Residential specialists needed not to sell us at all. We knew what we wanted before they came and we did our homework. They insisted on selling us and that was a little annoying. Their presentation was TOO LONG! I already knew everything they tried to teach me and I kept telling them that. We finally got them into the negotiation stage and worked out a price that we felt was maybe not the lowest we could get around here, but we really wanted the extras that we could only get from them so it was worth it I suppose. (More on that later) They were willing to take our calls at all times and their customer service was good up to a point. We had a few times where we weren't sure the loan from our bank was going to come through and they were helpful with that. However, I do NOT recommend using their financing company because it was a very high interest rate. Thankfully the bank came through and we got our desired rate. The work was completed speedily, however I do have a couple of complaints. 1. One worker had a cold and insisted on coming to our home sick (OUR WHOLE FAMILY GOT IT!) 2. Cigarette butts everywhere 3. Leaving a big mess for us to clean up in the spring (there was debris that showed up when the snow melted as they didn't clean up everyday and then it would snow covering up the mess. They cleaned up a little at the end of the job (and that wasn't very thorough.) 4. Attention to detail was sorely lacking. I would not use them again, however I felt stuck between a rock and a hard place because they offer the best warranty, they are local, they offer the top quality product we wanted, and they were available when we needed them to start.

They quoted $41,000 for siding a two story 2100 sq ft home. We had them come and give an estimate for siding. They were here for 2+ hours and only left when my husband said we had to pick up my son from school. There were two people and the one just creeped me out, I'm so glad I wasn't alone. They were rude and made serval comments on our house and what we could afford. I did not like them checking the place out and it made me feel very uncomfortable. We did not appreciate their high pressure sales. When we said we need to think about it they tried selling us on part of the job and to sign a contract. When we explained we need to think about it they just left in a rush. Not a pleasant experience!

It seems that most people get turned off my the intense sales process that this firm utilizes. I didn't. I expected the pressure before I called them to my house. I had obtained prices from several contractors prior to me contacting Residential Services. The sales pitch was very focused and direct. It did feel like buying a new car at the dealer. My salesman, however, was decent. I can't blame him for aggressively trying to close a sale. The initial meeting was indeed a long one. I did learn quite a bit about siding, however, I didn't permit myself to feel pressured. We went through the process of calling the boss and a special price became available only if I acted immediately. I didn't. I told them what my ballpark price range was and they eventually ( two days later) gave me a figure that I could agree on. They wanted my business. I didn't agree on the first several figures thrown at me. I also didn't feel that I needed to respond to their sense of urgency. Having said all of this, I'm certain that they still made a good profit off of me. I went with Residential because they have been around a long time and I wasn't willing to take the gamble with such a large job with a small contractor. Lots of these smaller firms ask for money up front and then leave you hanging for several weeks with the work unfinished. Also, Residential didn't ask for a dime until the job was completed to my satisfaction. I felt that they did a very good job on my house. The windows were a huge upgrade to what we had on the house previously. The siding itself is a heavier gauge quality and looks great. The crew that handled my house completed the job within six days (weather was an issue). I thought that they knew their stuff. Residential also offers lifetime warranties both on the siding and on the windows. I'm hopeful that I won't ever have to use any, however, its nice to know that if any problem occurs I can call them. They have been around since the 1970's. You just don't know with the smaller firms. My last point that I want to make is that prior to finishing the installation, the crew did something to knock off my A/C compressor. I called and spoke directly with one of the owners. He told me that he would reimburse me for the cost for an A/C service technician to come to my house to check things out. I paid approximately $100 out of pocket and within a week of submitting Residential with the bill they cut me a check. They kept their word. Time will tell how Residential will respond to any future issues that I may have, however, as of right now they really did a nice job.

I was told one person would be coming to give me an estimate- 2 showed up and stayed for 4 hours (6pm-10 pm) during which time they proceeded to do their product demonstration. After the first hour I began to feel as if I was in the middle of the worst sales experience of my life. One person, when I asked about their price as compared to others, looked around my house and stated" you have nice things, you can afford this". I felt like my house was being cased, that the questions about who lived in my house with me were rude, and that the attempts to involve my 15 year old son in the demonstration were manipulative. And that doesn't even cover the games they played "calling the boss" to get a better price- and to top it off, they did not have kind things to say about other customers and went so far as to imply that some of those customers did commercials for them to get a better price. When I declined to be pressured into signing that night, they left in a huff. Never called me again.

