Steve's Appliance Repair

Came over a few hours after we called, figured out the problem, and did the repair. Thanks, Steve!

After checking out our refridgerater, Steve told us that it wasn't worth it to fix it as it would probably break down again in a month or 2. He recommended purchase of a new appliance and put us in touch with a wholesaler. He also went over and above and got an extra fridge from his home to use as a "loaner" until our new refridgerater could be delivered. We were very impressed.

Steve arrived in the morning as previously arranged the evening before. He manage to get the fridge out, it is in a tight spot, and replaced the ice maker. Before leaving he wanted to make sure that it was working properly and water was coming through. The water wasn't coming through because of sediment built up in the water line. Steve needed to put in a valve for the water line, he had to go back to his truck, which was half a block away because of work being done in the street no cars were able to enter or leave the street till later in the afternoon, to get the parts he needed. He manage to get the water valve in, and the water running through the line. He had to spend about an hour to complete the job which normally may have taken less because of the difficulty in getting the valve in. The ice maker was working by the time he finished and was ready to leave.

After years of working perfectly fine, my refrigerator began to freeze everything that was placed into it--not just the items in the freezer. This happened even when placed on the lowest setting. I saw the reviews for Steve's Appliance Repair and called. Steve answered promptly and said that he would try to arrive that day but mentioned that he was very busy that morning. He took my number and said he would call back later in the day. When he called back, he said he was on his way. He quickly diagnosed the problem and made some suggestions that he felt might remedy the problem without the need to order a new part. He said to give it a couple of days and if the problem persisted, he would order the part. Steve called me the next day & the day after that to inquire of the status. By that time, the refrigerator was again operating normally. Steve's suggestions saved me the added expense of purchasing a new part. Steve demonstrated a high level of customer focus. He was prompt, helpful, honest and informative. I would definitely use his services again.

He charged me less than normal house call since he lives nearby. Was prompt and professional. Finishished the task quickly. Told me if any future problems would apply payment already made. Highly recommend!

Steve came over the same day I called and quickly figured out what the problem was, which was the thermostat needed to be replaced. He then checked my washing machine and found out that the spindle was stripped and not providing any type of agitation to the washing cycle, with the result being the clothes were not getting very clean. I am quite pleased with how detailed Steve is and thankful he discovered this other problem, which I would not have known was going on.

Steve tried many different strategies to try and get the machine working again. Ultimately, it seemed the motor was shot and replacing it would not necessarily fix all the machine's problems. My family and I decided that we needed a new washer. Steve recommended that we invest in an older fashioned make and model, not a computerized machine. He was able to get one for us the next day, at what seemed to be a reasonable cost. The new machine is almost exactly like our old one and Steve came after it was delivered and installed it. I am very happy with Steve, his service and the new washing machine. I would encourage anyone who needed an appliance repaired, to call Steve.

Steve responded very quickly to the initial call and then set up an appointment at the desired time for the very next morning. He diagnosed the problem with a GE dishwasher which was over a dozen years old. GE would have charged close to $200 just for a service visit, then the cost of parts plus labor (service fee would have been a credit). I checked Angie's List to find someone and Steve was so highly rated we could not consider using anyone else. We were VERY pleased we used him. Aside from being a total professional and charging a very reasonable fee, his work is also covered by a one year warranty! Try getting that from any other service provider! Now, there is another point to make. This is a point which not every reader of this review will think is relevant, but some might think it is very important, as we did. The repair was for my 94 year old mother-in-law and the dishwasher in her apartment. We have all heard stories about elderly people being taken advantage of by service people and others in one way or another. Although my mother-in-law had her aide in the apartment, neither my wife nor I would be there at the time of the service call. Steve was unbelievably patient and kind. He explained exactly what the problem was, what he was going to do, did it, and told them what to do in the future.

