+ 0 moreI discovered that my dishwasher and washing machine were both leaking. They caused a minor flood in the kitchen and basement. I immediately pulled out Steve's phone number because I knew he could get the job done. I used Steves Appliance Repair before to have my dryer fixed. I thought I was going to have to buy a new dryer but Steve came in, diagnosed the problem and fixed it immediately. Once again I called on Steve without hesitation. He was punctual, he diagnosed the problem on both my dishwasher and washing machine right away and charged me a discounted price. Thanks Steve. You are definitely number one on my list!! If you need quality appliance repair at a fair price then I highly recommend Steve. He will get the job done.

+ -1 moreI have a GE gas dryer that was squeaking like crazy when loaded half-full. I called Steve, who picked up his own line and offered to come out within the hour (!) I was unavailable then, and he called me back the next morning just as promised. He made it clear the visit was only $45 and that that amount would be credited against any labor and/or parts.I described the problem and he came precisely in the agreed-upon one-hour window.He had my dryer apart in 60 seconds and zeroed in on the problem. I was amazed that he had the GE part IN HIS TRUCK, and installed it in under 30 minutes. He had told me the exact cost of the parts and labor, and when asked what it would cost to replace the whole dryer, gave me a fair, accurate estimate. I opted for the repair, paid him, and received a one-year warranty.All in all I spent a very reasonable amount, had all my questions answered, and spent less than 15 minutes of my own time. Couldn't be happier. Would definitely use Steve again and recommend him to others.

+ -1 moreVia this review i would recommend Steve for his honesty and forthrightness.Via this review i would recommend AGAINST the purchse of the two brands of appliances which i currently own - GE Monogram cooktop and Whirlpool dishwasher.
Description of Work: Almost exactly to the date that the warranties expired, both my Whirlpool dishwasher and GE Monogram cooktop started "behaving badly".My husband tried to fixed the dishwasher - top rack dishes does not get clean - but was unsuccessful. For the GE cooktop - all burners have to be lit manually and one does not work at all - we called in a GE repairman who diagnosed the problem and advised he would be back with the parts .... never heard from him again.Frustrated with hand washing dishes and lighting the $1600 stove with matches, and also not wanting to compromise on the quality of service to these appliances, I gave in and finally joined AL which has been sending me invitations to join for over 2 years.I chose Steve based on the number of services performed/reviewed and the comments about his skills and professionalism. We were not disappointed.Regarding the cooktop - Steve advised that the repair and parts costs would greatly outweight the benefit of getting the stove fixed and recommend we just purchase a new stove. Regarding the dishwasher - Steve instructed my husband how to fix it - which he did successfully, and now we have a working dishwasher again. Since no actual "repair" was performed, Steve only charged for the trip out - $35 - which was a discounted amount since he declared we had been through enough appliance problems :-)

+ -1 moreAbsolutely no complaints whatsoever. Steve is one in a million because HE CALLS YOU BACK. Steve's services are in demand but he still calls you back! Ever have a repairman call you back? I never did. He came, went to work and fixed the second air conditioner. He was confident, classy and very professional. AND - when the job is finished - Steve calls you back AGAIN - to make sure everything is working as it should. Unreal! Unbelievable! Astounding!
Description of Work: We brought Steve back to our home to fix a second leaking air conditioner. We had the exact same problem with the one in another bedroom. Steve was, once again, a total pro in every sense of the word. Yes, Steve calls back. Steve makes the arrangements. He comes ON-TIME, he immediately goes to work. Usually, when an appliance needs a repair call, many of us just give up trying to find someone reliable and wind up buying a new appliance. Steve's top priority is to make certain that you DON'T have to buy a new one! Steve will save you money, time and aggravation!

To add to that, Steve called back the next day to ask whether the machine worked well and was I satisfied. I assured him that I was extremely with the whole procedure. It was of the most satisfying business arrangements I have been in. I will call him back any time there is a need for his services.

