I met with him in October 2013 and we went over the job. He said he could match the stain of the floor after replacing some of the bad wood and even took a piece of the wood to sample. On Nov. 18, 2013 they began the work. They were late on the first day of work but I wrote it off based on them getting used to the commute. They removed the damaged wood and left the floor to dry for 2 weeks which it seemed to need. They then asked for an advancement of $1,000. All along he was saying that the job would cost more but they would keep it at the $4,500 agreed price. After we paid the advancement, I noticed there were times that nothing was done and they would not show up at all. I would ask him when they were planning to continue, etc. and I noticed his responses became short and less informed. Finally, I told them they had to be done as we had guests coming for the holidays. Again, they were late and on the 2nd to last day of job, he emailed me to tell me that there was a problem at the job site. They would not be able to match the stain after all and would actually have to do a different color. I was livid that he was only telling us this now after months of waiting. I emailed him telling him that they had to stop the job as of now and asked if he was available to correct this mistake after holidays. I also asked him to leave our key for our guests. I was afraid of losing the money we already invested in him. Upon returning home that night, I was devastated. There was dust everywhere in our home. Construction dust, furniture everywhere and a stain on the floor that looked like a child did it. I realized this had to end. There was no way I could trust this company again with the complete lack of disrespect they showed me and my family with the way they left our home. I emailed him the next day reminding him to return our key and that I would speak to him later. He didn't return our key until late afternoon and said he had to retrieve a paint can out of our closet that he left. I later called him from another number (not cell). He answered right away and I then proceeded to let him go. I told him we were going with someone else for the stain. I told him the wood installment was nice; however, I told him the stain was very unprofessional. I also mentioned my disgust at the disarray and dust level that our house was left in. He said that if I wouldn't have asked for my key back he would have had time to get the cleaners in. Once I broached the subject about a refund, he kept saying he should have been charging more for the work he did, etc. I asked him to revise his quote with only the work and supplies used and done. I also mentioned I would not be paying him anything more but expected at least $1,000 back. I asked him that we be fair to one another and he agreed. He said he would have the revised estimate for me Mon. and email it. It is now Fri. (a week later) and I have not heard a word from him.
Description of Work: The job was to repair the floors because there was a leak and the floors started to buckle and then restain the wood. A lot of the floor had to pulled up to see where the leak was. He did all the construction.

The Information sent in is just not true at all. I am surprised this client sent in this complaint after we talked and due to the holidays and family coming in town and not having time to finish. She emailed me and told me to finish the job the first week of January. The truth to this case is. I first started this project because it was water damage on her floors from a plumbing leak. I priced the job and I was told we could not start the project till the building management approved my paper work. Once paper work was approve, The client then told me we had to wait till she talks to her insurance company to pay for the damage. That was the first part of the hold on in time frame on her project and not my company taking lone to do the work. Next the client calls me and tells me that the insurance company is not going to pay for the project and she has to come out of her own pocket and can I drop the price to help her out. I agreed to drop the price and was willing to work with her. I told her from day one when doing a patch job, you will not get a 100% color match with stain unless you refinish the whole area. She told me she only wanted to do the patch. Once I started to pull up the floor, I noticed so much standing water under the floors and into the plywood. I told her at that point, we had to remove more area of the floors and allow it to dry out over a week before installing new wood so the new wood dont come up after we finish. Now we are getting close to Christmas and it is out of my control of the sub floor still being wet. I am still pushing time trying to get her finish before the holidays come and loosing money because more of the floor is being replaced outside of our contract. I told the client don't worry about additional wood and labor cost, I just want to get you done because I knew she was on a budget and just wanted the floors done right. The install of all the wood after the lost time outside of my control turned out perfect. Client came home and emailed me and told me the job looks very good at this point. Now its time for the stain. I took some colors and started samples colors on her floors to get close to a match before I put the final finish on the floors first. I came really close in the kitchen and all we needed to do is do a little more testing to get it closer. I did not do the whole floor and emailed the client and told her we came close to the match but will need two more days to finish and get it right. You can not rush this process. I told her on the phone that her floors are not ready to be stained, they need to be sanded one more time and we will do color match on site because we took a piece of her wood to our shop for testing and when got back on site, with the lighting different in kitchen, hallway and bedroom, the color was looking three different shades. I then told her due to the time of the day and she coming back home and can not walk on floors. I will come back tomorrow and do the first coat and after the holidays will do the last coat. Its not that we cant not get it right, what she dont understand, you can not rush when doing a match. My company having been doing floors for over 14 years and never had this problem. The client called me and told me she was up set because I wan not finish before Christmas. As a building company that truly value our self in customer services, I understand her frustration but she never stop to think when I first started this project, I lost over two week on things that had nothing to do with us not showing up. When she gave me a deposit and draw, it was due anyway and needed to be paid. It was not a problem is why she paid it out. After reading her complaint, I realize now the client is just trying to save money. After me and the client talked, she told me to drop off her keys because she had family coming in town and needed the keys and she will give them back to me after the holidays in her email that I saved and still have. She also said that she wanted me to finish the first week of January and now sending in a message on my company before the time said in her email. I drooped her keys off the same day as she requested. She then called me the next day and told me she thinks I am a great carpenter but don't know how to stain and wants to use someone to finish. I stress to her that floors needs to be sanded one more time, they are not ready to be stained and its only two days left and to allow me to finish. She started talking about the dusk that I told her I would clean up but she did not allow me back. We have always cleaned up after our self every day after a job so I did not understand why she did not allows me to clean up. She told me she will do it and to just leave the keys. She is now requesting $1000.00 dollars back and she still have a balance with my company for $1250.00 If I gave her back that money after 95% of the work is done. She would have got her job done by me for $2250.00 and it cost me way more then that with additional repairs. To finish her job will cost less then $600.00 dollars and she is trying to save $2,250.00 by saying we did a bad job. The pictures of the stain you see is not our finish product and she knows that. Them are just test colors. This client could have avoided all this buy just allowing my company to finish like she said she would do in her email instead of contacting Angie list knowing I was willing to work with her. As adults and professional, we could have handles this small matter with out the public eye but I guest this is just a way to save money on her end. I am still willing to talk and work this out with this client. My company repatriation is more impotent then a few hundred dollars she thinks she will be saving then having a dependable contractor she can always depend on.