I called and left a message for Steve the evening before and explained that my refrigerator was defrosting. He returned my call and said he would come to my home early the next morning and that the service call was $75.00. He called me in the morning to say he was on his way. He tested the two parts that feed the condenser and explained that one of them needed to be replaced. He said he wasn't sure if his supplier had it in stock and if not he would would have the part on Monday. He asked if I had another refrigerator, which I did. Steve called me a few hours later, that he had the part and would return to my home later that same day to complete the repair. He called later on to say he was on his way. Steve completed the repair. The refrigerator began working. He asked me to telephone him the next morning to let him know how the refrigerator is functioning. I left my home early the next morning. Whe I returned, he had left 2 messages to find out if the refrigerator was working well.

Called Steve at about 11am Friday morning regarding a refrigerator that was not working. He returned my message with 15 minutes and was at my door in less than 2 hours. He repaired the refrigerator using manufacturer parts and for a very fair price. He was courteous, prompt and efficient. I would absolutely call him again should the need arise and will recommend him to friends.

When I first contacted Steve on Saturday regarding the breakdown of my washing machine, he informed me that he was away for a couple of days but would speak to me on Monday. He was then able to come to my home the very same day he returned to work. Prior to coming, he called to ask me in detail about the problem and to inform me that he would be charging $50.00 for the visit and the diagnosis of the problem, and that subsequently if any work had to be done, that he would deduct the $50.00 from the total cost of the repair. upon arrival, he attempted to alleviate the problem (no agitation and spin cycle), and performed some minor work in an attempt to do so. After this did not remedy the problem, he suggested that the repair, if related to the electrical system of the machine, would be too costly and not worth fixing. When faced with the possibility of needing a new machine in a hurry, I asked if he could recommend a good one, and he willingly obliged with the suggestion of a highly rated model from a different company. Just before leaving, he also told me that once in a while these newer machines like mine sometimes needed a resetting of the electrical system and that there was a chance it might function again. After he left, I called tech support at GE and was told how to reset the machine. When I spoke to Steve the following day, he said that the minor repair he had done would prevent me from doing the reset, so he volunteered to return to my home on Wednesday to undo his work and give it one more try. He showed up again, undid his repair attempt, reset the electrical panel as directed by GE, and was able to get the machine operating again. He did not ask for any further payment for this second visit, after going out of his way to make sure we didn't leave any stone unturned. I think that shows his honesty and integrity...things that are unfortunately often missing in business these days.

Steve was very professional and has impeccable character -- he was honest that the problems had simple fixes and he did NOT overcharge me; he did NOT try to sell me any expensive parts; he just installed the appliances properly. The refrigerator was leaking because the internal components were not installed properly, and the dishwasher was missing a small piece to secure a high loop (to prevent backflow of sink waste water into the dishwasher) -- simple fixes but it requires knowledge about how the appliances are supposed to work, and it means all the difference between the appliance working properly or not. The dishwasher problem was a subtle one because even though it was operational, it had not been installed exactly according to the instructions. Now, the appliances work the way they were designed to work, and I didn't need to replace anything. Steve was also very friendly, and gave helpful advice on other issues. Exceptional service once again!

This guy is the best. He called about 45 minutes before our appointment to let me know he would be there on time, and then showed up exactly as promised. Professional, no time for BS -- he got right down to business. Last week I had a different vendor perform a pressure test on my gas system. That guy forgot to turn the dryer as valve back on. Steve came in, diagnosed that the igniter and thermostats were not the problem, and quickly saw that the valve was turned off. He charged me only for the "service call". Others might have replaced the igniter or timer needlessly. He was prompt, pleasant, professional, and most importantly... HONEST. 10 out of 10 for Steve... and 10 out of 10 for Angie's List.

