Abysmal. Jeff and son Michael originally worked on our home installing new furnace, electrics and basic construction. He was alright but not brilliant. He said he was also a plumber but could do electrics too. After Sandy we asked them to install new furnace, demo the basement and ground floor and spray microbial. We asked 4 times for a proper proposal which we never received- but we were desperate for the work to be done and he seemed fair prior. Well, they did the work but we had issues about their cleaning and spraying, or lack of it. I was expecting a baby and didn't want mold and spores in house. When he gave us the bill he asked for a huge sum. We said we need a break down for the job, He then started working backwards and tacked on $3K for 'overheads'. We questioned this with several contractors in the neighborhood and they laughed. They told us the overhead was already in the charge. My husband tried to speak to Jeff but was shouted at. When I questioned this behavior Jeff said it wouldn't happen again. We agreed that this was a business transaction not a boxing ring. However, a month later Jeff rang and was unprofessional again. He started to accuse me of not wanting to pay him. By now, we had paid him in full for all prior work in 2011 (11K), a large sum for the boiler and furnace (4K) from Sandy and wanted to discuss some of our disputes with him. The minute he heard I had any dispute he became hyper and shouted at me that we never planned to pay him. I explained I am 9 months pregnant and he has no right to behave that way towards me, that we have never missed a payment to a workman. I did not even get a chance to tell him LIPA had been to my home to fix the gas leak he left in the basement (with my other 3 children in the house). LIPA also said he should have changed the meter which had been under water. I also did not get the opportunity to say that we had an independent person measure the mold in basement with their equipment and they found it lacking. We have since had to pay another $5K to get the job done properly. Our new electrician had to change some of the work he did too as some things were not grounded. More money to do things properly. Since that time he has put a lean against my house and stopped the HVAC person he recommended from finishing his paid-for work for us. Simon & Co are known around here and with this he has further ruined his reputation. Check his license and insurance!

This project went as smooth as a project of this magnitude could go. From start to finish (took a little more than 10 weeks), Jeff and his crew were the pinnacle of professionalism and cleanliness. It sounds too good to be true, but they are the real deal. As long as you have any extras that's needed to go in on the days that it has to go in, the job will go smoothly. I contacted numerous references (six total) and all gave outstanding reviews. You can not go wrong with Simon and Company. I would highly recommend to anyone doing any type of job and I would definitely use them again in the future.
Description of Work: Full second story addition: Demolition to finished product. 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 walk-in closet, 1 washer/dryer closet Hardwood floors, tiling, siding, new front door

I was in the market for something that didn't need to be sanded and painted periodic. They used a synthetic material that is fantastic. I don't have to maintain it at all. They found out that some more work needed to be done to rebuild the undercarriage, which I did not expect, but I can see how they would have to do it. The company is a father-and-son operation. They pretty much do whatever it is that you want them to do. I had a few qualm about the columns on my front porch, so they were able to salvage them and redo the bases.
Description of Work: They redid my front porch. They also rebuilt the undercarriage.
