Steve's Appliance Repair

Steve is used to working on short lead times. So we scheduled an approximate service date the week prior (3 day window) and then he called me to schedule an exact day and time the week of the service call. Steve arrived promptly and assessed the job. Because the microwave was located in a particularly tight spot, Steve added an additional 20 dollars to the estimated job cost. Still, however, the price for the work was extremely reasonable. The finished product was very neat, the installation expertly executed and Steve even took extra care to clean up after he was finished and bring the old appliance to the building basement. I would highly recommend Steve for anyone's appliance needs.

It went well. He did the work on a weekend.

I actually tried to fix this myself. I bought a new start knob and replaced the old one. The dryer still did not start. That's when I went to Angie's list to look for a repairman. I called Steve. He came the same day. It turned out that it was another part that wasn't working. It just so happened that Steve had that part in his car. Replaced the part and the dryer works. The best service I ever got.

It was a difficult model which is why the delivery men did not want to do it. Steve was able to do it for us. All went well.

He came to see what the problem was, ordered the parts ,and came back some days later to do the repair. When he opened the machine he found out that another part was needed. He went to get it and came back the same day to finish the job.

Called Steve and left a message. He called back in a few minutes. He was on another job and came over right over. Excellent work. Top-notch service.

Steve installed the part but since the oven did not work, he did not charge for his time. When the next Sears tech came, he said the wrong piece had been ordered and ordered 3 new pieces. I would much prefer to use Steve over Sears since he accommodates the customer's schedule and arrives on time. He is also the only one who noticed that only one screw needed to be removed from each oven dial panel to remove the front stove piece. This is not even his product. He has repaired my appliances in the past and came to repair a dryer on the day he was leaving for vacation. I would recommend Steve for any appliance repair even if it is under warranty. I have lost too much time and pay waiting for techs.

We called Steve at 8:30 am this morning for a leak that seemed to be coming from the dishwasher. Steve said he would come at 10am and he came at 10am. Steve diagnosed the source of the leak under the sink, contained it, identified the parts needing to be replaced, and advised us how much it should cost for a plumber to fix. Steve has helped us several times before; he was always punctual, and has saved us money with his advice and professionalism. We won't hesitate to call him again in future.

I called Steve and described the issue. He provided a quote and let me know when he would be able to make it to my home in Jackson Heights, NY. He prefers to come on the weekend to this area, so that is something folks should be aware if they are in a pinch and can't wait a day or two. I was happy to wait for someone that had a solid record of positive reviews and reputation as a straight shooter. Steve let me know the time window, called to confirm, and then called when he was about 10 minutes away. He arrived on time. He quickly got the area ready, verified we had power to the ignitor before working on the new piece -- made sure we had a good chance of success and not waste a part. He proceeded to make the repair and gave some advice for how to not have it fail again (stop using the self cleaning function which wears it out fast). I asked him about an issue with the ice maker as well, he diagnosed the problem on the spot and let me know what it would cost to fix. The service was done with professionalism and friendly banter/engagement/advice. It was a pleasure to have him in the house and I would certainly use him again. We have all heard so many horror stories about the service trades in NYC. When you find someone that is a straight shooter, gets the job done right and at a reasonable price it is a huge relief! Thanks Angies List for pointing me in the right direction! Totally worth the price of admission.

Steve showed up on time. He was able to diagnose the problem, give informative feedback and fix the problem.

Steve, evaluated the problem quickly & repaired the issues with no nonsense or up-sell. Bottom line job done right. I would recommend and use him again.

As usual Steve was fabulous. This was my mother-in-law's range, and she had actually already ordered a new range when I told her to call Steve. He came, gave her the estimate, and constantly called to apprise her of the time it was taking for the order to come in. He called her before coming and installed the part and the oven works beautifully. Steve is the most reliable, honest repairman I have ever used, and I continue to recommend him to whomever I can!

Just talked on phone about the job; didn't want to hire because he only wanted cash payment. But the detailed listing didn't indicate that, there was picture of personal check.

