A Plus Towne Flooring

Went well from the start as Jon, the owner of Plus Towne made arrangements to come see the work I wanted done, the same day I called. Got the estimate quickly, and agreed to start within a couple days. Good sign number two, was Jon showing up on the first morning at the precise time he said he would. As he would do each day after that as well. Within the first half hour, the old carpeting and foam layer were ripped out, cut into pieces, rolled and taped, or placed into trash bags and neatly placed outside for sanitation. End of day one had living room and dining rooms completely sanded, and the wood floors transported back to their original condition, circa 1953. Second day, floors were stained and protected. The work in the kitchen began with the removal of 3 layers of floor: two wooden, and one out of date linoleum tiled. As there was no original wood floor in the kitchen, we decided to leave in original flooring and use a re-engineered wood overlay. As we had not prepared for this, Jon drove me over to a local supplier. Because of Jon's relationship, we were able to take home a few pieces of the wood flooring to see how it looked. In the end, it was a great choice and the kitchen floor looks terrific. I Would like to give a shout out to Jon's worker, Daniela. From the second he walked into the house each morning, he began to work. He did an excellent job in every aspect. And, each night, made valiant attempts to clean up the days work and dust. From start to finish the job took three and half days. Because of such an old kitchen floor, the job was much harder than it should have been, and yet the work was done well and efficiently. And, there wasn't any added cost because it was more difficult. Jon and Daniela ( I really hope I've spelled his name correctly ) also moved the furniture in each room back and forth to accommodate the work being done. I would recommend Jon and A Plus Towne without hesitation. In fact, I already have.

I had recently moved into a new home and installed an unfinished wood railing in the stairway where there previously was none. There was a small rail at the bottom of the stairs and a railing at the top of the landing that were existing. Jon was able to provide me with finish samples to match the existing stain and I was then able to select the color I thought matched best. Once that was finalized, Jon came to my home and prepared the rail for staining, taking great care to cover my newly installed wall covering. The large challenge that I had was that I am extremely sensitive to the chemicals and smell of the stains and finishing coat. Jon was able to use water based alternatives that left a very mild smell. The end result was beautiful, blended well with the existing, and didn't aggravate my sensitivity. I was very happy he was able to work around this.

After a disastrous move where a custom wall unit was badly damaged I called Jon Kaber, owner of Towne Finishing, to help in restoring the many doors and cabinets that in some cases had actually been gouged. Towne Finishing had actually finished the 9 pieces of the wall unit when originally built about ten years ago. Needless-to-say I was delighted to learn that Towne is still in business after so many years and that they are located near my new home. I can't tell you how delighted we are with the results. The furniture looks new. In fact, I have found several other pieces that I wasn't sure I wanted to use that I am seriously thinking of having refinished as Towne's pricing makes it very feasible.

We had burst water pipe damage in our kitchen and living room. Both beautiful bay windows, overlooking our garden, had substantial water damage. We hired someone to refinish the living room bay window. He neglected to put painter's tape around the window and while sanding he broke two large panes of glass. We were so disappointed, as we felt he wasn't qualified to complete the work. We paid him for his services to that point and hired Jon Kaber of Towne Finishing to complete the job. Mr. Kaber stripped, sanded and stained both bay windows. He completed the work expertly and promptly. Both windows came out looking like new. Friends raved about the quality of Jon's work and how beautiful the windows looked. We are planning to do more restoration work in the future and will gladly rehire Mr. Kaber.

The team at A Plus Towne Flooring did an excellent job for us. They accommodated our schedule, arrived on time and were very knowledgeable about flooring installation and finishing. John and his team are courteous and very professional. The pricing was fair and reasonable. John even gave us advice on how to care to floors in the future. I was very pleased with the work performed overall and would recommend and/or hire A Plus Towne again!!!

I was faced with a problem. My cherrywood kitchen cabinets were custom made and beautiful. Sadly, they were water damaged by burst pipes during this severely cold winter. I called a friend who had restoration work done on expensive inlaid wood antique furniture that she inherited. She raved about Jon Kaber, furniture refinisher at Towne Finishing. After contacting Mr. Kaber , I was impressed with his knowledge and experience of ways of restoring kitchen cabinets. The work was done expertly and promptly. I was so pleased that I highly recommend Mr. Kaber for future work.