Researched AL and desperate to get my wet sheets dried called Steve of Steve's Appliance Repair, Flushing, NY. * Steve answered immediately and told me that although he was in the middle of another job he would call me back within the hour and as promised HE DID call me back 20 minutes later! * He made the service appointment for the next day with a window between 2 and 4 pm - AWESOME! * The day of the service appointment Steve called me at 1:30 pm to let me know that I was his next stop - all I can say is "WOW"!. * Lo and behold Steve appeared smack dab in the middle of the promised time-frame at 3 pm - he ascertained that the electronic ignition was shot, happened to have one in his truck and replaced it on the spot - 15 minutes from start to finish! * I can't emphasize enough just how much I APPRECIATE it when someone in a service business not only performs the repair . in a professional manner but fulfills all their promises and follows up with a phone call to advise on their estimated time of arrival too! A+ for Steve, he's a keeper!

+ -1 more.Refrigerator stopped working found Steve on Angie's List he was in the neighborhood. I gave him a call and he said he would try to get to me that afternoon. He called me back in about 2 hours and said he was on his way. When he showed up he was extremly nice and friendly. Steve tried replacing the thermostat, relay, and power switch. Nothing worked and he told me I needed a new refrigerator. He said he was sorry he couldn't fix it. I would use Steve again.
Description of Work: My refrigerator stopped working. Steve checked the unit out and told me that the compressor was not working and that it was time for a new refrigerator. He came over in a couple of hours on a very hot day. Steve tried replacing a couple of electrical parts but the compressor wasn't working.

My refrigerator stopped working he wasn't able to get it working but I rememebered him when my dryer stopped working last week.I called him around 1pm and he called me back in less than an hour that he was on his way. Steve found that the belt was broken and he said it would be a good idea to also replace that belt pulley. He had the parts in his truck and he was finished within an hour. Once again I was very pleased with Steve's professionalism. His card is on by wall and I wouldn't think twice about using him again or telling my friends about him.
Description of Work: Clothes dryer stopped working. Called Steve and he came over within an hour. Checked and found belt was broken. He replaced the belt and pulley and was on his way in less than a hour.

+ -1 moreI have a Maytag Neptune gas dryer that started making a horrendous screeching noise. I called Steve at 8:15 am and he was at my home right when he said he would be, only 3 hours after my call. He diagnosed the problem , and had to place an order for the part. He returned to my home 2 days later ( on a Saturday), accommodating my schedule. Not only did he replace the part, he cleaned the entire inside of the dryer while he had it open, getting rid of tons of old lint that had accumulated where I couldn't have gotten to. He is a pleasure to deal with and I will definitely call him again when I need an appliance repaired.

Description of Work: I phoned this business to set up an appointment to have my dishwasher repaired. Steve answered the phone and I described my dishwasher problem. I have a busy schedule, he was able to accomodate an appointment later in the week without any problem. When he arrived, he was very professional and explained what the problem was and provided me with the price before moving forward. He finished the job quickly. + -1 moreThe refrigerator is a GE product so I first called their 800 number. The first appointment they could give me was for Thursday afternoon - not a good option, so I searched for someone local on Angie's List. Found Steve's Appliance Repair, read others reviews and liked what I saw. Called him - he mentioned that he was returning from out of town and would give me a call later in the day and let me know if he could get to me. As promised, he called and said he was currently at another location but he could check my refrigerator in a little bit. Arrived at my house approximately 30 minutes later, checked the refrigerator, found the problem - the electronic panel on the rear of the refrig was not working, therefore, no power was being supplied to the cooling fan. Fortunately he had a replacement panel in his truck and - thankfully my refrigerator is back up and running properly. I would recommend Steve to anyone needing an appliance repair man. He is courteous and knowledgeable. Best of all he calls when he says he will, he also asked for a follow up call to let him know if the repair is working. How many repair people do that? This guy is a keeper!

