Steve's Appliance Repair

Our oven decided to crap out on us on Thanksgiving Day!!! We had two 15 lb. birds in there and we were expecting 21 people for dinner and our GE oven stopped working... We had already contacted Steve the week before because the oven did the same thing then but then it started working again so I stupidly told him not to come--that everything was OK... Wow...was I sorry! The oven stops working while we have two 15 lb. turkeys inside and my wife says, "Call Steve." I say, "On Thanksgiving? That's nuts--he would never come..." So I DIDN'T call and we ended up shuttling those two big birds between our house and a friend's that lived about five blocks away and had a working oven large enough to hold the two turkeys. Thankfully, the turkeys came out great and Steve arrived a few days later when we had an opening in our normally very busy schedule. When we told him the story, he laughed and said he would have absolutely come on Thanksgiving! Now I felt doubly stupid and my wife gives me the stinky eye... Steve was great, he is an excellent communicator and he quickly and correctly diagnosed the problem and left us with a functioning oven. I gladly forked over the $200 and my $1,500 oven is now running like new. He truly is the "Appliance Guru."

He had to make 3 trips - one to diagnose the problem, and then twice to do the reairs as the oven had been in use and was too hot to work on the first time he came back with parts. He was able to complete the repair on the second trip. I have had both these parts replaced before and he did the repairs cheaper plus he fixed my Fridge ice maker arm for nothing while he was here which was nice of him He did have some trouble getting here on time but he kept me informed by phone.

I called Steve on the very Sunday morning that Hurricane Irene hit the NYC region, expecting to get his voice mail message. I was very pleasantly surprised that not only did Steve answer the phone, but that he was at my door within one hour--- during a hurricane! Really - no sh&*t! Within one hour of his arrival Steve performed the repairs and service within his projected time and estimate. Steve was professional, competent, friendly AND generally cleaned up when done. The job performed was way less expensive than having to buy a new dryer! I waited several months from the service date to see how well the work was done and how long the repair would last. It's now three months later and my dryer and our family are still happy. Strong recommendation for Steves Appliance Repair.

He was responsive and communicated well, but I felt his price was high. It seems to be ok, and he was a friendly gentleman.

Steve came and diagnosed the problem with my oven and installed a new starter. He was prompt, courteous, and efficient. He did it in about 30 minutes. I was very satisfied with the result.

What a nice guy and a true professional! I called him at 7.30 am to get my Subzero fridge fixed- he told me he doesn't service subzero so I initially struck out. About an hour later he called back (I think he had drunk his coffee by then) and offered me a few pointers of what I could do to get the fridge working again (e.g. clean the coils). He also warned me about some of the tricks other appliance repair firms play. I ended up going with someone else to get the fridge fixed, but I would not hesitate to call Steve in the future for all my other appliance repair needs.

I was pleased and would use Steve again. I called on a Sunday and got through on the first try. Steve came promptly the following morning, as he said he would. Steve diagnosed the problem quickly and made the repair that morning. My food is again cold and I did not need to buy a new refrigerator – exactly what I wanted.

First, I called the Maytag repair service and told them that the electronic ignition on my stove top was not working and I needed it repaired. They told me they couldn't send a repair person for a week. I mentioned that I was lighting the burners with a match and they told me that using a match could cause an explosion. They emphatically said, "Under no circumstances should you use a match! " A week seemed like a very long time to be without the benefit of the stove top. Then I remembered Angie's List! All of Steve's reports were good, so I called him. He answered the phone himself and when he heard my distress told me he would try to see me that day, although it might be late. He called me at least once to let me know that he was still working, but would see me later. He did come that day and after looking at the stove, told me that he had to replace the spark module. The part had to be ordered; it would take about a week. I expressed my disappointment to Steve, telling him that a week was a very long time to be without the burners. He told me that using a match was okay, as long as it was not for the oven. It was okay to use a match on the burners. Under those circumstances, waiting a week didn't seem that bad at all. He quoted a price and required a deposit for the part. Steve called me about a week later and told me he had the part, so we made an appointment. He came with an assistant, because he had to move the stove and have someone hold an additional light source for him to do the work. He put a drop cloth on the kitchen floor to prevent scratches. After the spark module was replaced, Steve (or his assistant ) took out a vacuum and actually vacuumed the area behind the oven! And the good news was that the final price was lower than the original one quoted. I would definitely call Steve again to repair my appliances. I highly recommend him.