I bought a 1950 home that I was in the process of renovating. I expected a representative to come my house, measure windows, and provide an estimate ? end of story. The rep measured the windows, sat down at on my work bench, and preceded into an intense sales push for me to sign a contact that night. The estimate was extremely high, and it would be unwise for anyone to accept their first offer. The rep appeared to get mad when I would not sign the contract, and I had to ask him to leave after the appt was extending into the 2nd hour. After 2 hrs with this guy, and standing while he sat. He insulted me by saying that my house was a terrible place to make a presentation. First off, I didn?t want or ask for a presentation. And second, who would say that? It was a construction zone. He had no clue how to judge or read the situation he was in. I?ve never been push around by a sales person so much. I felt extremely uncomfortable with their approach as it was way too aggressive, and would NEVER recommend them to a single person or anyone living on their own. They will take advantage of you. It was truly a horrible experience. I hope they re-think their rude sales approach. I am confident that if you choose to go with Residential Specialists that you will pay too much for your windows. You're paying for their advertising, and not their customer service, sales, or quality.

Called Residental Specialist's and asked if they had double pane windows the woman on telephone said yes, so we set up an appointment. Company employee arrived on time, however two salesmen embarked upon our door, was not expecting two, this was intimidating. Presentation and measuring of windows took approximately two hours, the salesmen stated the company did not carry double pane windows. Otherwise the presentation went fairly well until we said "as we stated at the beginning of this presentation, this is only a request for an estimate on replacement windows". This is when both salesmen put pressure on us to sign a contract, we stated again that we would not sign anything tonight. We had to become EXTREMELY hard and firm in our response more than once for them to understand that no contract would be signed today. We feel very sorry for anyone who does not do well under pressure, these salesmen will take advantage of you.

The quote was a very hard sell. We told them that we were spending 400$ a month in heating bills and we didn't want to add more siding payments on top of that. He wanted us to put other much more important costs aside to pay for his siding. He was very inconsiderate to our needs. The salesman wasn't very neat and he took 3 hours to give us a presentation on the siding and then insulted us on top of that.

It was an hour and a half sales presentation. This company was not like the other companies in presenting their product. It was very heavy and intense.

A new subcontractor came and finished the new siding on 4/3/07. The shingles on our roof started to pop up in April. I called Residential again and was told to wait a month maybe they would lay down. I called again the end of May to say they are still popping up. After repeated phone calls, they finally sent someone to look at our "new" roof and determined the plywood also needs to be replaced. It is now the middle of July and we are still waiting for the roof to be replaced. Some of the windows needed to be replaced because there were glass chips in the panes. When we returned on 3/1/07 we had nails, coffee cups, food wrappers, and containers littering our driveway. Cigarette butts were all around our house (we don't smoke). Our paved driveway had several oil stains from the subcontractors truck that we now have to get cleaned up. Absolutely nothing was taken off the bill for any messes and oil spills left for us to clean up.

When it came time to paint the house again, we decided to look into siding and were thrilled to find Residential Specialists offered this new siding that is red, the original color of the house, and appears to be the cedar shake shingles our home had always had. They did a great job with the installation and the house looks brand new, without loosing it's original character. The roofing went smoothly as well, except for one garden that was trampled, they wrote us a check for $100 on the spot to cover the cost of replacing the lost flowers and labor involved. The salesman was honest and gave us plenty of choices and the work was accomplished beautifully. I would highly recommend them.

First salesman who was sent to us for an estimate was LESS than satisfactory. Company's reputation, however, made us call for a second go 'round, and we are glad we did. Good service from sales, office, & work crews. Job was done in approx. 4 days, and looks great; like a new house! We would use them again.

The workmen were professional, polite, and quick. The job was completed in about 4 hours. They cleaned up nicely after themselves. I was not as pleased with the customer service I received from the office. There were never any follow-up calls, and no calls to set-up appointments. If I hadn't kept on top of getting the windows measured, tracking the order and setting up an installation appointment, I doubt I ever would have heard from them. In addition, the day the installation was supposed to take place, I called the office when the men did not show up only to be told that the job had to be canceled so they could finish work from the previous day due to rain. The office had a wrong phone # for me and did not know my cell or work #'s, both of which I provided. I was not happy and there was no attempt to really compensate me or appease me. I had to re-schedule for a Saturday and ended up taking a day off for nothing.

THE QUALITY OF THEIR WORK WAS GOOD. THEY WERE HERE ON TIME TO DO THEIR JOB. THEY DID THOROUGH WORK PUTTING THE SIDING ON THE HOUSE. THE SIDING WAS GOOD QUALITY.

THEY CAME AND THEY DID A PRETTY GOOD JOB. THEY WERE ON TIME. THEY WERE COURTEOUS AND PROFESSIONAL. THEY HAVE A SUBCONTRACTOR WORK FOR THEM. ONE OF THEIR SUPERVISORS CAME OUT AND MADE SURE THEY WERE GETTING THE JOB DONE.
