(This was done some 3 yrs ago so the date is approximate and I'm recalling what happened as best as I can) At first, I think I heard him say Uh Oh, so I thought my pipe had leaks and that means big job (big expense). I said to him please don't scare me. He continued testing and eventually gave me a passing report for my utility company to turn the gas back on. I'm giving him high marks because his price was reasonable. He called me promptly and he was punctual. He had a very clean van. I still don't know if my gas pipe ever had a leak because only I smelled a faint odor but no one else seemed to notice it. I might hire him again if his price is still competitive, but I would really prefer a plumber who is more inclined to explain what he is doing without the homeowner feeling unsure if he wants you to ask questions while he's working. I initially found him on CraigsList, and he stood out because he posted his license # with his photo.
Description of Work: Tested for leaks in gas pipe -- by using water & hand pump to see if bubbles show.

Mr. Farr spent like a little over an hour at our home completing all four tasks. He did it quickly and professionally. The stove now looks great (now at about one inch from the wall) and the kitchen finally looks normal. Before finding Mr. Farr, I had a contractor come in to take a look at the stove. The guy told me that it couldn't be done and instead, he wanted to build a partition with tiles around it. We are so glad that we called Mr. Farr to do the job. If we had gone with the first guy, our stove would permanently be protruding out WAY passed the counter top which would make the kitchen look less attractive overall. Do the right thing and call an expert (because you might find someone cheaper BUT it doesn't necessarily mean that the results are going to be better). We definitely recommend Mr. Farr!! You can tell by the way he works that he has a lot of experience and knows what he's doing.
Description of Work: My fiance and I bought a place and later found out that the previous owners used unlicensed contractors for EVERYTHING. I mean, before we bought the place, we checked everything we needed to check and even hired a professional home inspector to see if the home was in good condition. However, who checks for things like this: (1) The toilet was not mounted into the bathroom floor. My fiance accidentally leaned on it with his back while messing with the radiator in front of it, and the whole toilet had moved. We didn't even know about it until we had a leak and a puddle of toilet water sitting in our bathroom. (2) The 'hot' and 'cold' pipes were reversed in the kitchen sink (not a big issue, just tedious). (3) The kitchen stove was not flush to the wall. From what I can remember, the stove looked horrible because it was at least 5 inches from the wall, leaving a giant gap that can potentially cause problems in the future such as water or food falling behind the stove. We knew about the stove before we bought the place, but did not know about the other two issues. Mr. Farr charges for coming in to give you a quote, so definitely ask how much beforehand. However, if you decide to use him, you can deduct it from the total cost. Coming in and giving us a quote cost us $60. We initially called him just to set the stove flush to the wall (which required cutting and resetting gas pipes). Our quote for this job was $240. Just a couple of days before our appointment with him, we found out about the other two issues. So, after Mr. Farr was done with the stove (which only took about 25 minutes), we asked him if he could take a look at the toilet. He is very nice and patient with his customers. He did not seem to be bothered with additional on-the-spot jobs. He fixed the problem with the toilet (which cost us $220) in about another 25 minutes. Now, we have no more leaks and the toilet is the way it should be (sturdy). We thought his prices were a bit on the pricey side at first, but he reversed the 'hot' and 'cold' pipes in the kitchen sink for free. Plus, we also asked him to take a quick look at the bathroom sink. I was washing my hands in the bathroom one day while my fiance was using the kitchen sink and for some reason, the water went from warm to burning hot in one second to the next. He kindly opened up the cold water valve a little more (again, free of charge). The water still does get suddenly hot from time to time but not as hot as it did before (not enough to burn skin).
