Anthony gave a free estimate via email based on approximate measurements and photos I sent him. He was flexible with the price when I asked if there was anything I could do to save money. Specifically, I offered to paint everything myself, and he agreed that if I did that he would lower the price by $900. I appreciated his flexibility and his ideas, so I invited him to come to my house to look at the space and provide an official estimate. His estimate did not change after coming to see the space in person, and he described in more detail what he would do. After the first visit, we agreed to move forward with the work. Anthony came back to deliver a signed contract and take a few more measurements. We gave him a first payment to start work. Less than a week later he sent me a picture of the work he completed so far, and it looked great! He added a little detail to the built-ins that we did not ask for, because he thought it would add to the aesthetic. He did not charge us extra for the detail trim. He is great at what he does and he was right. I think his opinion can definitely be trusted. Then, he offered to do the installation on a Saturday so that we would not have to take time off of our jobs to have the installation done - this was a huge help for us. So he came on a Saturday and had one helper. They were there for about 6 hours and brought their own shop vac and drop cloth. They did everything they said they would, cleaned up after themselves, and did a great job. We still have to paint but we are using the built-ins every day and they are beautiful.
Description of Work: Anthony came to give us an estimate on custom built dressers and shelving for the knee walls in the attic of my house. There was existing work done by the previous homeowner that left openings in the knee walls, which I wanted to fill in and make functional with storage. We hired him and he did come and complete the work.
!Anthony is great about keeping you in the loop as the project progresses. He shows up when he says he is going to and keeps detailed lists of costs. He and his partner Justin are total perfectionists and they have great imaginations. Anthony will ask you what you want done, but if you give him creative leeway you will not be disappointed! He has a great eye for design. I already have my next few projects planned for him!
Description of Work: This is not the first time I have used Adirondack Carpentry. Anthony Gallo is a top notch carpenter and extremely professional. In my last house he designed and built a beautiful corner entertainment unit complete with a granite top and pull out extension drawers that held hundreds of DVD's. He did crown molding that incorporated the top of the built in unit and did a new mantle surround. His work is just stunning. The latest project he did for me was extensive custom trim work in a finished basement. He did gorgeous sliding barn doors, stained wainscoting going down into the basement, a custom made handrail with wrought iron spindles, and bookcases built into the area under the stairs. I also had him do a wall of Pottery Barn style cubbies in the playroom that turned out so much better than anything I could have bought from a store. He made them with adjustable shelving and soft closing drawers so little fingers wouldn't get stuck! Then he laid a hand scraped wood floor to complete the project.
