Tim was very pleasant from the first phone call I had made. He came over and did an estimate, was straight forward and to the point of what he could do for us as requested. We provided the stain and he did the rest of the work which was first remove any accumulated mold on our cedar home and stained what was requested. We have a very tall cedar home and he was able to get to those high areas. He came to do the work when he said he would and we were pleased with his professionalism and pricing.
Description of Work: Stained three gable ends and chimney box of cedar home

Tim's great. I'm actually afraid to review him because I don't want Tim to be too busy for me. Thorough, trustworthy and on schedule.
Description of Work: We've used him for interior painting. We've used him for carpentry. We've used him for plumbing. We've used him to stop a leak in the roof. We're planning on using him for exterior painting and staining, deck refinishing and carpentry. Very happy with him and his work. He's been super helpful to know.

Tim was pleasant, hardworking, and very skilled. We love the deck he built. He is honest and would definitely hire him again.
Description of Work: Tim replaced our old pressure treated deck with Azek boards and Landmarke vinyl railing. He also built a new stairway and platform to connect the new upper deck with our lower deck.

Regrettably, unexpected financial issues forced me place this project on hold.
Description of Work: I was considering some electrical work and contacted Clifford Construction as they were in my area and had a good rating. Tim at Clifford contacted my right away and we set up a time to meet for him to review my project.

The job went very well. We found Tim on Angie's list and interviewed him and three others for the job. He had great ideas for the work we wanted to do and was extremely flexible when our ideas changed for whatever reason. He was cost-conscious on our behalf. For example, instead of getting a dumpster, he would haul away debris in his truck to the appropriate place and donated material to Habitat for Humanity if they could use it. He recommended someone to refinish one of our existing hardwood floors and coordinated that job for us. He helped us find the period doors we were looking for and order the correct sizes. He recommended a flooring business to us and even suggested a particular carpet installer that worked there that he had worked with on other houses and knew did a good job. He recommended a place to buy our new hardwood flooring that had good prices and delivery times. He was on time every day and if he needed to come late or leave early for any reason he would let me know and tell me why. He cleaned up after himself every day. He gave us his cell phone number and email and made himself available on the job and after hours if we had questions or a message. My favorite response of his to anything was, 'Not a problem'. Tim really can do anything and will do it until you are satisfied (I am rather picky - perfectionist maybe - and while some ways of doing things wouldn't bother someone else they would bother me - and Tim performed to that level). He would also consult us regularly to ask how we wanted something done or how we wanted it to look, or just gave us options for materials he could use. Tim is lead certified which was important to us especially since we have a young child. He coordinated with the person who built and installed our new staircase and bannister - they were in touch directly in regard to scheduling the demolition and removal of the old stairs and stairwell and install of the new stairs and bannister, and both were flexible, professional and thoughtful of each other's work here and the space and time they needed to do their work. Tim is personable, he is a family man and interacted happily and comfortably with my daughter and myself when he was working, he is flexible with ideas, he knows a lot of local people in his business, and he is trustworthy - we gave him keys to our house at times when we wouldn't be here at his arrival or departure. When he works for you, your job is his only focus. When he is finished, he will move to his next job, and there is always one waiting.
Description of Work: Work done on our 1800's house. Master bedroom - plaster removed from walls and ceiling. Walled-in chimney removed. Floor, window and door trim removed. Door removed. Two overhead lights removed. Sheet rock installed on walls and ceiling. Ceiling leveled before sheet rock installed. New door, window and floor trim installed as well as crown molding. New door installed with new period doorknobs and locks. One overhead light centered and ceiling light/fan installed. Walls, ceiling, trim and door painted. Lead paint on window sills stripped and repainted. New/more wall outlets installed. Trim finished in master bathroom. Upstairs hallway - plaster removed from walls and ceiling. Insulation installed where necessary. Overhead light removed. Door and floor trim removed. Floor removed and joists made level. Sheetrock installed on walls and ceiling. Hardwood floor installed. New door and floor trim installed. Walls, ceiling and trim painted. New light fixture installed. New threshold made and installed between hallway and bathroom tile floor. Upstairs office/bedroom - previously a bathroom which had to be completely gutted. Tub, sink, toilet, heater and mirror removed. Closet wall and door removed. Walled-in chimney removed. Water/sewer pipes removed. Floor removed. Plaster on walls and ceiling removed. Window, door and floor trim removed. Door removed. Overhead light removed. Light switch moved from outside the room to inside the room. Additional outlets installed. Insulation installed where necessary. Sheetrock installed on walls and ceiling. Ceiling in closet made same height as rest of the room. Closet light removed. New door, window and floor trim installed. New hardwood floor installed. New door installed with new period doorknob and lock. Ceiling light/fan installed and centered. Chair rail installed. Walls, ceiling, trim and door painted. Thresholds made and installed into closet and hallway. Lead paint on window sill stripped and repainted. Office/bedroom closet created - there is a door to the attic in this room. Since we took out the closet that was there to make a larger room, we had Tim push about 6 feet into the attic, install new hardwood flooring and build us an insulated cedar closet complete with hanging dowel, shelving and new light. At the other end of the closet he installed a door with matching hardware and doorknobs to go into the rest of the attic. Stairway - new sheetrock installed and painted. Made the doorway at the bottom of the stairway higher and the ceiling at the bottom part of the stairs higher. Replaced/installed and painted trim. Refinished hardwood floor affected by trim removal. Downstairs living room - removed fireplace mantel, repaired and painted wall, refinished hardwood floor affected by trim removal. Installed and painted new floor trim in that area to match existing trim. Downstairs bathroom - fixed paint on walls damaged by ice build-up during the winter. Other work - installed and painted new door to another bedroom upstairs and installed new period doorknob and lock. Removed plaster in the closet in that bedroom and installed cedar walls, hanging dowels and shelving. Installed a new light and light switch in the closet. Finished trim in upstairs main bathroom.

Tim was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. Friendly, smart, accommodating and creative. This is an old house (1850) with a new-ish addition, and he was able to work with us to bring the older look into the new area of the house so that it now seems much more unified. It goes without saying that he is a terrific house painter. Clifford Construction is a great, dependable resource in an area where they're hard to find.
Description of Work: 1. Removal, demolition and reconstruction installing four large double hung windows where there had been 3 small ones, including interior and exterior finishing, on Antique house. 2. Exterior caulking and painting, plus reconstruction of 2 porch columns in neoclassical fashion 3. Installation of new gutters and leaders on back end of the house

Tim is great to deal with - very personable and a good guy. We found him through a referral from someone we trusted. We had no qualms about giving him access to the home when we were away. We gave him a sketch of how we wanted the basement to be finished out and he took it from there. He stayed on schedule and budget and accommodated our various changes to the project without complaint. We're very happy with his work and will use him again for other projects.
Description of Work: We used Tim Clifford for two separate projects. On the first project he built a wall and installed a door to create a new bedroom out of a larger bedroom. On the second project he built out our basement and created a playroom and an "art" room with a sink, laundry hook-up and additional half-bathroom with macerating toilet. Tim is a jack-of-all-trades and in addition to the carpentry handled the electrics, heating and plumbing as well. He also paints, but we opted to do that ourselves.
