not aware of how much heating and plumbing labor and parts actually cost. This gentleman Mike took advantage of us by charging $250.00 just for ringing the doorbell (regular weekday and not an emergency call), that did not include parts or labor. Our most recent visit from Mike went as follows: $250 for coming to our house and $345.00 for 2 parts. Again, not knowing how much things cost I willingly wrote him a check. My family back home are all contractors and when telling them my heat issues and the money we had recently spent, they told me I was scammed. I sent them the receipt of the parts we were charged for and told me to go look on Home Depot for the 2 parts prices. I was shocked beyond disbelief to see they actually cost a whole lot less than what he charged. Feeling scammed, I called the guy out on it and informed him of my findings. Being put on the spot, he said he would contact his supplier and obtain proof the 2 parts were in fact $345. I asked the owner to please not cash my check until this matter was cleared up and to obtain written proof of his cost for both parts from his supplier. He willingly agreed and said he would get back to me. I informed him I found both parts on Home Depot for a lot cheaper. He stated he may have made a mistake and overcharged me accidentally. Fast forward one month and I have yet to hear back from him with his proof, but he was nice enough to cash my check. I frantically called him and questioned WHY he went ahead and cashed my check, his response... it was an accident. If it was so much an accident he should have called as soon as he did it. A liar and a scam artist! I have a new plumber/heating guy who charges $75.00 just for showing up along with a yearly contract for $150.00. After showing my new plumber the previous parts Mike has changed along with what he charged us for doing it, he was in disbelief that someone can actually bill people the way he did and still go home and sleep at night. BEWARE this company is a scam. DO NOT USE!

They are very good. They show up on time and do their work quickly. I would highly recommend them.

Once he left, I called my wife to get the name & model number of the new thermostat and a quick Google search revealed no less than ten websites selling the identical unit, in a range of $40 to $50. While I understand the need for a contractors mark-up, this was absurd. I immediately called his cell phone and when I argued this issue, he first said that I should buy the thermostat online and he would come by and install mine and take back his. Not feeling comfortable with the possibility of another $175 labor charge to remove 4 screws and put back the same 4 screws for the new install, I called back and this time he told me he called his office and the best he could offer was to drop the price of my $250 thermostat to $100. My only offer of praise for this contractor is that we did not get into a argument as such, but when I objected to all the reasons he gave for a $250 thermostat, he agreed to stop by and pick up a new check for the adjusted amount.
