Very well. I called the next Fri morning, and was told that, in addition to the old lubricant gunking up the mechanism, a small plastic part was broken. He was able to obtain one on the internet, and it was due to arrive that day. Most of the work was already, and if the part arrived as expected, the turntable would be ready the next morning. I called again Sat morning to confirm that it was ready, and picked it up shortly afterward. I brought it home and hooked it back up, and it worked very well.
Description of Work: Our turntable (Technics, late 1970s) would no longer lower the arm onto records. After calling, I dropped it off on a Sat morning. He told me that the original lubrication eventually turns into "gunk" that can prevent the mechanism from working, and that he would clean it out, replacing it with modern lubricant that would last indefinitely.

Very well. I called on Fri, and was told that both power supplies had burned out, possibly due to a power surge during a storm. No replacement was available for the older VCR (GE, 1988), so I asked him to recycle it. He was able to replace the power supply for the newer VCR (Magnavox, 1991). I picked it up the next morning, hooked it up, and it is working very well.
Description of Work: We recently discovered that neither of our two VCRs, which hadn't been used for some time, would power on. After calling, I dropped them off on Sat morning. He said that it was most likely that the power supplies had failed, as they as on as long as the VCR is plugged in. I asked to pick them up on the following Sat morning.
