From the quote to the installation I was happy with the work done. The office staff were very responsive to my calls and scheduling the job was easy, noted - this was prior to the start of the cooling season. Had a follow up question months later after the utility company shut off our gas and was quickly put in touch with head of company for advice - much appreciated.

We called them on a referral from another Angie's List contractor to install metal sleeves in to our existing air ducts because we discovered that the ducts did not extend down through the ceiling and when we removed the vent covers to clean the vents, plaster would break off and fall as well as insulation and other debris. We were also concerned that it was taking longer for the house to cool off since air was being lost into the walls instead of being sent into the rooms. We called Tempco and explained the situation. They then sent over a technician a week later who was told that he was being sent for a service call to find out why our system was not working. After we explained that the system worked fine, he basically told us that it was a waste of his time because the office could have sent one of the guys who installed ducts instead. He could not give us a price, but told us that the office would call us. After a week of following up, we got an email from the owner who emailed us with a price. There was no contract written up whatsoever. We called the office and asked for proof of insurance, which they readily supplied to their credit. We waited a couple of weeks to schedule a date. When we called to follow up, we were told that we were scheduled for two days from the time we called. We explained that we could not accommodate them at that time and wondered why they did not call us to arrange a time instead of assigning us a time. They then got back to us another week later to ask us if an upcoming date would work. I emailed the owner to say that the date would be fine and to ask if they were EPA compliant since the main purpose of having the ducts finished was to avoid any potential lead dust from the plaster ceilings from entering the rooms. I told the owner that if they were not yet current with the most recent EPA lead-paint guidelines, then I would just like a simple written statement explaining how they would be cleaning up. Although the risk was small, I was concerned that since every room would be worked in, that we could have some problems if they did not clean up afterwards. The owner called me the next day and told me flatly that he did not want to do the job as he did not want to "get involved". I appreciate his honesty however, I was disappointed that he did not want to do the job properly especially since he had been referred to us by a colleague.
