I was originally there just to get the connector for the ipod but they talked my husband into getting the remote starter. I really should have done my homework before the purchase but my husband wanted to get it for Christmas so I agreed. After the installation everything seemed great until a few weeks later the remote lock and unlock started to work sporadically then not at all. So I took it back as soon as I could for their 1st attempt at fixing it. I waited for 4 hours! They claimed it was a bad unit and said they replaced it & showed me that it worked, I thought great. A few days later the remote lock and unlock button stopped working again. I should say it would only work if I remotely started the car first, then lock and unlock worked. That should not be. You should be able to unlock the car without having to start it. I didn't have the time to get to Avenue Sound (they close before I get home from work) so I lived with it until I could get my car back into them a few weeks later. In the mean time, I connected my ipod to the cable they installed it and it too stopped working. It was not registering the ipod at all. So... I took it back again (2nd try). My husband came both times with me - we again waited 4 hours for them to say that the ipod cable in the back came loose and fell off (??) and the remote starter must have been a bad kit so they replaced the whole thing including the remotes. A few days later the remote starter worked ok but again the lock and unlock buttons still didn't work! A few weekends later and getting frustrated I took it back... again (3rd try). We waited, yet again the standard 4 hours for them to say it was fixed. Each time they tested it - it works (not sure how) then a few days later - stops working. The ipod connector now works but shortly after the last visit some of dashboard lights are now out and my front speakers go on and off. Both times we went back when they brought the car out to give it back to us after having it for 4 hours one of the 2 functions wouldn't work, so it was back inside for another 30 minutes at least. You'd have thought they'd have checked both buttons before bringing it outside to say it was fixed. Just poor quality control. I found out a friend installed car accessories and asked him to look at it and he said the remote starter was a very bad brand (Compustar CS600) and the work that they did was very sloppy. He found tons of screws just laying around, wires everywhere and not connected properly. He said he didn't want to touch it unless I got a new remote kit and was able to start from scratch. I should have gone back to Avenue Sound but I didn't get the chance. Now it's too late to get it fixed. I'm out $200+ on a crappy remote start and no remote lock and unlock. If I had known this was going to be such an ordeal I would have just kept the keyless remote that came with the car not bothered with a remote start or... Gone somewhere else. VERY disappointed!! My advice : Go elsewhere. There are plenty of other people offering the same service and can't be any worse.
Description of Work: I had purchased car remote starter with remote lock and unlock installed on my car, as well as a ipod stereo connector replaced and installed (one that I had was old and broke after years of using it). The remote was a Compustar CS600 ($199 + installation) and I can't remember the ipod connector brand ($180 + installation). It connected directly to the factory stereo which allows you to control the ipod though the cars factory stereo. It also charges is as well.
