Steve was very honest in his diagnosis of the leaking problem. He tightened the connections and tube fittings and charged minimally where other servicemen would have padded the bill. He was very professional and we certainly would use his services again.

Steve arrived right on time. He looked at the fridge. He knew what was wrong and repaired it. This is my elderly mother's fridge. Steve gave her a good senior discount. Steve was very helpful and personable. I would call him again with no hesitation.

When our dishwasher started overflowing I immediately called Steve, who called me right back. He checked the machine and needed to get back at another date to complete the repair. He was very careful to remind us to take out any dishes or food scraps that might have accumulated so that we didn't end up growing anything inside. I had to wait 2 weeks to call him back because we were going out of town and I'm really glad he gave us that advice! I called Steve when we got back - he was VERY prompt in returning my call. I wasn't home when he completed the work but he communicated with me by phone AND continued to follow up with me to make sure his fixed work. At all times - he is professional, pleasant, and VERY informative about what he does. I recommend him very highly.

My side-by-side refrigerator had been warming up --- rather quickly, as soon as spring arrived and the humidity increased. Freezer was fine, but the refrigerator compartment was warm. I called Steve (Thursday) and he arrived that afternoon, exactly on time. He quickly diagnosed the problem, ordered the necessary part, and put the refrigerator back in working order for the weekend. He returned Tuesday afternoon to install the new part, which required another manual defrost (by Monday the refrigerator was getting warm again, a problem I solved temporarily by putting a large pan of ice on the top shelf). A day later the refrigerator is working as good as new. Steve also gave me some suggestions on a few other things I'd been wanting to fix --- his advice was spot on and far faster than what I'd been contemplating.

He came on a Saturday and cleaned out my vent and replaced the old plastic vent with metal flex duct. He made sure it was blowing properly and called me a few hours later to make sure it was working ok. I am also using him again to fix another appliance in my home.
Description of Work: My dryer was not working properly, he came and said it was more likely the vent than the dryer.

2015/05/29 It is not the first time that we call Steve to fix appliances, based on the reviews he has, and the experience we have with his services. I called him this time for a dishwasher issue, and since I also had a non-critical but annoying issue with the refrigerator/freezer, I took the opportunity to submit it to him too. The dishwasher was not washing very well, and the upper rack was not cleaning at all. When Steve heard the issue, he knew exactly and right away the likely culprit, and methodically went about it. His guess was a 'bull's eye". The culprit was a damaged "dirt breaker" in the bottom of the dishwasher, preventing the water to circulate properly during the washing (missing grinding blades and dirt). After the fix, it works better (almost as new) and more silently. He also offered his advice about avoiding the issue in the future, such as 'cleaning' the dishes before the dish-washing. (we could see the kind of dirt that was there). Cost $120.00 I asked him about the refrigerator issue, since he was in. He proposed to do it during another session (longer job and unplanned job, since I had not mentioned it during my tel call). Since it was not critical, and not an emergency, we agreed. 1 week later, he came and took care of the issue: - issue : Recent fridge (about 1.5 year old) started to leak some water on the floor , every 2 weeks (the bypass was to eliminate the accumulated hard ice in the bottom of the freezer about every 10 days). Again Steve knew the exact cause, considers it a chronic default of some "Maytag" fridges. After having seen him fix it, I totally agree with his opinion, and I consider it a "faulty design". he unclogged the frozen drain, inserted a piece to keep the drain warm during "de-freesing", allowing the water to drain rather than freeze and clog, and removing the rubber part which probably triggered the whole phenomenon. Though he could have left the accumulated dirty water resulting from the melt in the evaporator, he removed it. Repair cost $210.00 (a lot of time was spent in accessing the proper areas and melting the accumulated ice). Steve is pleasant and polite. Steve is extremely logical and efficient in his approach. He carries the tools that he needs for his job, even if unconventional. He leaves things in a clean state. He will also offer his advice about your appliance and its issue if you are interested in it and willing to hear it. He also made sure that the things were working after he left (though we will have to wait for 2 weeks to confirm the fix of the water leak). Note: He will not violate parking rules, or double-park. He seems to appreciate when there is available parking on the block, or on the drive-way (true only during week-ends in our neighbourhood). Sergey
Description of Work: 2 different jobs on 2 different dates: - Kitchen-Aid Dishwasher issue (upper rack does not clean) cost $120.00 - Maytag fridge : water leak + ice in bottom of freezer : cost $210.00

I had no idea how to turn off the water, so the situation was pretty desperate. Had i called a whirlpool service person, I probably would have been swimming in the kitchen before i could get an appointment. Anyway, Steve came right away, turned off the water, and got into the back of the fridge. It appeared it needed a new part that he said he would order. When the part came in, he came over to install it and realized that, even with the water back on, it was no longer leaking. Instead of installing the part that apparently was now not needed, he told me to just watch it for the next few days, and if it wasn't leaking, he'd return the part--saving me over $200. He also showed me where to turn off the water so I would know for the future. I appreciated his response time, his professionalism, and his honesty.
Description of Work: My fridge was pouring out water from the bottom, so much so that it was dripping into the basement. I called Steve, left a message, and he called me right back...even before 9am. He rearranged his schedule in order to help me out and came over within the hour.

Steve was very personable, and professional throughout the experience. He also shared knowledge as it concerned extending warranties on my washer although that wasn't part of the repair sequence. I deeply appreciate his advice, and put it into good use. I was completely satisfied with the work he did to restore my dryer to function the way it it should. He explained the steps he would take, and executed flawlessly. I give him my highest recommendation for expediency, professionalism, also the price was far less than I had anticipated. My purchase of the washer and dryer were approximately two months old, Steve's due diligence save me from having to purchase again. Thanks Steve.