Call Steve first!! Steve always comes through....called, he calls back...service...done deal with a smile. This is the fifth time I use Steve and will continue to call him for my repairs. Steve knows his craft and does it well. Very reasonable cost. The stove was connected to a burned out outlet and the washing machine needed a new clutch. Thanks to Steve I am back in business.

Despite everything that could go wrong go wrong with this installation, Steve was able to get the job done with a satisfactory installation of an over the range microwave. Steve came over on a Sunday (on time) and was able to manage a difficult installation. Despite the size being too big, and the older microwave being installed rather poorly, Steve was able to quickly diagnose the issues and addressed them appropriately and creatively, when needed. I would use Steve's services again and recommend him highly to others. He was professional, friendly, and helped the consumer understand the project details as he worked.

Steve is an extremely friendly fellow. He is honest and reliable. He took my call right away, told me when i could expect him to come to check the dishwasher, called to confirm, and showed up promptly once the appointment was made. Although no repair was needed, he stayed to make sure the dishwasher was working properly. In addition, he gave me great advice about getting an annual home warranty service plan. I have been googling them, and have found a couple that look good. Thanks Steve!

All I can say is this guy is old school.If you want honesty and integrity along with a job well done then Steve is your guy.

Very precise and efficient. Told me on phone the price for visit that would go toward the work if done. Came and located problem immediately and gave me estimate. Very reasonable. He had the replacement piece in his van, so fixed the problem in a matter of minutes. Very efficient. All the while, he was pleasant, very friendly, courteous, and clean. Couldn't be happier. Will definitely recommend.

Steve called when he said he would and came to the house on time and fixed our dishwasher. What stands out was and is his honesty. He tells you the cost and how long it will take. This is not my first time using his services and I recommend him to anyone that want a good job at a realistic price. The highest of recommendations for an honest gentleman.

Excellent service. Came to fix problem the same day I called. Showed me a "home remedy" to address the problem if it ever happens again vs. selling me parts/services that I didn't need. I have used this provider in the past and would call him again if ever I needed repair service. Honest, reliable, fairly priced.

Steve was exceptional. He fixed my washing machine within minutes. His response time was impeccable and he was very courteous. I highly recommend his services.

Steve was busy on a job when I called and asked if he could return my call. He returned the call and we played telephone tag, i.e. he called me back and I was not home. Then I called him back and he was busy on a job but called me back. This happened again and this time, when he called me back at about 9:30 this morning, I answered the call. He said he'd call about noon the same day. He called at 11:40AM and said he was on his way. Arrived at 12:20 and got right to work diagnosing the problem. He found the bad solenoid valve and went to his truck to see if he had on. He did not have the exact part but had a better one, with which he replaced the valve. It now works. He was punctual, professional, and persevered in trying to establish contact and help with my problem. The cost was reasonable, both in the cost quoted to come out and look at the problem and the final total cost for coming and having the work done. I would certainly use him again.

Arrived promptly. Found problem immediately and was able to fix it. Dryer working very well now. Steve was very professional and knowledgeable. We couldn't ask for more.

Fantastic. Steve was straightforward about the repair and explained everything as he was doing it. He was prompt and efficient. In and out in under an hour. Would definitely use him again.

He immediately checked the electric service to the stove to be sure I was getting full 220 power. Reset the stove by powering it off and on and died the same with the associated circuit breaker. That worked and the stove was back in business. However, if it became necessary, he was prepared to order a motherboard for the stove if the power resets didn't work. He said it might not work even at that, but that we would split the cost and the risk (because he would have to keep the motherboard if it did not work and he would never likely use it for another call.) This was to save what could other wise be a VERY expensive repair which. Luckily, his preliminary interventions were successful. Steve has done other repairs for me on my refrigerators. He is honest, competent and professional. He does not oversell work. Just the opposite. He often counsels that some repairs are not worth doing. He will tell you his estimate and you can decide whether you want to proceed or to purchase a new appliance (which he does NOT sell). He charges a reasonable service fee to comet to your home and diagnose. He comes with all the tools needed to diagnose problems. If you decide to have him make the repair, the service fee goes toward the cost of the repair. In an industry with too many dubious providers, Steve is reliable and trustworthy.
