It was the coldest day of the year and these poor men worked outside for 3 hours. My house is 150 years old and not easy to work with. However the work was completed with a minimum amount of time without power. Wonderful job !

My husband communicated with the owner, John, who came with his workers to do the job. They were punctual, polite, neat, and respectful. All turned out well.

Overall, we could not have been more DISAPPOINTED by someone rated highly on this site; even after seeing work to be done so many holes were created in sheet rock it took a painter two days to fix it ( maybe more!); hole for wall outlet was CUT IN THE FLOOR BY MISTAKE!! Told me wall lights needed metal drop piece but they worked fine in another house with out and they did not come with that piece! I had to tell him that the fixtures were NOT SECURE on the wall; debated this!!! Came back with metal plates to put behind them; NOT THE LOOK I WAS GOING FOR! We spoke twice about a generator BEFORE SANDY and he NEVER came thru; I have been too angry to write this in the past; I think I still am!

After calling two companies before call JD Electric and those companies not having time for us, my husband called and spoke with John who made an exception to coming to our service area. John and his crew were punctual and professional. They solved two of the problems we called about and are currently working on our landscaping lights. The fee was reasonable and the work area was promptly cleaned up by John's crew. John is a great guy and he and his men were knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this company to any of Angie's List members.

John and his crew installed two over the counter light fixtures in our bathroom. The installation was challenging since access to the electric recepticle boxes in the wall was only through the holes in the full-wall mirror that had been cut previously to receive the light fixtures that had previosly been installed there but had to be replaced. Also the company that supplied the new fixtures supplied us with one inappropriate mounting plate. John and his crew did an excellent job in handling a delicate situation. We are very happy with the outcome, and the new fixtures look great. John also kindly gave us a briefing on the electrical wiring arrangements for our generator and its transmission box. We are now much better educated in that respect--and particuarly understand better what equipmnt will operate when we are on generator power. We highly recommend JD Electric.

When another electrician backed out when he was informed that a friend /engineer was reviewing his quote I contacted JD for a quote. He came quickly and he reviewed all the problems and solutions with me. My friend told me estimate was fair, He always should up when he said he would or called if he was even a little bit delayed. I first called John on a Sunday due to half of my house having no electric power. He returned my call promtly and was at my house on Monday morning. He inspected the wiring and expalined several options and costs. His crew fixed the issue and based on their work I decided to replace the panel and upgrade the service which was done about 2 weeks later. I have also recently used JD Electric to rewire a portion of my bsasement. In all three jobs they arrived on time and performed the work promptly. Work areas were cleaned up. John and his crew were very professional and took the time to explain what was done. I will continue to use them for any electrical work I need in the future.

JD Electric was recommended to me by a lighting shop in Locust Valley which I frequent. I needed some bookcases retrofitted with library lights, and I asked John to give me an estimate. Weeks later he gave me the estimate, which was quite high--almost double--than what I had paid electricians in the past on an hourly basis. Despite his high estimate, I had wanted to continue working with John and hopefully reach a mutually agreeable number, but John does not have conversations about price. I am a longtime homeowner, and I've had countless renovations and improvements done by contractors in my homes over the years. Never before have I met a service provider--and owner, no less--so defensive. John told me that he does not discuss price and that his clients on the North Shore "give him the key and tell him to send them the bill, no questions asked." JD Electric is based in Glen Cove, but he is surprisingly elitist about in which towns and with whom he'll work. He told me today that he won't travel "above Northern Boulevard". Our outdoor lighting suddenly did not work and the circuit breaker was tripping. It turned out to be a short in an outdoor wire caused by moisture after the wire had likely been nicked by another contractor several years earlier. John and his team diagnosed the problem quickly, dug up the wire, replaced part of it with new wiring and put the lawn back in place in a very clean and neat fashion. The lights are now back in operation.

They were very good. They were prompt and attentive to my needs and queries. They were professional and did an excellent job. I would use them in the future if needed.

He is very nice and very competent. Those are the qualities that stand out to me; if they are nice to me, and know what they are doing. If they can meet those qualities, they will get a good review unless they are really expensive or something like that. I will use him again.

The overall experience was excellent. I would use this provider again.

The job went well; he came in and did what he said he would do at the price he said he would do it for. He came and left on time and I thought he was pretty good. The only issue I had was that the price could have been better. I will use him again in the future.

They gave us suggestion as to which bulbs we should use with our dimmers.

I called and left message. Owner got back to me same day. He arranged to come over the same week to assess job and provide estimate. We were able to work out a service time that accommodate both of our schedules within 7 days of estimate. The service crew was prompt, courteous, competent, neat and well prepared. The work was completed in a timely manner.

We had a short in part of the house and thought that the electrician would have to look for a broken wire between the walls. This would have been very time consuming and expensive. We called JD Electric from Angie's List. The gentleman was prompt on his appointment time and as you can read above, was quick and honest in determining our problem, which was much less severe then we thought.

Their service was excellent. John and his crew were very prompt and helpful, above and beyond what was originally asked. He very kindly provided advice on issues (non-electrical issues) he noticed I may need to look into as well. His crew was respectful, knowledgeable and quick. i would/will be using them again for future electrical issues.

John came to my house on June 23 at the time he said he would come. and fixed one of my fluorescent fixtures in my basement. He and his guys are very professional and did a great job and fast.

John and his men came exactly on time. They got started right away. They were very neat and cleaned up all debris when finished.

JD Electric was fantastic. They set the high bar for the whole experience. They found us ways of saving money. They did exactly what they told us they were going to do. The work the actually did was increadible. From the time they gave me an estimate till the time they were finished, they did an excellent job.

I called JD electric about a light switch concern,and safety concerns relating to overloading. He responded to my inquiry right away, showed up right on time for the appointment. JD explained everything, was straightforward and did not try to sell me services I did not need. He and his assistants seem like an efficient team. I will definitely put JD Electric on the top of my list to call for electrical issues in my house.