The presence of a repairman in my house always causes fear and anxiety. I know that I'll be cheated and overcharged, often, paying an entrance fee with no semblance of repair at the end and no consideration for the work which I requested be done with additional charges thrown in. This is simply not the experience that comes when Steve enters my home. I've never had a repairman/contractor who showed such care and concern for the work which I wish to have done. He insures that I understand exactly what needs to be done and how much my bottom line cost will be. He answers all questions completely and includes any problems which may come up if another repairman will need to be called in. His honesty is absolutely complete. After 10 minutes, I knew why the repair to my refrigerator was an unreasonable decision and exactly which replacement was my very best decision. The level of care which he showed was greater than anything I could ever have anticipated. Steve made sure that I would be confident and able to avoid being taken care of. He helped in every way so that the old refrigerator was cleared out and prepared to be removed from the house (we never had an agreement for him to do this, he simply did it to help make my life easier - which it did, made my life much easier). Steve worked hard and long, without throwing in additional charges, making sure that the surfaces were prepared, frequently asking me questions to make sure that I would be pleased with the results. I was so happy with the work which had been done. Everything was exactly as I wanted it to look and I was prepared to get exactly what would make me happy with the results. I have never been so pleased with the work done in my home. It was clean and showed a true concern for the work which I wanted to see at home. I cannot recommend him highly enough, he is a gentleman and a caring person. He is a caring man of the very highest degree. Thank you for helping us find him. Steve is the most helpful person who has ever worked in my house. Thank you so much.

We called Steve in regards to our Maytag washing machine not draining water, and he promptly returned our phone call and even came to our home the same day. He briefly assessed the machine and identified the problem immediately. He explained what the issue was, showed us the broken part, and promptly ordered a new one. Two days later he contacted us that the part was in and came the same day to install it. My family has been using Steve for years, and will continue to use him for many years to come due to his impeccable service, knowledge, and fair prices.

Even though his description on Angie's List says "Specializing in all major appliances repairs", he does not repair LG appliances. He should change the description to "Specializing in all major appliances repairs, except LG". Very misleading.

Steve was amazingly accommodating. He had initially recommended one type of dishwasher but I went on line and chose a different one. He was able to get it, deliver it, and remove the old one for about $50 more than the origiinal cost of the washer I saw on line. He was pleasant, efficient, returned all phone calls imediately, and got the job done within a week of my calling him. He had been to see me once before for a repair and explaiined what he had done and taught me how to fix it myself. This guy is a real gem.

My old Maytag washing machine was leaking when filling up with water. Always had to mop up after a wash. Steve came out as agreed on time. Took panels off and found problem immediately. Fixed washer and left space spotless. Very professional and courteous. Pleasure to do business with him. HIGHLY RECOMMEND his services.

Steve took my call right away and arranged for same day service. He arrived within the promised time window, repaired the refrigerator promptly, and gave a warranty. Steve made the effort to make me a satisfied customer.

I don't remember, except I would have no reluctance to use him again.

I chose Steve based on his excellent Angie's List record. I called Steve in the AM on Friday, and he came the very same day before noon. That alone was amazing. He was friendly and got right to work and diagnosed the problem. He asked me if I wanted it fixed right away, I agreed, and he got right to work. He had the needed parts on his truck. He worked carefully and skillfully. When he was done he cleaned up and explained carefully to me what he had done and why. Steve is now my "go-to" appliance guy. His magnet is on my fridge now. Update - Steve also called a few days later to check if the fridge was still working. Very professional! This guy is a mensch.

My frig has a leak for over 3 months due to clogged drain pipe. Found Steve on angie's list. First spoke with Steve, sounded like he had a busy schedule, so we were on an open appointment, so he called and came over when he was in my area. Steve took the time to explain where the problem and quickly addressed the issue. He was fast, knowledgeable and professional and wouldn't mind using him in the future for other appliance repairs or referring to a friend.

Called Steve this morning, we arranged a time that was convenient for me, and he showed up a few minutes early which was good. Promptly diagnosed the problem and fixed it. No monkeying around with needing parts or it might be this or that. And for a very fair price. Very happy with his service, very professional and competent.