I called Steve once several years ago to repair my dishwasher and more recently to repair my refrigerator. I'm so glad I found him on Angie's List and wouldn't even think about calling anyone else for appliance repairs. He's a great guy...professional, punctual, honest and reliable! He didn't even charge for the last visit because repairs were not needed.

I called Steve on a saturday to come and look at the machine. He was away, however, he did call back upon his return and spoke with my husband. He had asked my husband a few questions and had provided guidance on how to fix. Steve was right, and without him having to come by or even charge us a dime, the problem was fixed. Steve is a honest man and wouldn't steer you wrong. I would recommend him to any friend or family member. Thank you Steve!!!

It went exactly as Steve promised. We had a new installation within a week. Very satisfied.

I found Steve from Angie's List. I called him around 11am on a Saturday, and he said he would be there by 3pm (which he was). When Steve arrived with an assistant, he was very pleasant, and provided me with what he thought might be the problem with the dryer within a few minutes. Once he finished diagnosing the problem, he told me what it would cost to fix it including parts,and I felt it was quite fair. He fixed the problem in a short amount of time.I thanked him, and told him I was going to give him an "A" rating on Angie's List. He told me to wait till tomorrow so I would be using the dryer for a few runs, which I thought was a good suggestion. The next day, Steve called to follow-up to make sure the dryer was working well and I told him it was. I can't remember someone coming to my house to fix something ever calling the next day... that's something special.

The process went better than expected, I highly recommend him!

I got his name from Angie’s List. I think he is a straight shooter. He gives you a beforehand account of exactly what he is going to do. He got me new parts that I needed and charged me very little for it because the parts were not new parts; they were reprocessed parts that had 1 year warranty. He is straightforward and very nice. He fixed the machine excellently.

Steve is straightforward and clear. He told me the problem, explained and showed me what he was doing to fix it and very quickly took care to order the part I needed for my fridge which was not cooling. Steve answers the phone when you call and Steve is the person who calls you to follow up. He knows what he's doing and does a clean job.

Our refrigerator was leaking from what appeared to be the freezer. I went to Angie's list since I really did not know who to call. The first person I called said it would be $150 and if he could not fix it that was still the cost. When I said that is a lot of money, he said "call someone else". So I tried Steve and as my previous statement attests to I was very glad I did.

Sterve replaced the igniter. Work was quick, cleasn, efficient. Oven works perfectly. Steve answered our questions and left us feeling very comfortable and positive about his services.

He responded promptly, arrived the same day, installed the new appliance 2 days later. All work was neat, clean, and very well done.

I have two ovens that had stopped working and on one, two burners were not lighting. Steve checked them, determined the causes of the problems, cleaned out the burners and their ignitions and installed new oven ignitions. He was quick, personable, knowledgeable and efficient. He saved me a lot of money and aggravation. I'd happily use his services again.

He came the same day that I called. The belt was in a strange place and he worked hard to replace the belt. His price was reasonable. He doesn't charge as much for a service call as the other companies I called. He was personable.

Steve was great. I found his name right here on Angie's List. When I called him up to explain the problems I have had with the washing machine, he was able to diagnose the problem right away. He came by the next day to check it out, and to confirm that it was the part he suspected (it was something connected to the door mechanism). He came back once more to bring over the new part to and install it. The price he quoted was reasonable, and he kept to his word. He arrived when he said he would, and everything worked out perfectly. In my opinion you can't go wrong with calling Steve, he certainly lived up to his reputation - all of these great reviews I had read on Angie's List were right!
