Around mid-October 2012 I order the Video Repair procedure for my laptop at the cost of $69.99. I understood that there was a small chance that the process may not fix the video issue I was having. I got a call from Frank at Notebook Tek advising me that the process didn?t work and he recommended a new mother board. He ordered one and the cost was $199.99 which included a discount since I already paid for the Video Repair process. Around October 26th Frank called me to advise me that the motherboard was replaced and he was shipping the laptop back to me. He told me that the lid was sticking a little which might make the laptop harder to open. Once I received the laptop I noticed the lid had damage to the hinge which is why it was sticking and harder to open. The LCD screen worked fine despite the hinge damage. However, once I put the laptop on to its docking station I found that both the expansion port and the VGA port were not working on the mother board. This meant that I could not use my docking station and/or larger monitor with my laptop. I sent the laptop back to Notebook Tek around November 9th. Frank confirmed that the ports were not working and that he needed to send back the mother board to the vendor for credit. He advised that the damaged hinge will more than likely not survive another disassembly to replace the mother board a second time. He advised my best option would be to purchase a used HP 8510P laptop for $150. So far I am out $69.99 plus $199.99 and two shipping charges. I explained that I use the laptop most often as a workstation with the larger monitor and didn?t that I should have to pay an additional $150 since they damaged the hinge. He lowered the cost to $100 and included a docking station for the 8510P. I was already out $309.35 and felt $100 more to get a working computer with my data moved to it would be okay. Late November I got the 8510P and docking station without a power adapter/cord. I called Frank and he sent me a power adapter that arrived about a week later. The power adapter works fine on the 8510P laptop but not the docking station. I emailed the model numbers and part numbers to Frank on November 28th and he is said he needed to research and order a power adapter for the docking station and even though the power ports look the same on the laptop and the docking station that they require different cords. December 2nd Frank says he ordered the cord. December 11th I received the power cord. The docking station still doesn?t not power on. My lesson learned here is that I should have insisted they repair the damage they caused as well as ensure the mother board they ordered was fully operational. I At a total cost of $409.35 I still don?t have a working workstation. I feel that I have wasted a lot of time and money and am left with a used laptop and less storage space and less features (no built-in webcam, not wide screen for examples). For the same money I could have purchased a new laptop running the most recent Windows operation system from my local store.
Description of Work: I ordered their "LAPTOP "NO VIDEO" REPAIR" service for $69.99 which didn't work. They replaced the mother board and the new board didn't full work (several ports didn't work). They damaged my laptop and instead of repairing that damage they recommened a laptop/docking station replacement for an additional cost. The docking station replacement doesn't work.

We did send you a couple cords for the docking station that we gave you for free, I am assuming they did not power it up? If not I do apologize for this as they require a high wattage cord. We would be more than happy to give you a full refund if you would ship us back our laptop.