+ -1 moreSo I got online with Angie's List..I found one guy that could see me on Monday which would have been just find but I wanted to get this done today..On Saturday not Monday..So I looked around a little more and saw this green star next to Steven's Appliance Repair..So I called Steve and he said that he had a job but if he had the time he would call me back..20 min. later he called and said he could be at my house 10 min.. I said ,"GREAT!!!"... We he arrived I had a tall glass filed with ice and I ask him if he wanted 'FIJI or Perrier'. It was a hot day. He said ,"No. let he fix your washer first.. 10 min. later,job done,"Game, Set ,Match". He did a great job..He replaced the switch and was on his way..Steve is a very nice man and a professional..I will tell my friends and would certainly contact him in the future

+ -1 moreWhen Steve and I spoke on the phone, he was able to give me a price quote and squeeze me into his busy schedule, to accommodate the fact that I had taken a day off from work to meet with other service companies for other issues in my home during this day. Steve arrived in a timely fashion and did a great job, despite having to work in a tight space (an alcove in my kitchen) AND he had to work with no air conditioning in my house (one of the other problems!) on a 95 degree day (and which I felt terrible about!) He did all this without a complaint, and did a complete, clean and professional job, taking the time to tape up all the connectionsneatly so they would be secure. He did all of this with a great attitude. I would certainly contact Steve again if needed.

Steve was there in about an hour and had the replacement part in his truck and was able to do the repair in less than a half hour. I have used this guy many times when the major appliance repair people could not be bothered to even return phone calls and Steve has always responded promptly.

Description of Work: I LOVE this guy! I called him because I am having a reception on Sunday evening, it is Wednesday afternoon, and my Sub-Zero refrigerator just died. He told me that he would stop by to see if he could do an emergency fix, and it would cost $50. He came by @ two hours later. After he looked, he said that he shouldn't do anything, and that I should wait for the regular Sub-Zero guy to do the full job. He then told me to go to PC Richard and buy a cheap "scratch and dent" refrigerator to put in the basement. He then said that he wouldn't feel right charging me $50. This is the kind of guy that you wish all repairmen are, but are not.He is terrific!

He arrived on the appointed day and targeted right in on the issue. Within an hour, the job was done. As an added bonus, he threw in some advice on my dishwasher. Steve's honest, straight-forward, no-nonsense approach to his work, as well as his expertise are what makes him superior to other repair shops. I'm glad I found him.

I was relieved because I had thought it might be a bigger problem. Steve called back the next day to inquire whether I was satisfied. I told him of a problem that bothered me. He came back andmade a small adjustment,. The refrigerator is working well.. I think his service was excellent, he explained everything clearly, and his price was reasonable. + -1 moreMy Whirlpool refrigerator was not cooling properly. It was actually downright hot inside. I searched Angieslist and found Steve, who had gotten many previous A ratings and who was quite nearby to my home. I left Steve a message in the very early morning and he returned my call a few hours later in the late morning. We made an appointment for 4 p.m. and he was right on time. It took him approximately 15 minutes to examine, diagnose and actually fix the problem, which was a non-functioning evaporator fan in the freezer compartment. Luckily, he had the exact replacement fan needed in his truck, so the repair was done on the spot. By the next day, my refrigerator was at the proper temperature for safe food storage and I felt safer (who wants to eat iffy food?). Steve showed me the defective motor he had removed. He advised me to toss any perishables because their having been stored in a warm refrigerator made them possibly unsafe to eat. He gave me a receipt with a one-year warranty on his work, and hung a Steve magnet on the door of the newly-repaired refrigerator, which made me laugh. I found Steve to be very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable about his trade. I wouldn't hesitate to call him again if I have any other major appliance problems.
Description of Work: Food was obviously not being chilled any longer in my refrigerator. I called Steve. He found that the evaporator fan was not functioning and needed a new motor. He had the exact motor needed in his truck. He installed the motor and restored the proper functioning of my refrigerator.
