Nunez Construction and Painting

Mr. Nunez was professional, punctual , and easy to talk to from the first time he came to see the job to the finish of the day when his painters finished. His painters were polite and cleaned up beautifully. He was clear regarding what I needed to get as I bought the supplies myself and even helped me get a discount. At the end of the day, his workers even helped install the new blinds. Very good people!

The owner & the painters were professional & polite. They worked very hard & stayed a few minutes extra to finish up. I wish that they would have used masking tape on the woodwork & used more drop cloths but, on the whole, they did a very nice job.

they were very professional, they put down drop cloths, mopped at the end of the job, cleaned up all their mess. The rooms were all painted with two coats of paint as well as the ceiling.

Efren Nunez gave me a quote for $7100 to do the above work. It was pricey. I asked him how much it would cost to skim coat the entire room, and he said he would do the work under the same quote. I thought that was fair for skim coating, so I agreed. Nunez sent a good-size crew for the demolition and installation of sheet rock. Over the next couple of days, they skim-coated the room and left the plaster to dry one day. On the fourth day, the crew installed the molding and painted the room. I asked Nunez to do some last minute work that was not in the contract. He installed part of the baseboard molding for free and hired an electrician at $100 an outlet, a fair price (total was $500). Also, I originally asked him to paint just one side of the French doors, but changed my mind and asked him for both sides of the doors, which he completed for free. All-in-all, I thought Nunez was fair with the extra work I gave him. There were some problems: The crew didn't cover the furniture in the room fully, which I pointed out, but I still found some paint on my bed afterwards. Also, some of the paint on the baseboard molding pealed after the job was finished. In addition, Nunez completed the job in four days as promised, but that was a little too quick. They neglected to paint the french doors as specified in the contract. I pointed this out to them, and they came for a fifth day to finish the French doors. We really needed a sixth day, since two coats on the unprimed doors was not enough. At that point though, I had to stop the work since I had set my schedule to be finished on a certain date. It would have been better if Nunez had set the schedule for six days. In general, I am happy with the job. The painting is neat, and the walls are smooth. The crew was tidy and cleaned up well after themselves. My only quibble about the quality of work is that the seams between the crown molding could have been tighter; maybe some silicone gel and extra day of work would have helped. What I am not happy with is the handling of the insurance claim. Insurance companies require a precise breakdown of services. Nunez was either disinterested or incapable of itemizing the work that was performed. All he could give me was a highly generalized statement that revealed nothing of the costs involved. My adjuster approved the claims for the first submission. The second claims submission for approximately $2800, however, was not accepted since it was not detailed enough. Nunez does a good job, but he is a poor contractor for insurance claims.

Overall the experience was positive. The painters were courteous and experienced. They cleaned up before leaving. There was some problem with the paint adherence, but the contractor sent one of the men back the following week to finish the job. We would use them again.

From the very start when Efron met us at the house to give an estimate on the work that needed to be done, he did something no other contractor had done - he LISTENED! We had just bought a home and were struggling with financial issues, and thought we'd have to wait on doing the work I wanted done on the kitchen because we just couldn't afford it. But I also knew that if we didn't do the kitchen before we moved in, it would be so much harder to do later - and most likely would never get done. Efron looked at the basement, and pointed out ways we could save money - while every other contractor told us we needed baseboard heating, Efron pointed out there was already heat in the basement through the pipes in the ceiling - and also that the electrical work we thought had to be done right away could wait until a later time. He also said that a window we needed enclosed in the bathroom could be sealed with waterproof sheetrock & painted instead of tiled. In other words, he heard us saying we are not rich, but still needed the work done - and he pointed out so many ways to save money it allowed us to scrape together the funds to do the kitchen as well, which I desperately wanted to do! I can't say enough good things about our experience. Eric, the foreman, was awesome and the whole crew was polite, personable and professional. There were issues that cropped up, as they will with any renovation of this size - mis-communications, or things installed not quite as I'd imagined - but all I had to do was point them out to Eric and he would have them corrected by the end of the day. Our house is nearly 100 years old, so unanticipated problems would crop up - a leaking toilet on the second floor they took the time to fix so that it wouldn't damage the kitchen ceiling, old valves they replaced along with pipes - I had a dream of a little mini counter at the end of the kitchen, but the original plans didn't account for the coat closet that was adjacent to it - I problem-solved with Eric and they custom-cut the cabinets in order to accomodate a countertop that wouldn't interfere with the closet. They fixed all these issues at no extra charge to us. They were the absolute opposite of the contractor stereotype - they did much MORE than what the contract required, and finished in HALF the time that was estimated!! Efron, Eric, and even the crew just kept saying "If you're happy, we're happy." And all I can say is...we are not only happy, we are ecstatic!!!! I would not use anyone else to do work in our home, they have earned our undying loyalty!!!