A Plus Towne Flooring is an expert of woodworking and clearly explained the challenges of refinishing our floors. He provided a real world picture of the work at hand and not only met but exceeded our expectations. He was Professional and Courteous and always answered the difficult questions we had with patience. Other places we dealt with could not answer some of our questions in a way we felt was honest. No hidden agenda's with this contractor, quality work and a high level of service, thus a very satisfied customer.

he took all of our cabinet doors to his shop and refinished there. he mixed paint colors until i was happy with colors. it took several trials. he painted additional molding and outlets as well to match cabinets. It looks beautiful. we get so many compliments. it looks like we put in a brand new kitchen. very updated and fresh looking. Anyting we were not happy with he came back to fix. if a cabinet chipped he came back to touch up. right now just working on getting touch up paint for house so we can do our own touch ups.

He was VERY accommodating with my needs, he made a custom color for my flooring. Everything looks amazing and I cannot wait to work with him again.

Everything went fantastic. He gave me a fair price, the finish product looks amazing.

Our experience with Town Finishing was wonderful. Due to a previous disappointing encounter, and paint job by another company--John and his crew were hired to help fix our clients kitchen-- what was once an unsatisfactory paint job, is now aesthetically pleasing.

We have used A Plus Towne Flooring on multiple occasions, and have nothing but great things to say about John and his crew. Most recently we used them for staining a clients kitchen floor with a polyurethane finish. They are reliable, performed in a timely manner, and we were more than satified with the end result.

John Kaber and his crew did a good job. The outcome was perfect and was done within the time frame needed. i would recommend his services to anyone.

Jon does superb work and his interpersonal skills were excellent. I knew exactly what I was getting and how long it would tak. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

When we called in mid-April to get an exact start date, he would ignore our calls. When he finally did answer, he kept telling us he would have to get back to us with a start date. After a week of him telling us he would call us back and "didn't have his schedule in front of him" I finally told him either he scheduled us or we would be asking for our deposit back. We have holes in our floor, a baby on the way, and were planning on putting our house on the market as soon as the floor was complete in May. Finally he responded with a start date of May 17th, 2015, which was much later than we agreed upon and made us very upset. After he gave us a host of excuses, and already had half of our money, we said fine, this is your last chance. When the week of May 17th came, again, he started ignoring our calls and messages. I texted him to let him know the plumbers were scheduled to remove our radiators for the floor installation on 8am May 14th. He finally responded on May 13th at 11pm saying that we needed to cancel the plumbers for tomorrow because he would not be able to start the work on May 17th as promised, gave us more excuses, and told us that he would "be in touch". I told him this was unacceptable and we wanted our money back immediately. He said he would be in contact, once again, and never was. I told him he had until May 17th to return our money, or on May 18th I would be filing a complaint with small claims court. He never responded and so I had to file a complaint with small claims court. When he received his notice for court in the mail, he took us seriously and he finally returned our deposit. As a woman who is 5 months pregnant, it was an extremely scary and stressful time for myself and my husband. We are a young, hardworking couple living paycheck to paycheck. We didn't know if this man would ever return our money, and we still faced the original cost of replacing our very damaged hardwood floor. I cannot begin to describe what a horrible feeling this was for us.DO NOT use this company!!Luckily we found a wonderful new flooring company who estimated, delivered wood, and installed our gorgeous new floor within a week and a half.

Fabulous work. Jon and his team did an amazing job, and finished a full 2 days earlier than estimated. Jon is easy to work with, very knowledgeable and responsive. I highly recommend A Plus Towne flooring...We will certainly use them again in the future. And our floors look beautiful!! Lots of compliments already, and we've only been in the home for a couple of weeks!

ABSOLUTELY no problems or complaints with Jon and his crew. I called Jon on a Thursday afternoon and he arrived 30 mins. later...gave a very fair estimate. Jon even honored an Angie's List voucher that expired 2 years earlier... I purchased that voucher in Sept. 2012 (just before Hurricane Sandy). The guys were prompt and polite. They showed for work on Saturday morning at 8a.m and completely finished at 6p.m. Before work commenced, I would rate the condition of my floors a "3." After work completed, I would rate my floors a "9." To remove the embedded dirt, stains, scratches, gouges and general unevenness...the guys literally filled 2-32 gal.bags with sawdust. The innate imperfections of the original floor doesn't allow for a "10" rating, not the fault of A+ Towne Flooring. I expected to be inconvenienced for several days after completion, but it was more like several hours. The Commercial Water based finish was basically odorless and dried enough to walk on an hour after final application. I researched the products used by A+ Towne Flooring and found them to be highly rated. It's without a doubt I would use and recommend Jonathan's service again!