Contractor was supposed to start on Monday, rescheduled for Wednesday, rescheduled for Thursday and finally started on Friday. In the bathroom, grouted and caulked. However, he missed grouting on the window shelf. Overall he was nice and accommodating and did a good job. However, the late notice for rescheduling the work meant I needlessly took an extra day off work (he emailed 5::45 am on Thursday that he would be coming on Friday. He stayed late on Friday to finish the work. The quality of work was good, but he could have communicated the schedule change better. The clean up after the work was done was very good- he left everything very clean.
Description of Work: Removed wood floor in closet, inspection for water damage and install ceramic tile floor, grout and caulk bathroom, replace outlet, install light and other miscellaneous handyman services

It went very well. Mr Dawkins proceeded to dislodge the bed from it's previous wall and transferred it to it's now current wall. While he was working I asked questions and Mr Dawkins maintained a pleasant and respectful demeanor at all times. After Mr Dawkins finished moving the bed, which included patching the holes in the previous wall and cleaning the area, i inspected the bed and found it to be quite secure.
Description of Work: i'm in the process of redoing my bedroom and wanted my murphy bed moved from one wall to another.

Daniel (head of Home Resource), was personally involved in the project from start to finish. He was highly professional and met with me for the original walkthrough and estimate, explained task very thoroughly, and his crew performed the work on schedule. Daniel was extremely knowledgeable about all facets of the work to be done, and performed much of the work himself. The other builders in his crew were also very professional, clearly skilled, and very friendly (our cat liked them too). For me, the best part of the service, and what speaks most to Home Resource's dedication to delivering quality and meeting expectations, was the result of a component that needed some additional work: One of the tasks HRS performed was to cut down our front door and make adjustments to seal underneath against drafts. The door has always either been hard to open/close or had a significant air leak along the bottom (door sweeps added by a previous owner are what made it hard to open; I spent much time troubleshooting and replacing the sweeps myself and eventually called in a professional, HRS). Daniel first added a slide-on door bottom sweep. At the conclusion of the work, Daniel walked through with me to show all work done and I wasn't fully happy with the front door - it was much improved, but still hard to open. It was determined that the interior floor was uneven and the cause of the problem. At this, Daniel put in a tremendous extra effort, coming back on a Saturday and came up with a creative solution to cut down the door and install a threshold, which worked perfectly - no air leak and the door swings freely. All said and done, HRS performed their work perfectly, exceeded my expectations, and were a pleasure to work with. I will be calling them back for all my future remodeling projects.
Description of Work: Sealed and waterproofed concrete balcony, replaced mounting board at gutter, cut down front door and installed threshold, installed new basement exterior door, patched stucco ceilings in garage and electrical room, patched stucco in window well.

My interaction with them was okay. They did what they came to do. I asked for two other estimates that I needed to be done and they never got back to me. My experience with them was okay and it was nice. I enjoyed everything and they were good. The price was reasonable. They just didn’t get back to me with another estimate for the other work that I needed to be done. The work was adequate and reasonable. They charged me by the hour.
Description of Work: I used Home Resource Solutions Inc for cutting down my cabinet, so my fridge could fit underneath. They only took an hour to do the job.

Sorry for the delay in your estimate. Your file is on my desk. However, I will not be able to get the estimate over to you till next week. You can call the office anytime if you have any question. We look at so many jobs in one week, our main focus is on clients we have already contracted and most of the time we are in the field completing work. We have been really tied up lately closing out projects and will get around to out past two weeks estimate as soon as we complete jobs. We do not like to take on more work then we can handle and sometime we have to schedule clients out two to three weeks just to keep our clients happy with our service. We are not a large firm, but do our best to turn around estimates in one week but sometime a little longer. Thanks for your time and call us in the office for any regards to your estimate because we don't keep up with messages on line as much as dealing directly if you called about your concern. Thanks again Daniel

Response from Home Resource Solutions Inc
Hello (Member name removed), I wanted to apologize for any miss understandings or any inconvenience you have experienced with Home Resource Solutions Inc. However, our normal business practice on getting clients back an estimate is by e-mail within one to two weeks depending on research and pricing of materials to give you a true full detail accurate estimate. In your case, you did not provide us with an email address and mention that you did not have one. We did get your call in the office in regards to us sending it to you by fax. You mention the time to send the fax had to be in between a specific time frame that you can pick it up and when the place will be open. Being that we only work during the hours in the office of 9am and five pm, coordinating with an outside source to get it to you is difficult when it cuts into our schedule we already had planed out for the week. Your estimate is complete and we will still love to win your business. Your estimate is scheduled to be dropped in the mail first thing Monday morning because that is the only other option that will work being that you don't have a home fax or email so we can get it to you directly. Once again sorry for this mix up, and looking forward to talking to you further after you receive your estimate by mail. I will also follow up with you in a few days to make sure you received it. Thanks again for the opportunity to give you a detail estimate on your project, looking forward to serving you. Daniel Dawkins