I recommend Mr. Nunez very highly. I took the $500 coupon for 2 days for 8 hours and I really feel I got my money's worth. Mr. Nunez and his painters were very pleasant to work with and they did an outstanding job. I would highly recommend them to any of my neighbors.

Was told job would take 10 days, it took 7. Mr. Nunez was very nice and polite. Explained everything, answered all questions. Never felt rushed, whether speaking in person or on the phone. Never had construction done before and was very nervous, he put me at ease. Workers were polite and always cleaned up after themselves.

I previously had our bathroom completely renovated by Nunez Construction , and are very happy with the work . This recent job is no exception . The floor I selected by a recommendation and on the internet, turned out to be difficult to find. It was not available at the large chain stores . Mr. Nunez made phone calls and searched showrooms to locate the special order floor . The old floor was removed including the tiles under the fridge and the oven , along with the molding . The floor was installed and it looked great . Matching grout came with the floor. The floor needed to set before the grout could be applied . Now the molding and saddles were installed and painted. The staff was excellent . The floor looks great . Thank you Efren Nunez and staff .

They artived on time on Friday. Nunez went over the job with me, making note of the areas to be patched,primed and painted.He then explained it all to his 2 painters. They painters worked well for the day & returned on time Monday to finish up. Looks great.

.I hired Nunez Construction during a deal of two painters for $500. I called MR Nunez and he came out to view my apartment within 2 hours of me contacting him. While viewing the space I wanted painted in my 2 bedroom apt he gave me tips on paint, paint colors and paint brands.....which came in very handy when I went to home depo and had no idea of what to pick.. after meeting with mr nunez I immediately went on angies list and purchased the deal and set up a appt for the following tues. Mr Nunez showed up Tuesday morning ahead of schedule on Tuesday morning with 2 painters . They began work ASAP...Long story short they did a GREAT job. I love the job they performed and im very happy. The workers are very nice, respectful and kept me informed while painting. I will be recommending this company to other people. My place looks Amazing!!! PS.. I also got 20 percent off the paint at home depo thanks to MR nunez who offered me his discount

They provided a fast but extremely extensive quote with zero detail. They refused to honor any part of their online deal with questioned about it. I would not recommend them.

Minor repairs to the roof, siding, leaders and gutters. Punctual knowledgeable, professional and honest. I was very impressed.

Mr. Nunez is a respectable and professional business man. He did not try to up-sell us when he came to look at our co-op apartment to provide quote (which others have done) and was very very familiar with co-op rules and protocols. I did not even have to be the middle man .... Mr. Nunez called the property manager directly to clear the scope of work and provide necessary paperwork. Both him and his crew were always on time when we had an appointment to meet and the work was finished on a few days ahead of schedule. It took a week and a half to finish the flooring, paint and bathroom ceiling fix. We would highly recommend Nunez Construction to our friends and family! We are so happy we found him on Angie's List.

On 12/23/2013 my mother called and spoke to mr. Nunez about a leak in her bedroom. Next day, the plumber came and inspected the leak and told her they will come back on 12/26/2013 to start the job. The Nunez guys came on time and fixed the leak on tent's bathroom and started working on her bedroom. My mother was relieved and satisfied with the Nunez construction finishing the job on a reasonable time and the price he charged.