I must say that Jon, the owner, is a man of his word. (A dying breed.) His work is consistent and he is 100% trustworthy. (Again, a part of a dying breed.) What I appreciate most is that if something isn't correct or if there is a small detail that I am not happy or he isn't happy with, Jon always does his best to not only keep the budget and time constraints in mind but CARES enough to do the right thing. If he must, his men will work extra days and weekends, because he will go above and beyond to please me and my/his customer. His priority is the relations he builds with those he works with in the industry and his customer. As he is in high demand, I understand it can take several tries to get in touch. He is worth my having to work a bit to reach him, knowing he will work with the schedule I am in need of to the best of his abilities. I wish his crews worked midnight hours! His work and crew is neat, quiet, and respectful. I have to say in all honesty the A+ that is in their name is there for a reason, I give them an A+ or *****FIVE STARS all around!

The floor look great and the prices were competitive. The furniture is restored beautifully.

They came to my house and gave me an estimate to refinish the floors in three bedrooms. I was happy with the price they quoted me, so I called back a couple of days later to schedule an appointment. I was told they would call me back when they returned to the office later that day and could check their availability. Two days went by without a returned phone call, so I called again and was told the same thing - that they would call me back later that afternoon. It has now been almost two weeks and I still have not heard from them. I ended up hiring and have my floors refinished by another company instead.

John was polite and respectful and most importantly- returned phone calls. There were some areas that I was not happy with when the floors were done. I discussed them with John and all the floors received another coat of Polyurethane. I was very pleased with the service provided and would recommend this company to others.

First and foremost, John is a true gentleman. His professionalism is second to none. I brought John and his crew in to do my living room, hallway, dining room and kitchen floors (plus a couple of closets). From day one John was a straight shooter and very flexible, truly aiming to please. His prices were very reasonable. His crew was punctual and very courteous, also taking the time out to educate me when I requested it. He responded to my calls and text in a timely manner. My living room, hallway and dining room floors were gorgeous!!! They were beautiful in color, sheen, and finish. These floors had red oak, and took stain well. However, my kitchen floor was extremely challenging. These floors are made out of Pine which does not take stain/finish as well. Despite this, John’s crew did a great job of matching the color in the living room/dining room area. Then came the issues… Unfortunately, the first time they applied the top coat (polyurethane), it ended up with weird lines. John’s crew lightly sanded down and the reapplied finish but this time ended up with bubbles. John and his crew could not figure out why this was happening. He brought back his crew several times in attempt to remediate the issue without having to completely sand and refinish again. After several attempts, both John and I were mentally exhausted and I was not ready to go through the process again at that point in time, we agreed to leave it as is for now and try again in the future. He did not charge me for the kitchen floor, which was the right thing to do, and was gentleman the whole way through. This situation could have easily turned contentious and went south quickly but I was willing to be patient simply because I was working with John, he had earned my trust. I hope to use John again, both for my Kitchen, and other rooms in the house. How many people would say that after dealing with the challenges I did? This speaks to both John's quality of work and character.

They were great and I am thinking about using them again. They owner is a good guy, showed up on time and got the job done in one straight run. He didn't take on 5 other jobs at the same time which a lot of contractors would do. The guys were fairly neat and he was reasonably priced. He told me how long it was going to take and was able to finish on time. We spent more than the Big Deal price because they did some other work for us. However there were a couple of spots I saw later that I wasn't happy with which were hidden. I would recommend them to anybody who needed the same kind of service.

John came to our home very soon after we'd called and he provided us a written estimate. After we accepted his bid, we requested that the job be completed soon so that we could move in by the end of the month. He finished the job on time / on budget and we're grateful. However, there were wood finish and polyurethane stains left on the white baseboards. The workers should have covered the baseboards with masking tape. Now, we will have to pay someone else to clean or repaint the baseboards. Also, there was not enough attention paid to details. For example, we discovered a few spots in the wood stain that were sloppy and uneven, the inside of one closet was sloppy. Although we appreciate that John got the job done on time, attention to details suffered as a result.

My experience with A+ Towne flooring went very well from the very beginning of the project to the completion of the job. Jon came to all appointments on time and I did not lose any time waiting for him. He thoroughly examined the floors in all 6 rooms/areas and gave a very detailed bid for each part of the service. His bid was very competitive and we agreed on the price and the scope of the work over a single iteration. Jon was very open minded about specific materials and coatings I wanted to be used and he applied them as agreed. The project was completed over a time period he initially estimated. I did not suffer from any delays. In addition, he did a great job in communicating with me. He was using both the phone and the e-mail and his responsiveness via e-mail was very important and helpful for me. I was very satisfied with his service and I paid more than we agreed on. I will definitely reach out to him for the basement floors when we renovate our basement.
