Ed and his staff were punctual. This is a huge issue for me. They were on site the days they said they'd be here. They arrived around 8:30 a.m. and worked through (didn't take lunch) until about 3 PM (that's 7 straight hours of work). The work ethic was incredible. The talent was top notch. These are thoughtful, experienced men. Ed did the design work and was here from time to time. But Pete and Tom did the majority of the work. Pete and Tom are employees, not subcontractors. I can only sing their praise. Bear in mind, that Home Depot was closely involved in any issues I might have had with the products (which were very few and immediately resolved by Home Depot). Any changes that I needed, for instance, replacement of doors on an upper cabinet that I was not happy with, a couple missing shelves in two base cabinets and ordering more matching toe kicks, Home Depot immediately ordered replacements, Thomasville delivered directly to my home, and Ed's staff was quick to change it out or install the items. It was refreshing to experience such a high level of professionalism and talent. I guess I don't always have that experience in dealing with people I hire so, this experience really stood out for me. What even impressed me more, was after the work was done and we had a small leak in the basement under where the kitchen faucet was installed, I called Home Depot, who called Ed, who immediately came over. He checked it all out and did the pipe repair himself, installing new PVC. Apparently during my first kitchen remodel in 1992, the clowns I had hired gerry-rigged the pipes and when one of Ed's men was installing the faucet, it loosened something. Had it been correctly fixed the first time in 1992, there probably wouldn't have been a leak. Ed did about 90 minutes of cleaning up someone else's screw up and didn't change me for this extra work. Ed's install charge was $4,851. They completed the work in 4 weeks, as they said they would, starting the last week of October and finishing before Thanksgiving. The whole cost for remodel was just over $14,000. Ed's part of that was 34 percent. Worth EVERY penny. For readers who don't get the Home Depot connection, I paid Home Depot (store # 1241) for the whole job. They held the money in escrow. When the cabinets arrived, they paid Thomasville, When the countertops were installed and I was happy, they paid the vendor. When the whole installation was completed, they paid Meridian Construction. My contact at Home Depot was one of the kitchen/bath designers. She was fabulous (Maryann Cavanaugh) and most responsive to any questions or issues I had. The whole experience was the best I've ever had with this kind of work.
Description of Work: Meridian has contracted with Home Depot for the installation work on products purchased through them. I had a kitchen remodel done. I added Thomasville cabinets, quarts counter tops throughout, new sink, faucet, hardware and lighting. The work Meridian did was the installation of everything but the counter tops, which Home Depot contracted through a separate vendor.