Mr. Efren Nunez and his staff are punctual and professional. He walked with me through my building to assess what needed to be done. I set a priority list and his crew took areas of our building from drab to fab! They take time to do a good job, Mr. Nunez is present for most of the work, and is very accessible by phone if you have any concerns while work is being done; I'm not fluent in Spanish, so at times you need him to translate your concerns. The jobs took about a month to complete (not on a daily basis, many days off to help us recover from the renovation process). Crew cleans up at the end of each day's work. Look forward to working with them again in the future.

Nunez construction was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. They did an excellent job of renovating my basement and building a new bathroom complete with a walk-in shower in the basement. The quality of their work was excellent The workers were prompt and very polite they go out of their way to make sure that everything is done correctly. The results were spectacular the tile work they did on the shower and bathroom wall was a work of art, they are true professionals. The entire project from demolition to the completion of the job was made easy by Nunez construction they make sure everything is done correctly down to the smallest detail

Owner and painters arrived a bit late but very courteous and professional. Owner explained to the painters what needed to be done. The painters worked the full amount of time, taking a little time for lunch, and got everything I wanted done. The owner came back at the end of the day to make sure the work was completed and I was happy. Overall standard of painting was good, not perfect eg. trims overlapped with paint from walls, but happy overall.

Mr. Nunez came ahead of time to give his expert opinion on some concerns I had about my new apartment. He took the time to look and listen carefully, was honest and thorough in explaining his assessments and put me at ease that I had made the right decision in renting this apartment. Once I contracted for the paining job, the day the painters came they were on time, worked quickly (highly appreciated for a per hour service) worked well together, and did a wonderful job. Everyone who has been to the apartment since immediately comments on how the paint brings out the beauty of the apartment. Though I am from NYC and am back to stay, I have lived in different places and have found that in general in NYC we pay too much for not very good service. Nunez Construction is not like that at all. The service and work quality are more like what I have experienced in the countryside where everyone is truly knowledgeable, has a positive attitude, wants to do a great job, and to top it off......cleans up before leaving! This company is well run, reaches for its own standards of excellence, and exceeds expectations. Thank goodness we have this company here in NYC. Sometimes living in NYC can feel overwhelming and soooooo expensive. It felt really good to pay a reasonable amount for excellent work. I highly recommend Nunez Construction, am very glad that I now have a go-to company for all things home related, and I share this review so that you will have your needs met too. This is my altruistic side - I'd be lying if I didn't admit a small part of me held back from writing this review so I could keep this gem for myself! But no, if you don't give anything, you don't get anything, so here you go: Nunez Construction is really great. Whether you live downtown, uptown or in the boroughs, in a studio or a house, belong to the 1% or the 99%, the work is just top notch. Now you know.

The most professional business I have ever dealt with. Lightning fast response to my Big Deal purchase. Called me to schedule immediately and answered all my calls and emails the same day. The work crew were two very polite and competent men who did a flawless job at an amazing price. They moved and replaced all furniture, protected all furnishings with drop cloths and painted my whole apartment so fast and well that I was amazed. Very professional and courteous but also excellent results. Mr. Nunez is a man who knows how to run a great service business and I would recommend him to anyone wanting reasonable professional painting with a smile. The workmen were also true professionals and left my place as clean as they found it. Not a smudge or paint out of line! Do yourself a favor and use them. My mother is an interior designer and is going to use them for her commercial and residential painting jobs as a result of their responsiveness, results and overall excellence!

It went very well . Once we decided the starting date . Mr. Nunez was available whenever I had a concern. He sent a team of staff for the demolition followed by the tile installers. The medicine cabinet we wanted was not in stock . The bathtub and doors were installed . I needed shelving , The supervisor recommended a built in wall shelve for the bathtub . It looks great . The electrician and plumber did the installation for the lighting and plumbing as the toilet and vanity arrived. We received the special order mirrored medicine cabinet but the mirror was broken . We waited for the replacement. Everything was shaping up. The cabinets arrived and were installed the next day. I am grateful to Angies list for access to the very professional work of Nunez Construction and the entire Staff . Thank you so much Nunez Construction . .

I just ended up not needing the deal. I spke to him once and he said he would come on Wednesday and look at it and he did not.