Not only did Steve know what was wrong just by what we described over the phone, he showed up with the right part. After fixing the fridge, he even vacuumed the coils on the fridge and gave us a detailed explanation of what to expect over the next 24 hours. Five months later, the fridge is working great. Very knowledgeable, very professional, would definitely call him again if there's any trouble.

We have an vintage "Coppertone Brown" fridge that's still - mostly - serving us well. It's a no-frost that's been collecting ice at the bottom for a while. After de-icing it yesterday, the unit completely stopped cooling. Power was going to it but the fridge and freezer were warm. We called Steve around 2:30 this afternoon and he has already been here and gone (it's 5:30pm) and the unit is now working like new. I'm thrilled with Steve's service for a couple of reasons - he answered our call right away and made (and KEPT) an appointment with us for the same day. But also because his first thoughts were that we needed a new cooling motor and fan. The price was more than fair - $200 including his service call. However, he charged us only $125 because, once he looked at the motor closely, he realized we only needed the fan, not the entire motor. He could have replaced the whole thing, and we wouldn't have known the difference. Within 40 minutes he had not only replaced the fan and had the unit working but he also cleared a clog that was causing the ice to build up at the bottom of the freezer. We were extremely satisfied and highly recommend Steve's Appliance Repair. I should add... the reason I contacted Steve's in the first place was because of his Angie's List rating. With such an old unit, I didn't know who to contact and Angie's List made it easy. Win-win for us.

Steve was very punctual and he followed up with phone calls to let us know he was on the way to my mother's house. She needed her dryer repaired and there was no heat to dry the clothes. He went to her house, diagnosed the situation, called us on the phone and gave us the price. It was most reasonable and we told him to go ahead and do the job. He gave us the convenience and was extremely flexible to go to our own house so we can pay him. He is very personable, respectful, kind, fare and most knowledgeable with appliance repairs of all kinds and we most definitely will use him again in the future. In addition, I am recommending him to all my friends, family and acquaintances. I highly recommend for you to use Steve's Appliance Repair for your appliance repair needs at home. It is far cheaper than buying a whole new refrigerator, washer or dryer. My mother is disabled and my wife and I both work so it was difficult for us to be at mom's house at the time and Steve came to the rescue.

He performed certainly to our satisfaction. I charged us $160 and he gave us a receipt which says parts and labor. However, on this receipt I don't know what his part costs because it's not listed. I do not know what the labor charge was because it's not listed, I do not know what the discount was because what the gentleman said was that he gave us 10% but we had to pay in cash. He may have given us an excellent price which to me we are senior citizens on fixed income so price and a person doing a good job are the most important things to call a service person in, the rest of it is it's nice but it's not essential. Within less than 24 hours he was here and he came on a Sunday.

It went well. Originally he said he would come on a Thursday to look at the machine, he called Wednesday and said he was available to come. After he saw the problem he said with the holiday approaching (Easter) he may not be able to get to us until next week. That was fine with us. Again, he surprised us with an earlier date. He called Saturday morning and said he could come by and fix the machine. He came and repaired the machine in no time at all. He is professional, as well as personable. He fixed the machine and even called afterward to ensure it was working properly. I would definitely recommend him and use his services again.
Description of Work: Our washing machine stopped working years ago. We tried in the past to find repairmen and hadn't been successful. Steve scheduled an appointment to come see the machine and give an estimate. After diagnosing the cause of the machine not working he explained the cost and gave an estimate of when to expect the service to be completed.

I got a GE wall oven unit that decided to quit on me, I found Steve's number after the appliance repair guy (refer by a friend) didn't show. Setup an appointment over the phone with him was easy and he came on time later that night around 7:30pm He quickly diagnose the problem and the bottom ignite unit need to be replace. He quote me a fair price and he proceed the work. As he pulled out the old ignite unit, he discover the wires behind it were also burned. He notify me the problem and we reach agreement for him to come back and took the whole unit off the wall and do the job right. unfortunately the price went up due to extra work but its still a fair price for the extra work. He came back to finish the work ( again he is on time ), Took the whole unit off the wall, open it up and replace the faulty wires. The whole process was done quickly and professionally. My wife will be happy to get her oven back in working order, and I am happy that we eliminated a potential fire hazer. I would highly recommend anyone about Steve's service and I would use his service for my appliance repair needs.

I called Steve late afternoon on Mon and by Tues 11AM he was at my house making the repair. He was professional and courteous (dealing with my elderly mom who was home at the time). Most importantly fixed my problem in the most cost effective and honest way possible. My dryer knob stripped which of course made my dryer unusable because I could not initiate any settings. At least that's what I suspected the problem was. I could have been told otherwise..... Within 15 minutes of arriving at my house, Steve called me to let me know that the problem of the broken knob was repaired. Here is where I give kudos to Steve, will definitely call on him for my appliance repairs from now on and would certainly recommend him: Steve could have told me there was no other way but to order a new knob for the $40-$50 and a new timer for an additional cost of almost $200. Instead, he took a knob we weren't using from the same dryer (that which controlled the loudness of dryer buzzer) and installed it to replace the stripped knob. For me this was the best solution because I have no need to change the loudness setting of the buzzer but I could certainly use the $200-$250 Steve saved me!! And I didn't miss doing one day of laundry (lucky me!). I thank you Steve

I have used Steve before and called him back for my dryer problem. He diagnosed and fixed it quickly. He did not try to "milk it " and push up the bill. He did inform me of issues that may come down the road and what to do to be mindful of them. He could have made it seem I had to do the work immediately and bill for it. I have used him in the past, present and will use him in the future if needed. Highly recommend.
