Casella Waste Management - Geneva

DO NOT USE....After having been lied to for three weeks I am now going with another. If I could give 0 stars I would. Lie after lie after lie. They did not pick up for 3 weeks!!! Then they offer 1 week credit!!! Why one week instead of 3? Because the bin is too heavy for normal pickup??? What ? Say that again! You don't pick up (a service I paid for) then want to charge me extra for your failure. Do your self a favor..read the reviews (something I did not do) and get another company. Or if your near a recycling pant like ALPCO then use them. Cheaper and don't need to be lied to!

I had hired Al's Maintenance to pick up my trash an recycling and they were great. Then, about a year ago, they sold the business to Casella. They are horrible. They pick up recycling every other week which is fine, but they changed weeks without telling us. Then, they skipped my house and my neighbor's house. My neighbor called on our behalf, and they came out the next day and picked up his but not mine even though both of ours were out! It has been nothing but headaches with them!

We chose casella for a 2yd dumpster monthly pickup. They are the only place to offer it around us. We have had them for nearly 5 years. In that time the amount of missed pick ups was just crazy. At one point our garbage didnt get picked up for 2 months! the driver would consistently mark ours as picked up and it never was. After yet another missed pick up, we were told to jujst pile new garbage on top...in mid summer!!! Not only were racooons getting to things a bear came and ripped it all everywhere! they sent someone with a pick up truck to collect everything. He collected a couple bags and left destroyed garbage everywhere even though we were told they would clean up the mess since it was their fault. Never got any bill adjustments from any of it. Now a couple weeks ago we get a call from them telling us we can no longer have dumpster service only tote service. Our dumpster is all of a sudden a "dangerous location pick up". The dumpster had been in the same spot for nearly 5 years! when we first got them it was casella who came out to find a good spot for it. We couldnt get any answers as to why all of a sudden it was an issue. Called them 4 times to be told they would call us back, never heard back from them, they just picked up the dumpster 2 weeks later. We have settled for tote service elsewhere, if we have to use totes im not going through them. Ive had better customer service at the DMV.

We joined the service about 10 years ago in Clifton Springs when they were stellar in everything they did. They cost a few dollars more than anyone else, but they reliably removed anything you put in your can. They only collect recycling every other week while Waste Management collects weekly for a few dollars less. Within the last 2 years we started experiencing missed pick-up dates in the Farmington area, but would get an automated call indicating what had happened and the issue was resolved the next day. Within the last year we were no longer getting these calls and we would experience missed pick-ups at several times a month. When we'd call, there was a broken down truck and an indication someone would come the next day. Eventually when we discontinued service it had gotten to they weren't picking up our containers, someone would promise to call and no follow-up. Also keep in mind that with their missed pick-ups, we're still getting charged variable fuel surcharges etc that seem to me should be discounted when they don't provide their service on a given week. Shame on me for sticking with them for so long, each time I'd call in there was a promise they were resolving their staffing issues and we would see improvement soon. That day never came. We left the company in August and were told they would come in 5-7 business days to pick up the totes. I called today 20 business days later and was assured I wasn't forgotten, but they couldn't provide a date when the cans would be picked up even when pressed. In contrast our new service company has been providing consistent weekly pickup at a rate of slightly less. At least in the Farmington NY area, I would strongly encourage you to skip Casella if you're even pondering them. They have a pretty serious business issue and other companies seem to keep up their employee morale much better as we have experienced very friendly acts of service since changing. Consistently placed totes after emptying and willingness to wait if you make a last minute run to add something to your tote at the road as they're pulling up. Please note the monthly cost shared below is the last and we saw a slight increase each month in our rate of about 50 cents. (July 2017 was $36 vs $43 in August)

We have had nothing but trouble with this company since we began service about three months ago. At the beginning of the summer, they had every excuse in the book about not having enough help, people being sick, etc., etc. It took weeks to get this situation resolved. Then things went well for about a month. Today, we are back to square one. Our garbage was supposed to be picked up yesterday and, when they didn't come by late afternoon, I called. I was told they were still out and would be here yesterday. Of course, they never came. I called again today, since they still haven't shown up, and was told they cannot come until tomorrow. I will be cancelling our service here. It is a horrible company to do business with. They "yes" you to death, and then never follow through. Please don't waste your time.

They deliver as promised. They pick up the trash and recyclables. They have online billing. They have a good order center for us to start service with. So, they are set up professionally.

Missed my house on three scheduled pick up days I only pay for two weeks out of the entire month for service which is $35 and when I missed two in the same month they only credited my account $17 and they picked up for me on an off week one time and I went right past my house down the road and after he passed my house he came back like 45 minutes later pick it up the Day after Christmas which was not a schedule pick up day for me and now they missed me again Friday for the third time!!! and I called yesterday and they said that they'd have somebody come pick it up today and it was not picked up again today and I want a refund for an entire month which is $35.00 because this is ridiculous, they pick up my neighbors, they've even missed her last month!

They have a very pleasant staff that made setting up my service with them pleasant and informative. They are the only provider that I called that supplies the large recylce containers for my family.

They only come and get the trash every other week or 3 weeks for the last few mths and when they do they leave trash that falls out of the trash on the ground. There has been time when they did not take all the trash and left some. Its a waste of time.

Before delivery, over the phone, I received a list of items not to be put into the dumpster. I called once while I had the dumpster to clarify whether I could dump an item. The dumpster was delivered and picked up on the scheduled days.

They have been good about picking up our garbage on a weekly schedule. However, I do have strong reservations about their business practices and that is why I have stopped using their services. I found out they are bringing rocks from Pennsylvania from hydrofracking sites. The process creates a serious problem for our community and environment. They have confirmed that the rocks contain various toxic chemicals that can be very harmful.
